I was 21, my husband was 26. We;ve been married for 2 1/2 years. awww. LOL <3

My Great Great Grandfather was 45 when he married his 17 yr old bride and they went on to have 12 kids. He lived into his 90’s and she into her 80’s. Four of their kids also had 12 kids and of of that generation one also had 12 kids. Twins came out in each generation and the last who had 12 kids began with twin boys and finished with twin girls. In the middle was my mother who went on to have seven. She also had twins. One of my brothers had twins first up.
That;s a lot of Catholics! 😃
Makes me think of Braveheart “If we can’t get them out, we’ll breed them out…”

😉

Well, I was 25…but you had 25 in two options! So I picked the first option where I saw 25. 😛 Makes me feel good. 😃

I was 20, DH was 23. Married in the early 90’s. DH was working on his master’s, I had one semester left on my bachelor’s, which I completed.

I think it’s not about age so much as about maturity and a good, Catholic understanding of what marriage is about.

We are all of irish descent - both sides of the family and all the way down.

We started dating in high school. When I was 20 and DH was 21 we were married. We will celebrate 35 years of marriage:love: in October. While I do consider that young & the first 5 years were really tough, we were determined to make it work!

We started dating at 18 and 19 and we married when I was 22 and he was 23. I don’t feel like that was too young at all. I was very immature but having a baby cured that right up! 😛 I don’t see marrying and having children in one’s early 20s as young. I thought it was typical?

Oh, I understand perfectly. I went through it myself, that is, inherited/bought a farm and didn’t get married until I was 39. Sheesh, years of hard work just to buy a bloody bed!
Not to mention it slowed down the reading of “that book”. 😊

I had just turned 22, DH was 26. By that time we’d been engaged 2 1/2 years during which he’d joined the military and trained and I’d gone to nursing school.

I didn’t think marrying and having children in one’s early 20’s was doing it very young either. I have noticed more people marrying/having children later lately, but I think its for other reasons. Sure there are some people that lack maturity, character, etc to make such a commitment, but I think its not their age but their shortcomings or lack of development in those areas and there are people past 30 that still have these problems.

I married when I was 23 and had my first baby on my 24th bday, but my mom and my sis had married at 22 and had their first children at 23 (my mom on her 23rd bday) so I felt like I was a year late lol. I got married 5.5 yrs ago, my sis about 8, so both of us in the 2000’s. My mom in th '70’s (second half).

I married at 22, two years younger than my grandmother had been in the early 1900s and almost 6 years younger than Mom had been when she married in 1952.

My first came less than a month before my 26th birthday; Mom had me when she was 29.

First time me 15, him 19 , also no shotgun marriage, not that it would matter. Married 43 yrs. before his death. Second time 62, him 63, married 9 years.
God bless you and your husbands! What a great example to us all!!

wow

I can’t imagine my 15 year old daughter married!

I was 22. He was 24. going on 19 years now!

Our first year was hard. And, years 8&9 were rough. Other than that, it’s been lovely.

I was 20 he was 27. That was after knowing each other a grand total of 9 months. We are now going to celebrate 15 years this summer. I truly believe that God created us for each other we come from two totally separate backgrounds but yet we are so alike.

We were both 23, had known each other since we were 18.

Been married 26 years.

23 years of wedded bliss…😊 (Some of the ones in the middle weren’t so hot)

I was 21 and my wife was 20 when we were married. We have been married for 47 years. We struggled through many problems when we were young and only though the grace of God did we make it. We made it because we took our vows seriously, we attended church and took all three of our kids there, we prayed a lot and put our family before most other things in our lives. We were dedicated to each other and loved others as we love ourselves. Couples must be willing to sacrafice part of themselves to make a marriage work.
