**OMG, I cannot believe what answers I have seen on this post thus far.
So what kind of answers were you expecting? Were you expecting, “hey!, she’s right! It means the Patriarch of Rome.
What were we thinking? All schismatics need to come home”
Well Mr. arrogance, the Creed, whether you want to accept it or not was written as early as the third century. Some even speculate it was written right after Christ’s Assencion, therefore it was written, the Holy Catholic church, The Communion of Saints…it is what it is so stop trying to change it. The denial in non-Catholics is astonishing.

**OMG, I cannot believe what answers I have seen on this post thus far. People who are saying capital “C”, and lower case “c” is simply utter nonsence and ignorance. There is one, ONE Catholic church, not two with upper and lower cases.
Furthermore I cannot believe the denial of these non-Catholics who inserted the word “Christian” church instead of Catholic like it was originally written.
Third, Jesus said “Universal” which was meant for his Catholic church, because, well, Catholic means Universal so why aren’t you in God’s Universal church?
I can see what Protestant pastors teach these people and what they learn from non-Catholics…pretty sad if you ask me.
“We believe in the Holy Catholic church, THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS”, I suppose you’ll tell me that the Communion of Saints means something else…oh boy…God help these people…
MDK, you are correct in what you say… 👍 **
anything please, anything but the CC. that is the protestant religions professes. even the distortion of the Creed.

why is universal? because she was commanded by our Lord to go and teach all men in all the earth. and that is what she does. and the CC is in every town, every state, and every country. that is why she is universal. despite of the opposition she still reigns.
our Lord said it therefore it is.

Galatians 1:9, “As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone preach a Gospel to you other than that which you have received, let him be Anathema.”**

👍 👍 👍

That may have once been the case, but on the most part most mainline denominations (the creed professors) see the RCC as part of the church universal.
Some of us even believe it is the logical location for the center of a reunited Church. I know that their current pope is up to the challenge of working for unity, and I hope it continues.

I think I already said that.

The wounds of separation effect all of us. I do not invalidate Christ. I invalidate what we sinful creatures have done to His Church - all of us. You and I were not here in 1054, or in 1521. While those sins are not ours, they do infect us with separation.
Our sin is in not trying harder to bring unity back. I believe in one holy catholic and apostalic church, and I pray she is soon united.

Jon
i am not talking about the sins of man. i am talking about the Church. the Church cannot stopping being the Church because people decided to leave. she remains intact and whole.

do you realize how many has left the Church since the beginning? i hope you do. but she is still here as she was 2000 years ago. despite of those who abandoned the faith, many more has come. you cannot deny in way the faithfullness of our Lord to His Church. the Church of the Covenant.

the Church does not depend on those who leaves to be the Church, she depends on the promise of Her Builder. Jesus our Lord. in way one can say that because i renounce the CC, she is no longer the CC. i hope you see my point.

There’s such a thing as “disagreeing, while still being charitable”… You might like to try it sometime. Makes you seem like less of a jerk.

(NB: No, I did not say you are a jerk…)
So, when you tell someone that certain behavior will make them seem like less of a jerk, that means you didn’t say they were a jerk now so that they would be less of one if they did what you recommended?

Is it any woner that Lutherans interpret Scripture passages in ways that conflict with other Scriptures and so the solution is to misinterpret the next passage to match, or just ignore it all together?

The problem I have (I’m a Catholic):

Many creed professing Protestants believe that the Catholic Church is not part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
Which is also nonsense. The RC church is the largest branch on the tree that is the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church

Whatever, dude. You WANT to just rant; fine. But don’t expect me to feed it. Congrats - you just made my “ignore”-list, so don’t even bother answering…

Obviously there are fringe calvinists etc who are creed professing but see the RCC as evil though. Most Baptists, congregationalists, non-denoms generally aren’t creed professing and generally don’t consider the RCC was part of the church universal.
Point accepted.

Whatever, dude…congrats - you just made my “ignore”-list…
I’m in good company, then. From what you write, Christ made your ignore list as well. I will be with Christ and am not bothered by your igore-ance, but wish you would come around to the truth.

Folks, LutheranDK illustrates my point. Many Protestants don’t like the truth, so ignore those who promote it. They have also the bad habit of twisting God’s word to their own personal liking. As long as they can point back to the words in Scripture, they believe that they can twist them any way they desire. We need to continue to pray for them, along with praying for ourselves as well in God’s Church.

Maybe your memory doesn’t go back as far as mine.

How awesome it would be for Christ’s Church Catholic to be one visibly, as well as spiritually!!
However, I don’t see that happening, because it would mean theological compromises, on very, VERY important issues, on all sides… No one is, nor should they, be willing to compromise on what they percieve as Truth.

Maybe your memory isn’t as old as mine. . .
Catholics go all the way back to the cross as the only Church. It was not the design of God to see other churches branch out with their false doctrine. Christ has to ask these people what is wrong with the doctrine given by Christ? What is wrong with the Sacraments given by Christ? Of course, we know nothing is wrong at all. It is good for all of us, as it was meant. False doctrine and watered down Sacraments won’t really help one as much, if at all.

In the hands of the HS, anything is possible. I hope you are wrong. I suspect you do, too. 🙂

Indeed 🙂 As I said: Visible unity would ROCK! 🙂
So of course, I’d love for the Church to be one. But I just don’t see it happening, because there are points of divergence theologically which are so important, indeed, so essential that compromise is out of the question.
