It’s great reading posts and communicating with fellow lay Catholics on what is the best Catholic forum on the Internet. It’s even more special when members of the Clergy or other Religious post here. I know of Father edward_george1 and at least one Deacon (sorry I forget his handle) who post here. Who are other bishops, priests, deacons, seminarians, brothers or sisters who post here?
Thanks

I believe I have come across a couple brothers (a Franciscan and a Dominican I want to say) a sister, a couple seminarians, three deacons, and two priests. But I am not sure of the user names, I recognize the names and pictures when I see them lol

I doubt they all want to be called out. There are several. Some make their vocations known and some don’t. The Bat priest and inthepew are the most visible clergy here, I believe. Crm_brother posts some as well.

Present!
In (Orthodox) canons, Readers are the first level of clergy (followed by subdeacon, deacon, priest, Bishop)

There were three priests and a deacon, who all self-identified as such, who used to post here regularly up to last year, but departed during the months when everybody and his brother was getting suspended from here. I miss them. I did not always agree with them but I learned from each of them.

We also have/had a Rabbi with us. Not sure if he is still active

Father Sebastian used to post occasionally. Excellent when it comes to inside on Byzantine Liturgy and theology.

Yes but my recalling is that he left by his own choice because in certain arguments he was literally shown no respect.
There used to be a Don here too, who was retired, he was also being floored by some people because they didn’t find his responses were orthodox enough by some other “specialists”. And he was one of the theologians who said he participated at the official discussions with the Anglicans. But some people just know bettah!

This is kind of what I was going to say. The disrespect that was shown to the clergy posting here by the resident armchair theologians and canon experts drove many away.

It was also forbidden, at least in the past, to come to the defense of the clergy on here. One time I told one of these annoying armchair experts who was hassling Fr. David to leave him alone as he was a priest and clearly had the experience to know what he was talking about. I ended up getting flagged and my posts removed for defending the priest.

Don Ruggero got suspended for complaining about the suspension of a poster (nunsuch? ) who was a nun with a PhD and had someone with little knowledge arguing with her over a point she clearly had great expertise in. She got suspended. Don Ruggero complained about her suspension, then he got suspended. He’s not really been back since. A sad loss.

Wow. I guess I miss a lot of drama here as I only visit on occasion. It saddens me that many of us have been disrespected by the armchair brigade.

One my tougher questions was answered on the forum and through PM by a clergy member that does not seem to post often. I’m not going to go out of my way to “out” anybody. I’m sure there are risks for a clergy member who will obviously have a very public role “somewhere” to post here. I was just happy to get helpful responses.

So…yes…they’re here.

I don’t know the specific incident you are referring too. However, I’ve certainly received warnings on other unrelated forums for even small complaints about moderation. That is a surefire way to get suspended anywhere…it’s not what you are doing here…of course.

I’m just factually recounting what happened.

In all honesty, I and many others on here can see why clergy and religious and anyone with expertise in a particular area would become frustrated with some of the posters who insist on their own viewpoint and want to argue about it, even when someone has explained in great detail why it is incorrect. It’s great that we have a few priests and religious who are even still willing to post here.
