How does this happen?

Islam is not as old as Christianity.
And? Are the Christians who perpetrated the horrors of the 30 Years War against each other excused then, becuase their Christianity was not as old as ours? Protestantism is far younger than Islam, is it alright for them to kill people who disagree with them?

Age has nothing to do with correctness, and the truly pious throughout the ages have always acted in much the same manner toward others.

So far Ive not heard a Christian kill someone and then shout “God is great!” or hear of deaths of some sort of enemy and say the same thing. 🤷

The former Yugo slavia. Christian hands are not spotless unfortunately. Alot of Muslims were murdered. 😦 Muslims who are killing Catholics today, should be condemned, and we should all condemn what was done to the Muslims by our Christian brothers In the 1990s. Its not ancient history. Peace :signofcross:

Thanks. I’m aware of this and it is indeed really shocking for me and Im ashamed of this crime by those who had the power to do such things. What Im not sure of is did they do it for God? 😦

Yes, yes Christians have also done bad things. This is why you must look to the various religions’ respective scriptures to find out whether or not these atrocities are an aberration or a consequence of the founder’s ideology…

I sleep soundly as a Christian.

That i hesitate to say yes or no to be honest. But I know that when ever the Muslims managed to capture one, they would cut off the 3 fingers used to form the cross. I would suspect at least that the leadership used religion much in the same way Hitler did, to justify their actions. Either way it Is sad. I only wish we could have intervened sooner. 😦

I would most definitely day it is a much more rare occurance for Christians to commit these acts. Thankfully as Catholics we have the Pope, who promotes peace and understanding among people.

Speaking of Hitler (sorry to stray off the subject a little), I understand that he admired Islam in some way…was that true?

You are absolutely correct that intervention should have been sooner.

Much has been made of the association of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem with Adolf Hitler, and the provision for Bosnian Muslim SS units (the Hadjars) established through his trolling through the Arab-Muslim world to shore up support for Hitler and the Nazi solution to the “Jewish problem” (you see, for some reason, many Muslims would also say that the Arab world had a Jewish problem…and this was, of course, before “Israel” was a word known to any Muslim).

Hitler’s Views on Islam

And I quote:
“The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?”

Hitler used the Muslims just as he used everybody else, including the Lutheran Church. He used the Muslims in that region yes. but the vast majority of people who were killed in the 90s, had nothing to do with that era. My reference to Hitler, had more to do with how he used Religious writings to get the people to do what he wanted. Im sure this happened in Yugo slavia to justify the brutality and genocide they were committing. I personally dont care who the agressor is, Christian Muslim whatever. Aggression like this should be stopped, and be stopped immediately. I have no problem with the U.S. being the worlds police, if thats what it takes. peace

Alrighty. I see…🙂

Peace be with you too.

Clearly, it’s all wrong.

What happened in Yugoslavia was quite widely condemned. I haven’t heard any Church try to mitigate or ignore it. In fact you had the problem that the world took sides, even though all three sides were killing each other in extremely horrific ways, the actions of Bosnians was often ignored while the Christian Serbs took the brunt of the condemnation and the Christian Croats picking up most of the rest.

Yes it is, however the OP was asking why Christians don’t condemn other Christians, the answer is we do, it’s the Muslim’s who won’t condemn the actions of their own. Time has nothing to do with it.

Hi Nine_Two. you will notice I left out the Name of the Church that was involved. I did this intentionally. However, to my knowledge and personal interactions with soldiers who did get involved there when the order came down, It was Muslim Mass graves they were guarding. Not Christian Mass Graves. And no, I did not hear much condemnation on the part of the Churches in America at that time. I was a protestant at the time, so I may have missed any declarations from the Catholics and Orthodox in all fairness. I hope we all learned from this ugly chapter and this never happens again. Peace to you and yours. :signofcross:

Regarding Serbia: An Orthodox poster here on CAF by the name of Isa al-Misry long ago posted that the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church forbade any baptisms during the war, lest any Muslim or other non-Orthodox be forcibly converted. No, it doesn’t mitigate the inexcusable atrocities that the Serbian death squads committed, but it does show a proper Christian mindset in the midst of horrors and violence.

Also, while Srebrenica and other massacres of Bosniaks are most well-known, it bears repeating that as in any civil war, this certainly wasn’t one group against others, but all groups each other. Just as Serbs killed Bosniaks and Croats (Korićani Cliffs massacre), so too Croats killed Serbs (Čemerno massacre) and Bosniaks (Doljani massacre), and Bosniaks killed Serbs (Kravica “incident” included 11 civilian deaths; why it’s not classified as a massacre when smaller numbers of killings of Bosniaks are, I don’t know) and Croats (Grabovica massacre).

Not good enough. “Islam is against terrorism” is such a bland blanket statement that it is very easy to say that out of one side of your mouth while not actually condemning terrorism when it comes in the form of actions that you approve of (i.e., yes bin Laden is bad/a terrorist/not a Muslim, but the great and strong Palestinian freedom fighters who blow up buses full of civilians in Israel are another matter!).

Christian apologies must not be good enough either, because they can’t bring the lives lost back. 😦

Do you really think Fox or any mainstream media source is going to allow a Muslim on their program condemning terrorism?
When cows fly.
They have been in the news media. Please demonstrate that they haven’t.
Not that I nor most other people need US muslims to condemn terrorism or proof that they’ve condemned it. That is a given.

What worries us is the significant minority that support terrorism against the West.

Wait, was THAT why I said I find the supposed condemnation insufficient?

No?

Ah, that’s right, no. It wasn’t.
