How is the health care law pro-abortion?

Never have understood why people are happy here with the premiums they pay and the co-pays and the deductibles. And the insurance companies are more or less it appears going to be getting a free ride to continue raising all of those things further blaming their greed on anticipation of the private “exchanges” coming in 2014. I do understand why most seniors are pleased enough though with the government run healthcare system called Medicare.
If the group is strong, then the premiums, co-pays and deductibles are affordable. The worse policies are private policies. I’ve had both and different times in my life. And hands down, mom’s Medicare is the best, and she would be in deep trouble without those benefits…Medicare, therefore, is a very important issue to me.

My understanding is that the new Health Care will use tax payer funding to reimburse insurance companies that allow for abortions… IMHO, It is kind of like laundried drug money and just as tainted…
Hyde amendment remains the law of the land and the POTUS signed his executive order reaffirming it to get anti choice folks like Catholic congressman Bart Stupak on board. And my understanding is if a woman chooses abortion coverage from a company in the private insurance exchange that will be offered in 2014, she will have to pay a separate premium for that coverage. And any subsidy she might possibly receive based on income could not be used towards the separate abortion coverage premium.

Rence, I had a mom too and I know how important Medicare was to her. A God-send in my book. I have other family whose Medicare is much better and more affordable than their employer based coverage ever was. No pay raise every yr but their employer was making changes in plans and their out of pocket just kept increasing with not so great coverage. I have family right now who can not afford their employer based coverage. But maybe their groups weren’t/aren’t strong enough.

Is there evidence that the Hyde Amendment will be disregarded or not enforced? Because the Amendment was supposed to be inclusive as to all abortions, and would not make exceptions for women not in a position to pay.

(For every warning statement by any Catholic, I have heard the contrary claim by those who worked on the bill.)

The intent of the bill is not to selectively neutralize the Hyde Amendment.

Let me tell you I just finished dealing with my insurance company over a routine claim, and boy what bastards they are. There is no low to which they will not stoop when a patient is fully covered and fully paid for. Their chief goal is to deny all claims no matter how legitimate. Goal #2, if #1 cannot be reached, is to delay for as long as possible the payout. Their methods for doing this are outright lies, deception, fabricated excuses, and stalling. The tactic is to so wear the claimant out that eventually the claimant will give up pursuing the claim out of exhaustion and frustration. I actually had to get the State Insurance Commissioner involved, just so that they would stop playing games after 7 weeks of having receiving every piece of abundant documentation. There was nothing to investigate, and the maximums they pay for procedures are small – hardly the most generous of benefits. These are not platinum policies. They’re just flat-out liars, arms of the devil. They, and other insurance companies, treat dying people and their survivors like garbage as well.

Yeah, I’d say they represent the pinnacle of morality (Not.)

Is it true in the UK pregnant women are forced to have tests done to show if there are any birth defects? If so they are pushed to abort or they will have to pay out of their pocket?
Forced to have tests done? They’re offered. The woman is asked whether she wants to know if the baby has cerebal palsy or any other defect. If she says yes then she’s told - same with the gender of the baby it’s up to the mother. Yes tests are normally done but they’re not pushed to abort - in this country its illegal to abort after a certain amount of weeks, but there is no limit on the amount of weeks if the baby has a defect. Where on earth did you hear they would have to pay out of their own pocket? That’s ridiculous, they never will have to pay for the rest of their pregnancy treatement if the baby has a defect.

Basically, pregnant women in the UK should go for scans on pre-determined weeks. One of them is to check for deformities. Are you American? It sounds like you think our healthcare system is communist. No one is forced to have treatement under the NHS and everyone has the right to refuse it, pregnant or not.

POTUS without saying fabricated is a politician and did what politicians do…“read that as you may”… ( youtube.com/watch?v=lW1DuhBRoUw ) If this were not the case then the USCCB would support the bill. Catholic universal health care has been a dream of the USCCB, but only IF abortion is not allowed. Since abortion is allowed the USCCB cannot support this law. Now ask yourself would you rather believe your Bishops or POTUS? What is in it for either group on an ideological level? Does the USCCB gain by NOT supporting this if in fact abortion is not allowed? I think not…

The people against the health care reforms will probably say its going to increase the risk of cancer, fund terrorism and anything else Americans find sensitive.

I don’t understand why Americans are voting against the health care reform. Taxes may increase yeah, but if you have free health care theres no such thing as health insurance and you get true democracy and freedom because everyone no matter how poor they are can still get medicine. But nooo… it’s communist. 🤷
Most people I know want health care reform.Govt. run Medicare is wrought with fraud…What people didn’t want was it rammed down their throat…Read it after it’s passed…My wife and I make 28k gross…She has an excellent health care plan…Now we find out the cost will make a big leap and we will lose a bennie card that provided us with the $500 deductible…Some law change eliminated that .Why couldn’t they just work fixing Medicare and graft those eligible for Medicaid in there.Put the younger in a system like our Pa chips program…People aren’t stupid like some say…They just see the flawed law as it is…

Hyde amendment remains the law of the land
The Hyde ammendment does not apply to monies gathers under the name of ‘premiums’. Since they are not gathered as part of the Health and Human Services budget, they are not subject to the Hyde provisions ( which is actually and ammendment to the HHS budget).

A great example of this was the recent bill to allow abortions to be conducted at military hospitals. The cost of abortions for military personell was to be part of the Defense Budget, and thus bypassing Hyde.
and the POTUS signed his executive order reaffirming it
The executive order is meaningless. Executive Orders are not enforcable in court. If Sebelius issued instructions to have abortions covered, we could not have a court enforce the E.O. The only one who can enforce it would be the President himself. And given his track record on the subject, Pro-life Catholics have little trust for him in that matter.
