Peace,
How many Christians here read the Quran not read about the Quran? I am so curious to know. Please be honest.
in peace,
dr0ws

Dont know if I would be classified as “Christian”, but yes I have read the Quran.

Thank you Karin, for caring to reply (although you didn’t vote : 🙂 )

But so far in this Catholic-Muslim formu while bias against Islam gets heated up, most people read about the Quran not really read it. Funny.

1st- when I replied there was no survey…so I have now voted 😃 .
2nd-i read about the Quran and I have also read it…I can not quote you chapter and verse from it & neither can I do that with the Bible…but rest assured that I have read the actual words printed between the covers of the Quran!

can this be one thread that no muslim “bashing” takes place?? dr0ws just asked a simple question.

“No the Bible suffices me.” I do not believe that the Qu’ran is ture, I believe in the Bible, but I have at elast read some of it. Like if on this ite I am pointed to a certain section of it. SO I picked that one.

thank you SO much Karin, i am getting exhausted from it, and all I can say is thank you thank you thank you :tiphat: :clapping: :dancing:

I’ve read sections of the Quran, but I don’t know that I’ll even sit down and read the whole thing through. The reason is that I’ve read enough to know that the book is not what it purports to be, and therefore I’m comfortable not studying it thoroughly. This is not intended as an insult at all, just an pre-emptive answer to those who might ask why I feel the way I do. I don’t think I’ll ever read the whole Chronicles of Narnia, either, though I’ve heard nothing but good about it.

Yes, and much hadith and commentary on both and commentary on the interpretation of the Shariah and a few interpretations of the Shariah. Unfortunatelly eventhough I voted yes I will say with honesty that I have not because I cannot read in Arabic so as any good follower of Islam knows if it is in any other translation other than Arabic then it is not the Quaran but an interpretation of the Quran. But for practical purposes I said yes.

In my very early twenties, I read the Quoran through. It was interesting. It has been a long time though and my copy was not in the original Arabic.

I don’t really see a choice on your poll that says “I read it once.”

Back in the days when I was a semi-practicing Muslim I read the Quran on a daily basis. Both in Arabic (which I only could read, but not understand) and an English translation.

I don’t read the Quran any more. I only look up certain verses online when they have been quoted on a messageboard. I don’t own any copies of the Quran today. I have an English Bible and I try to get my hand on a Norwegian Bible. There is an online Norwegian Bible that I read regularly with the English one on the side for comparison.

I have read many surras and passages in English. I am told that this is not the equivalent as reading the Arabic, but I assumed on the poll you meant in English. I don’t think I have read it all, as it was bits here and there over time.

I did also turn to general books that explained Islam as a religion (like a world religion text). I found “the cow”, if I recall, interesting. It was many years ago that I read it.

I don’t have a copy. I would be interested in doing so.

Have you read the Catholic Bible?

Although I didn’t vote, I only read the Quran based on the translations being made available online. I don’t know how to read Arabic nor do I understand it.

I have 2 new testaments, king james, but to be honest Ive hardly read it. I have read it, just not much.

It might help to get an easier version to read. Although the King James version is beautifuly written, it is a bit difficult to read.

I am 38 now, and I read the Quran in my early twenties. My memory might not be correct on this, but I don’t remember any of the beautiful poetry in the Quran that you find in the Psalms and Song of Solomon. Is that correct?

The qur’an in arabic is really much better than any poetry ive ever seen. The words match the sound of their meaning, it rhymes, it has rhythm, its really powerful.
