How Long Does It Take For You To Pray A Five Decade Rosary?

It takes me an hour due to the fact that at each mystery I have tons of intentions plus I tend to say the prayers slowly. The only exception to the 1 hour rule is if I pray the rosary along with Mother Angelica on EWTN…I don’t have time to stop and say a bunch of intentions as I am trying to keep up with praying the rosary…so it takes about 30 minutes.

So its…1 hour if by myself… 30 minutes with Mother Angelica.

God bless 😃

it would maybe take me fourty five minutes…do you add the intentions to each bead? or each decade?

I say the intentions after I have stated the mystery. Like this “The first Glorious mystery…the Resurrection…meditate on that mystery…then say my intentions”.

God bless

+For many years now . . .at the start of our busy days . . . we have prayed the early morning Holy Rosary Pray:gopray2:er led by Father Mitch Pacwa . . . during his devout inspirational and beautiful presentations on EWTN . . . which includes Blessed John Paul the Great’s Luminous Mysteries . . . it seems to take apx. 20 minutes . . . with one of the wonderful Holy Litany pray:gopray2:ers of the church immediately following . . . *which addition I love . . . *

At night we take it slower . . . about 45 minutes . . .

. . . all for Jesus+
. . . thank You Dear Lord+
. . . thank You Gracious Heavenly Father+
. . . thank You Sweet Spirit of our Holy God+
. . . thank you Blessed Virgin Mary+
. . . thank you Holy Mother Church+

It takes me about 30 minutes, give or take a few in either direction.

I pray for all of my intentions at the very start of the rosary rather than at each decade or each bead. Despite this, it still takes me at least 30 minutes to pray the rosary. It used to take me 45 minutes to an hour to pray it because I would stop after announcing each mystery to read the passage of Scripture that relates to that mystery to help me better meditate on it (i.e. the entire infancy account given in Luke, or the description of the Lord’s crucifixion in John, etc.). However, I realized that this was a little too much as I know these passages almost by heart and don’t really need to read them each time to recall the events.

I love the rosary though, it really has helped to strengthen my faith so much. The Blessed Mother has really worked hard to keep me following her Son. 🙂

I have to say it fast, I can’t concentrate for a very long period before my adhd and ocd kicks in. It’s hard to focus and stay on topic when my head is going a million miles an hour.

Same. I just can go for more than 10 minutes. It’s especially bad during Adoration where I sit for an hour. I get horrible images flashing across my mind [if you understand what I mean] etc. My mind travels at 1000miles an hour. The only thing that settles me is reading and even then I have to go over things three times.

On work mornings, I listen to the iPhone Rosary app that features the audio of Daughters of St. Paul. That takes exactly my drive to work (30 min), and includes the rosary, meditations, and the Litany of Loreto at the end. I have Fr. Groechel’s “The Rosary Is A Place”, but that takes about 45 minutes to listen to from beginning to end, so I tend to listen to my iPhone App instead.

20 minutes. The faster I go the better I concentrate. Sometimes I say more than one a day.

It takes me 20 to 30 minutes. Sometimes I say all my intentions before beginning the Rosary, other times before each decade. Each decade has a little meditation regardless of where I put my intentions. After I say the Hail Holy Queen, The Rosary Prayer (I think that is the name of it but I am bot sure), and the Memorare.

20 minutes with Father Mitch
25 minutes before Mass recitation
30 minutes with Mother Angelica

On average, it’s pretty steady at around 30 minutes.

Grace and peace.

If I’m saying it fast and having to constantly check which mystery is next, 25 minutes or so. If I take my time with it I’ll spend over half an hour praying the rosary. I haven’t quite taken to it yet 😦 I prefer the Divine Mercy chaplet and praying the Holy Souls rosary. If I pray to Our Lady I tend to do it mentally as I say my prayers before bed, or perhaps while I’m doing some task around the home/at work. 🙂

Structured/recorded Rosaries all seem to take about 20 minutes, with a few lasting 30 or so. However, prayed by myself, many take longer, since my contemplation tends to continue for an indefinite period of time.

people pray the rosary differently, some pray fast others slow so it will be interesting to see how long it takes everybody:D
depends, with a group you have to go the same speed (I usually run out of breath, especially in Spanish, where evidentally they have been taught not to take a breath when leading the rosario).

walking, once around the golf course for a complete 20 decade rosary, or twice around our park, including the side streets and cul-de-sacs, 50-60 minutes.

If I am praying one set of mysteries, I frequently get “stuck” on one decade or mystery and remain in meditation on that mystery for a while, half hour or so, depending on if something interrupts me. I once meditated for several months on Finding Jesus in the Temple when my own daughter was “lost” in her life.

I will sometimes pray a thorough Scriptual Rosary. I use Edward Sri’s book on Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries. It is very beautiful, however, it takes a good bit of time and so I fall short in commiting to it as often as I should.

Check out Dr.Sri’s book, you will find it well worth it! Peace, Carlan

:rotfl:

Me too!!! if i pray it in a group setting i just cannot keep up:banghead:…they say each prayer so fast it seems like they are competing to be the first to finish saying each prayer:whistle: and my brain and tongue just cannot keep up…and i end up feeling like i havent prayed properly:bigyikes:

Latino´s tend to speak very quickly in general…especially us Puerto Ricans lol We tend to cut Spanish words in half in our street talk and it sounds like ´pa que quieres eso sin no tiene na¨ LOL

I can´t pray the rosary with my mom for this reason as she never takes a breather. I tell her how can you possibly be able to meditate on the mysteries when you are praying so fast and her answer to that is ¨Why can´t you?" 😛 Oh well.
