who set the rules? you? how do you figure those rules?

do you go to Bible studies? did you go to Bible studies?
I have been to many Bible Study gruops, Sunday School, confirmation, study on my own to witness to Muslims past 7 years, try to pay attention to the entire sermon!!, usually discuss religion with my many friends-Catholics, Bible thumpers, Lutherans, Agnostics, etc.

Once I even invited Jehovah Witnesses into my house! I thought gee I have heard what other people say about them, I need to find out for myself!! LOL!! ** I FOUND OUT!** I’ve given been in a round or 2 with visiting Mormons. Your understanding and faith grows when you try to prove it 2 another.

BUT

These are pretty obvious rules. It is what we learned back in Junior High.

“interpretation” =** arrive at the original meaning the writer intended when he penned the words. History of the time, definitions of words in place of time.**

Context of the words, sentences, paragraghs, books and theen the entire Bible must be considered. The Holy Bible does not contradict itself.

Any given passage scripture has only one interpretation, but there can be many ways of applying that verse in our life situations.

Because the entire Bible is written about man’s relationship with GOD, how we are lacking and that GOD’s plan includes our salvation through Jesus.

**Jesus Christ must be the center of all interpretations. **

The more I ponder it though- I don’t think here is involvement of the Holy Spirit in interpretation.

** I think the Holy spirit comes with the application of the TRUTH, that is where man needs the help-big time.**

To make sure the application is GOD pleasing.

This explains why there are so many application fo the one TRUTH- to have a complete and full body of Christ.

AND why there are the weird cults- **man thought the Holy Spirit was needed for nterpretation and that the4 Holy Spirit was moving them **-what they thought was the Holy Spirit was something else.

All practicing catholics seek out truth in Jesus Christ. He shows us the truth. That he does so through his Church on Earth, the Catholic Church, doesn’t make the truth any less valid. The reason there are 30K and counting non-orthodox, non-catholic, sects is that some humans decided that any human can equally access the holy spirit, and equally interpret scripture. This is why the non-catholic/non orthodox christian churches are fracturing and splintering beyond recognition. I do believe all christians will someday be united under the Church Jesus founded, physically. All others will simply cease to exist as they are absorbed, or else fade away as numbers dwindle.
I think this is a great statement: is that some humans decided that any human can equally access the holy spirit,

Except I would add any human can BUT you must first know the TRUTH!!

The TRUTH in GOD’s Word is easy to get to, only has one interpretation.

In Scripture you notice that people hear the Word, believe and then the Holy Spirit comes.

Where cults get started - a person thinks the Holy Spirit is telling them some whole new truth-different interpretation.

The context of the Bible is Christ’s Catholic Church.

The TRUTH in GOD’s Word is easy to get to, only has one interpretation.
We have already seen that there are many interpretations of God’s Word out there. How can you tell which one is the ONE TRUE interpretation?

For example, what does the truth in God’s Word say about homosexuality? Is it a sin?

How can you? Yes, you will say that Rome provides an infallible interpretation for its adherents. That presumes that Rome has this capability. Which infallible source can you refer to states that Rome is infallible when interpreting Scripture?

You have to let the Bible interprete-

Yes homosexuality is a sin.

Leviticus 20
13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

I am a bit different in my thinking on this then most people. I believe that in fact some people are born with true homosexual tendencies, genes, hormones, whatever something is causing them to deviate from what is the sexual “norm”.

I have know many homosexuals, all have been really good, nice caring, loving people. Funny too they have all been Christian! For some reason we have a lot in our neighborhood!?

I had a cousin and a best buddy growing up that were both true homosexuals - we, their parents, everyone knew from the earliest age that these guys were different. Both were really, really nice guys! Both have since died from AIDS.

Homosexuality is a sin and the homosexual’s “cross to bear” [am I using that term correctly?], just as the alcoholic must strive to defeat alcoholism homosexuals must strive to defeat homosexuality. Homosexuals are no worse then adulterers, pedophiles, overeaters, thieves, verbal and physical abusers, etc., etc,!!

All of us are sinners, we all deviate from GOD’s “norm” and have some sin we have to deal with:

I don’t believe that we can punish homosexuals **but we can demand a monogomous lifestyle. ** Would allowing homosexuals to marry help with this issue? I don’t know. Does it give a message of condoning homosexuality which in no way should be condoned.

Luke 6
41"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Matthew 7
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Can homosexuals lead a congrgation? If you don’t reguire the following minimum from your Priests, Ministers or Pastors then how can you say no to a homosexual?

1 Timothy 3:2-12

2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.

Titus 1
6An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Should, can we stop homosexuals from being Christian?

LOL! Our churches would be empty if we kicked out all the sinners!!!

Deprive homosexuals from the Eucharist-sinners need the eucharist the most!

Christ himself, He commissioned the Apostles to hand down his revelation through his His Church, all the time being guided by the Holy Spirit and he promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against her. Lord shine the light of your complete Truth upon us all.🙂 Peace, Carlan

Artificial contraception is intrinsically evil.

Your move.
Artifical contraception that causes death of a potential life is a no brainer- it is going against one of GOD’s commandments.

Each case has to be decided on an individual basis.

I would say birth control so a person young or old could mess around falls under the sexual immorality catagory mentioned in the Holy Bible.

What do you think about this case, which is actually a true to life case-

A married person has Huntington’s Chorea they are a carrier, have the disease and watched their parent die from the disease. They have decided against children- 50% end up with the disease.

** Mark 10**
7’For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Genesis 2
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Who is the church to tell them it is wrong? There is nothing in the Bible about this issue and must be left up for GOD to decide.

you said you go to Bible study, sunday school and so forth, and yet you tell us you got to let the Bible enterpret itself. why then do you go to Bible study and be tought by others?

=Carlan;6409409]Christ himself, He commissioned the Apostles to hand down his revelation through his His Church, all the time being guided by the Holy Spirit and he promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against her.
Why does this apply exclusively to one patriarch, the Bishop of Rome, and not the other Patriarchates? Christ Himself never mentioned the institutional organization known as the Catholic Church - those in communion with Rome.
Lord shine the light of your complete Truth upon us all.🙂
Amen.

That is the interpretation put forward by Rome. To say that Rome’s interpretation states that Rome is the only Church that can infallibly interpret Scripture is a circular argument fallacy. Which infallible source outside of Rome states that Rome is infallible?

Thank you.

Why do most Mainline Protestants, who let the Bible interpret, say society should accept the sin of homosexuality as a way of life?

“Members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, two mainline Protestant denominations, are considering whether to allow the ordination of non-celibate gays and lesbians as members of their clergy. The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life, finds that majorities of both denominations say that homosexuality is a way of life that should be accepted by society. Among mainline Protestants overall, 56% say homosexuality should be accepted, compared with only about one-in-four evangelical Protestants and four-in-ten members of historically black Protestant churches.” - Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life , March 19, 2009.

As interpreted by the Roman Church. What infallible source *outside of the Roman Catholic Church *states that the Roman Catholic Church can infallibly interpret Scripture?

Carlan,
Have the bishops and patriarchs of the east (Orthodoxy) also received His revelation in the same way? If so, why are these revelations not in complete agreement?
