How is the health care law pro-abortion?

I’m not trying to be argumentative. I really want to know. I’ve heard a lot of rhetoric from pro-life groups saying that it will involve taxpayer-funded abortions, but they don’t explain how. Then there are all kinds of articles from the other side “debunking” this claim. Does anyone really know the answer? Or are followers of both sides just blindly trusting in their own side’s claims?

My understanding is that the new Health Care will use tax payer funding to reimburse insurance companies that allow for abortions… IMHO, It is kind of like laundried drug money and just as tainted…

The people against the health care reforms will probably say its going to increase the risk of cancer, fund terrorism and anything else Americans find sensitive.

I don’t understand why Americans are voting against the health care reform. Taxes may increase yeah, but if you have free health care theres no such thing as health insurance and you get true democracy and freedom because everyone no matter how poor they are can still get medicine. But nooo… it’s communist. 🤷

They could have written the law to prohibit the spending of Tax dollars on abortion…by doing so they lost the Catholic Church’s support of the law…it is intrinsically evil…because it kills innocents… The sad thing is that a lot of good could have been done, but they just had to allow for the payment for the killing of the children…

A lot of people are against it because it allows the government control in one more aspect of our lives! America was founded by those seeking refuge from “big government” and freedom from their lives being dictated by the “powers that be”. Some of us still value our freedom of choice (and I don’t mean that in regards to abortion).

If it’s not “communist”, why are those that refuse it threatened with fines and jail time???

Also, if it’s such a great plan, why are the members of congress that wrote the plan exempt from being forced to have it? If it was so awesome, you’d think they’d be the first to want it???

Just a few things for you to ponder over…

The same reason they have their own personal and private retirement accounts outside of Social Security…

What on Earth?! How is it the government attempting to control your life?!

“Here you go, you can now get your hospital treatment for free.”
“Stop controlling me!”

It’s like someone offering you a gift (but only if you pay postage) and you refusing it because its taking away your free will of buying it yourself! Why are Americans so paranoid of communism?

And it’s not communist. Are the British communist? No we’re not. I have no idea why Americans are running screaming accusing it of being communist just because it removes your right to pay for everything yourselves and get in heavy debt.

Okay, America was founded to get away from the “big goverment”. But look at it this way - the healthcare insurance companies are the ones who are telling you what to do. They’re telling you how much you can claim, they’re telling you they’re not going to pay your fees because of one tiny thing you neglected to tell them before taking out the policy. How are they different from a government controlling your life?

Well, did you miss the where I stated that those who don’t want the healthcare will be FINED and then JAILED??? If that’s not controlling, I don’t know what is!

Next, if you think the insurance companies dictate where and when and how you receive care…take a look at the new bill! and see what the government dictates!

Why are you so concerned about what we want anyway? You seem quite happy in the UK, so why are you getting so worked up about American politics?

Because you will have no choice. You will be told…

Nothing is free it will cost you your autonomy.

No gift at 13 Trillion in debt we cannot afford it, not even the postage. It is Socialism…and we don’t like to have to ask “By Your Leave”…

The British are Socialist…and they accept “By Your Leave” much more than we do.

We can tell them to go away…

Because over here in the UK we find it incredible that you’re voting against your own interest. The government tries to offer you a nationalised health service and you bite it’s hand off for daring to offer you anything because you could buy it yourself! 🤷

I find the notion of Nationalized anytthing as welcomed as Socialism…and National Socialism extremely bad…

It’s because the government wants every man, woman and child in the United States under its thumb. They are attempting to create a secular socialist nation, like Great Britain. As you should know, socialism is an atheistic ideology, which is clearly against Christianity. And as Englishman GK Chesterton once said, “Once you remove God from the State, the State becomes God”.

