How does one go about joining SSPX?

So is your faith the SSPX or the Catholic Church? If this is so true, then why was John Paul II given the charism of walking in the shoes of Peter and not Lefebvre who found himself outside the Catholic Church for a time? I have news for you. I attend Mass, the “True” Mass. The one where heaven and joined to Earth and Jesus becomes present. There is no other sacrifice than this that was given once for all. There is no other Vicar of Christ on Earth than the one who holds the keys passed on to St. Peter.

At least your post shows how dangerous and divisive the SSPX** can **be for Catholics.
I suggest you curb your hatred for Tradition and attend one of their masses, the True Mass. Perhaps then you should also pick up Michael Davies’ Pope Paul’s New Mass, a very good book.

I’m sure most Novus Ordo Catholics haven’t done any study whatsoever on what actually happened. They just say that we’re “more catholic than the pope” and go along with everything the pope says, even when some of his actions are questionable. The error of Novus Ordo Catholics is that they think the pope is more Catholic than the Church, which is clearly wrong.

It will probably take a while, but I’m eager to see Archbishop Lefebvre canonized for his heroic acts against modernism and liberalism. He would be a fantastic saint to pray to.

May God bless the Church and those who have strayed.

What wanton disrespect to the momories of Michael Davies, and Archbishop Lefebvre. Mr. Davies cut off relations with the SSPX, and retracted some of his earlier statements, having come to see that Christ promised the Gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church, and that the Successors of Peter, not Archbishop Lefebvre received the promises of Christ that they may be strong in faith, as Satan wished to sift them as wheat. Archbishop Lefebvre, and the SSPX were not the only group to fight for the Tranditional Mass. Many in Ecclesia Dei and other groups who remained faithful to the Holy See, and took abuse from both the Liberals and the SSPX, as well as other groups like the SSPX who went outside of the Law to preserve the old rites cannot be dismissed, even if the leadership in the SSPX tries to convince us of the, while telling our Holy Father that they have to teach him how to be a Catholic. I fear that if he were alive, and well today, he would be shocked at the way the SSPX has turned away from his own statements about what and how is should operate in the world. He may eventually be canonized for what he tried to do, but not for what the SSPX has done after he became ill, and after his death.

Secondly it is a slap in the face to Easter Catholics, who also have rites of the Liturgy that are of the ancient and Apostolic origins as old as the TLM, and are of equal value and “Truth” equally the unbloody repetition of Calvary.

The error of Novus Ordo Catholics is that they think the pope is more Catholic than the Church, which is clearly wrong.
The error of SSPX is to presume that they know more than the Church.
May God bless the Church and those who have strayed.
Amen and may God bring them back into full communion with the Catholic Church under the faithful leadership of Pope Benedict XVI.

I pray that the current discussions between the Church and the SSPX will be successful, however, Catholics tempted to join the SSPX should be fully aware of the group’s history and status. A very good summary is provided here. As mentioned previously, traditional Catholics should look for an FSSP (Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter) parish in your area or find a parish that provides a Tridentine Mass. If your parish/diocese doesn’t - ask for it.

Your post is false. It rings of rhetorical propaganda. Truth does not need such lies. Let me point some out.

I have never commented negatively about Tradition and embrace Catholic Tradition. I do not hate Tradition. This was slander. This was a lie. Unless one equates the SSPX with Tradition, then you had no basis for this statement. If you do equate the two, then you ignore all those who embrace Tradition but have remained obedient to the Holy Father (a rather noble Catholic Tradition that the SSPX ignores when convenient).

Second, this statement, "I’m sure most Novus Ordo Catholics haven’t done any study whatsoever on what actually happened. " Shows the classic propaganda technique of labeling to marginalize a group. There is actually no such animal as a “Novus Ordo Catholic.” I defy you to show any Church document that creates a group. Yet by marginalizing almost all Catholics as somewhat of a lower class than you, then you set up the SSPX for the next stage of propaganda - the remnant. One more thing, this statement reflects an arrogance that anyone who really knew what happended would have to agree with the SSPX. Cardinal Ratzinger knew what happened. John Paul II knew what had happened. Neither joined the SSPX. God knew what happened and will be the ultimate judge. Thus of us that embrace the Catholic Faith will continue to trust in His divine leadership.

Those familiar with the Bible will understand that the concept of “The Remnant” was never a Church concept but one applied to the Nation of Israel. As they turned over and over again to false gods, they were punished and only the faithful survived. While this concept has been embraced by the SSPX, it ignores the universality of the Catholic Church. The Church, the Body of Christ, is not a remnant. Yet in their efforts to be special the SSPX clings to their own uniqueness as a red badge of courage, denying in practice any sensum fidei or leadership in the Catholic Church… No, it is they who are right and everyone else is wrong. The Holy Spirit is guiding the Church through them, not the Pope, bishops and the faithful. While the SSPX is not a cult, this is a very cultish attitude. It is attractive for those wanting to be unique, though.
May God bless the Church and those who have strayed.
What a way to end. In a strange twist we have the Catholic Church straying from itself.

I would like to reinterate that I know that all SSPX attendees are not this negative toward the Catholic Church. I just believe that the danger of being poisoned increases the more one feeds on this sort of mentality.

The error of Novus Ordo Catholics is that they think the pope is more Catholic than the Church, which is clearly wrong…
And some of the SSPX ( I will not show the level of intolerant bigotry the above statement) believe that they are more Catholic than either. Again, the presumption that everyone that is obedient to their bishop and Pope is in error.
