How many of you pray the Liturgy of the Hours? I have the entire four volumn set.
The LOTH or Breviary always have four volume set. There are two version. The full leather version, and there a paper cover with color leather cover. The contents are the same but the cover is completely different. I have the color Liturgy of the Hours set.How fortunate you posted this, Manny! I’ve been contemplating the LOTH and want to start, also.
A question, if someone can answer: Is the LOTH the same, no matter the year? I ask because I’m eyeing the leather-bound 4-volume set of the LOTH, and didn’t know if that was for only one year or if it’s perennial (for lack of a better word).
In the meantime, I’m printing up stuff from Universalis.com and ebreviary.com, and didn’t know if those prayers changed every year, too.
Help!
We are in Volume III now that’s only until we do Volumn II which begins in Feb 6 to May 11I do the Office Reading, Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Night Prayer using the 4 volume set.
I am glad we are now off of Vol 1. I was getting tired of Isaiah.
Do you pray the Breviary? For those not familiar with the Divine Office, I came across this site which provides a daily audio podcast of the Morning and Evening prayers.

The 4-volume set is used “perennially” as you put it, meaning it is good for all future years, unless the Vatican chooses to issue a revision. How fortunate you posted this, Manny! I’ve been contemplating the LOTH and want to start, also.

eta: just noticed that you have the 4-volume set; I’m assuming you pray the LOTH regularly, Manny?
O yeah…I fell in love with it in 2006.Do you pray the Breviary?
I started praying it during my second Deployment in Iraq. I started off with the Christian Prayer then I move to the entire volume in June I think… I’m not sure the exact date… but I fell in love with it… I have my favorite… It’s Volume 4.or Volume 1 (I forgot which Volume it was. I forgot which Saint wrote it…)O yeah…I fell in love with it in 2006.My brother just purchased the set too:extrahappy:
I know. Switched books this morning. If seemed the majority of the First Office Readings were from Isaiah for Advent and Christmas (i.e. Vol 1).We are in Volume III now that’s only until we do Volumn II which begins in Feb 6 to May 11
and start Volume III again in May 12 to Aug 2… Volume IV in Aug 3- Nov 29…
That’s just the minimum. I noticed a large number of the laity has been reading it nowadays. It’s meant primarily for the religious.I’m in college too and its really difficult to find time to do the full LOTH so i normally just do morning, evening, and night prayer. Sometimes i do the daytime prayers if i can find the time but that usually doesn’t happen. It’s such a great way to pray though and i love doing it.
You can start shopping online to find used one. I’m sure there are plenty out there. I think Amazon have some…Yep, now I definitely want the 4-volume leather LOTH to last me a lifetime.
Hmm, must start saving up. . .![]()