No, it’s not good.
  1. Taxes will increase. The economy is already bad and millions of people are already barely getting by. Adding more taxes to already-low wages will make people lose their apartments and put people on the streets. And increasing the minimum wage will only make prices go up (supply & demand), so it won’t help. That’s what happened last time minimum wage increased.
  2. If it does pass, here is what will happen.
    i) Health care is there.
ii) There isn’t enough money to cover everyone, even with high taxes, so then the government has to pick and choose who gets health care.
iii) Old people, people with chronic illnesses, people with handicaps (those who “don’t really contibute to society”) get cut off and die.
  3. The doctor-to-patient ratio will increase. If everyone has free health coverage, then it will be almost impossible to get seen. People who aren’t sick and don’t normally go in will get check-ups, and those who are sick will have trouble getting into their doctor. Example: Medications are only prescribed for 30 days. Refills are not allowed because the doctor has to do a blood test each month to determine the dosage and/or whether to switch to a different medication. A patient can only get in once every 45 or 90 days due to the increase in patients.
  4. We already have health coverage programs. People who can afford health care pay for it on their own or their work pays for it. People who cannot afford health care get Medi-Cal, Medi-Caid, and/or are on disability so they can be seen.
  5. Why do we need universal health care? Remember, “there is no such thing as a free lunch.”

Answering the original question, if health care is free and so are medications, then it also means abortions and contraceptives are free. This will make problems worse. If health care is free, people will be more likely to be irresponsible with their sexuality.

People who cannot afford to have kids will have kids when the birth control fails (it’s never 100%, even with perfect use).
This will increase the out-of-wedlock birth rate (it’s already very high at 50%) and the number of children born into broken homes.
It will also increase the number of abortions - if it’s free and not frowned upon by society to murder your child, people are more likely to have abortions.

The percentage of people STDs (mild rash to AIDS) is between 50% and 66.6% for young people ages 15-24. Increased promiscuity exposes people to more diseases, and even if you use a condom, there is a 1:12 chance of failure due to slippage and breakage.

With all due respect, you apparently do not have a full grasp of the problem here. The majority of people here have insurance and are happy with what it provides. Some people who do not have insurance can be helped but that does not mean the whole system should be tossed out and give everyone the same level in inferior healthcare. We have far more people here not paying into the system than you do and a lot more illegals who require health care and are not prepared to pay for it. By law, no hospital can refuse care to anyone who comes to the emergency room. And many, many people get superb care without any cost to them. I have had the experience of having an extremely serious illness in a country with single payer plan and I darn near died. That would not have happened to me in the States.

If you are happy with your “free” healthcare system, I am glad for you. Most of us here would not be.

*"Because over here in the UK we find it incredible that you’re voting against your own interest. The government tries to offer you a nationalised health service and you bite it’s hand off for daring to offer you anything because you could buy it yourself! " *

UK’s governmental health care is so top heavy in administrative costs, that it lacks monies spent toward care and it turns a blind eye to research (so they can pay wages on their bloated system).

dailymail.co.uk/health/article-560161/Prostate-cancer-death-rate-falls-times-faster-U-S-UK-routine-screening.html

“Deaths from prostate cancer have fallen four times more quickly in the U.S. than in Britain since screening was introduced across the Atlantic.”

I heard a member of the UK parliment say that the only other country that hires more people to run a governmental enterprise (UK health care) is the Chinese Red Army.

Your source is the daily mail. Enough said. The Daily Mail hates the national health service. Lack of prostate cancer screening is as much an education problem (telling people to go) than it is proof that the NHS is a load of rubbish.

And yeah, the NHS has faults. But at least I’m never going to be told I am not going to get treated just because I don’t have the money.

With all charity, you folks across the pond have enough to worry about, so how about not being so concerned with our issues?

Is it true in the UK pregnant women are forced to have tests done to show if there are any birth defects? If so they are pushed to abort or they will have to pay out of their pocket?

A priest that I know posted this video on his facebook page the other day. It is worth watching as it is directly relevant to your question:

ObamaCare: The Facts On Abortion

The majority of people here have insurance and are happy with what it provides.
Never have understood why people are happy here with the premiums they pay and the co-pays and the deductibles. And the insurance companies are more or less it appears going to be getting a free ride to continue raising all of those things further blaming their greed on anticipation of the private “exchanges” coming in 2014. I do understand why most seniors are pleased enough though with the government run healthcare system called Medicare.
