You think the Bible is fallible?
No. I asked you where Jesus said that the Roman Catholic Magisterium can interpret Scripture infallibly? You answered “The Canon of Scripture.” I asked, where in the Canon of Scripture Jesus says that the Roman Catholic Magisterium can infallibly interpret Scripture?

Carlan,
Have the bishops and patriarchs of the east (Orthodoxy) also received His revelation in the same way? If so, why are these revelations not in complete agreement?

Jon
Well Jon, I am not brightest light when it comes to a whole lot, especially the Orthodox, I understand doctrinally there is not much if any difference, that the problem is mostly political, and don’t ask me questions about that, I do not know. Perhaps some more educated than I will come forward.;):)Carlan

The Bible proceeds from the Catholic Church.which was established by Christ. The Catholic Church infallibly decreed of the thousands of writings which were Sacred Scripture and which were not. If the Catholic Church isn’t infallible then the Bible isn’t either.

Martin Luther - commentary on St. John said:
“We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of GOD, that we received it from them, and that without them, we should have no knowledge of it at all.”

The cause of the Bible’s infallibility is the result of the charism of the Holy Spirit, not the Church. That is a side issue, however. I have yet to see a single infallible source that states the Roman Catholic Church is infallible when interpreting Scripture. Since Catholics set up the agenda that we cannot know what the infallible Bible means unless we have an infallible interpreter, then such a standard indicates that we need a third infallible source that validates the infallibility of Rome.

Who’s on first?

If you go back and re-read your post about infallibility it goes back and forth using the word so much that it sounds like a who’s on first Abbott and Costello bit. Costello is holding a bunch of tools for digging and asks Abbott to “take your pick.” Abbott takes the shovel. “That’s not a pick, this is a pick.” Then Costello shows him the pick, “see this is my pick.” “Ok, your pick is the pick, my pick is the shovel.” “How can a shovel be a pick?” “It’s my pick but it’s a shovel, the pick is your pick” and so on…your post with infallibility worded reminds me of these bits lol…sorry, Matt, it’s late dude! lol 😃

you brought up a very good point. 👍

The majority of Catholics (in the US at least, going by the survey), do not adhere to official Catholic Church teaching with regards to the sin of homosexuality.

White evangelical protestants who attend weekly, beat Catholics roundly on this score, 83% to 39%, who think that homosexuality is morally wrong.

Sadly, many Catholics these days are Catholics in name only. 😦

That would be Jesus who established the Catholic Church from which the Bible proceeds. These are historical facts.

The authority and infallibility of the Catholic Church was declared by Jesus long before one word of what would become the New Testament was written down. A book like the Bible can’t declare itself authoritative or inerrant, that came from the authority and infallibility of the Catholic Church.

As interpreted by the Roman Church. What infallible source *outside of the Roman Catholic Church *states that the Roman Catholic Church can infallibly interpret Scripture?
Jesus, He stablished Church and promised the Spirit of Truth. unlike others who separated themselves from the Truth, took the Word of God wihtout being giving to them and begin claiming what they read. today many follow false teachings from those who separated themselves from the Truth.

Jesus is infallibe, the Apostles became infallibe in their teachings because Jesus promised the Spirit of Truth to His Church.

Where does the Canon of Scripture state that the Roman Catholic Church can interpret Scripture infallibly?
this is a silly question, dont you think?

find the Church Jesus found and you will find the infallible Truth of God.

LOL… I knew what you meant, I said “what” as in what’s on second LOL

That is an opinion, which is also shared by the Eastern Churches, except they say that ther church was the one Christ founded. They would point to the same historical 'facts." Since Jesus never states that He is founding a Church based in Rome, with bishops in union with a Pope who is the successor of Peter… anything else is interpretation.

I agree that the Bible cannot declare itself authoritative. Neither can a Church, since the Church receives revelation from God, it doesn’t create the revelation. The authority and infallibility of the Bible is derived solely from God who is its Author, and Who is the ONLY infallible authority.

Wrapping the word facts in quotation marks doesn’t change the fact that Christ established the Catholic Church. Some of the Eastern Churches are in communion with the successor of Peter, some are in schism.

Jesus established the Catholic Church and no others. Any statement to the contrary is mere historical revisionism.

The Catholic Church infallibly and authoritatively holds and professes the entire deposit of faith entrusted to her by Christ. The authority and infallibility of the Bible is derived solely from God through His Catholic Church.

No, that is not a historical fact. That is a conclusion that you have reached based upon historical facts. You have yet to provide, however, any historical (or Scriptural) facts to back up that conclusion. Jesus founded a church, that much is fact. That does not mean He founded the Roman Catholic Church as it exists today. That is an assertion.

you said you go to Bible study, sunday school and so forth, and yet you tell us you got to let the Bible enterpret itself. why then do you go to Bible study and be tought by others?
It isn’t really being taught by others-we discuss, share, give examples of how we apply a verse in our daily lives, why a verse or Bible story might touch our heart, etc.

Same reason why I go to church- for fellowship, building up of our faith.

Thank you.

Why do most Mainline Protestants, who let the Bible interpret, say society should accept the sin of homosexuality as a way of life?

"Members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, two mainline Protestant denominations, are considering whether to allow the ordination of non-celibate gays and lesbians as members of their clergy. The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life, finds that majorities of both denominations say that homosexuality is a way of life that should be accepted by society. Among mainline Protestants overall, 56% say homosexuality should be accepted, compared with only about one-in-four evangelical Protestants and four-in-ten members of historically black Protestant churches." - Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life , March 19, 2009.
Because somewher along the line someone said there was more then one interpretation!

Man making GOD’s Word conform to our reality instead of us conforming to GOD’s TRUTH!

We are to hate the sin and love the sinner. Are people confusing accepting with loving the sinner?
