How old were you when you had your first steady boyfriend or girlfriend?

I had my first boyfriend at 12. We met at a singing competition (I won of course). šŸ˜›

Freshman year of college…first ā€œrealā€ boyfriend I suppose…I had friends of the male persuasion up until that point…but I never went on dates, etc. until collegeā€¦šŸ™‚

When I was in kindergarten I told a boy he was my boyfriend. About two weeks later I told him he wasn’t my boyfriend anymore.

Does that count as steady? šŸ˜›

Wow. I don’t think I could stand that waiting. If I don’t have a girlfriend by the time I’m 25, I might as well become a priest.
I had my first gf at 26 (last year), she broke up with me 3 weeks later. However, I really don’t want to be a priest, or for that matter, a monk. I’m still waiting…but I’m not desperate, though.

I had my first date with my now husband when I was 19 but I don’t know whether he counted as a ā€œsteadyā€ boyfriend back then. But we did see each other more or less regularly until we got married seven years later.

😃 Now if you count the boy I had a mad crush on in kindergarten (who liked me too) then perhaps I was five when I had my first steady boyfriend. šŸ˜›
I thought all the girls in my kindergarten classes (there were three classes of about 20 each at my school) were all pretty mean and/or ugly. šŸ˜‰ Now, there was one who took a liking for me, though I did not necessarily reciprocate.

Back in 4th grade (at another school, a parochial one), I had a serious crush on a girl in 6th grade. It lasted for the year, that is, the crush, though we never talked with each other.

26 and I married him…we’ve been married for 7 happy years

I was 18, he’s now my husband.šŸ™‚ He was also my first boyfriend. (I was and still am very shy)

I was 18 and a freshman at university. We had met before when I’d spent time at my godmother’s home and he called me to invite me to a function at his residence. We spent all our time together after that. When, under the influence of alcohol, he proposed at the end of the year I laughed at him and he was mightily offended. I explained that marriage was something I’d never thought of and that I saw very far off in the future if ever.

When I returned home a few weeks later I realized how free I was not to have to see him but I didn’t know how to tell him that. We corresponded for a few months then he showed up at my home for a visit. Two days into the visit we went for a walk and he told me he loved me. I cried because I knew I was going to hurt him and told him I didn’t love him. He got very angry and at the dinner table that night he called me a lesbian, using a term that my parents didn’t understand and I got scolded for getting upset. I’ve never seen him again.

A few months later, a week after my 19th birthday, I met a 24 year old man I fell in love with immediately. He proposed two weeks later and I said yes but we both knew it couldn’t happen right away. After being together for 6 months we settled on careers and both went away to study. I was in school on the east coast while he travelled all over Canada as he progressed in his career in the military. We eventually married, a scant few weeks past our third ā€˜meeting’ anniversary. This October we’ll celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.

My first boyfriend lasted 11 months when I was 14 (my parents forbade me to talk to him once I had the guts to tell them). Then my second boyfriend lasted 13 months when I was 15-16 (We grew up, and apart). The I had a few ā€œdatesā€ that maybe lasted a week or so before meeting my Fiance (: ā¤ļø

I was seventeen when my best girlfriend set me up with a guy. We went out for about three or four months, probably. I was way too young and immature for a dating relationship at that age, so of course the whole thing ended disastrously. I feel sorry for that poor boy!

I dated a few more boys until I was 19, all disastrous relationships - and then I dropped out of the scene until I was 23, which I think was a much better age - I was a lot more mature, and a much kinder person, by that age. I dated two men - the first was Stephen, and I still keep track of him through his mother. The second was my current husband - we dated for about a year and a half before we got married - I was 25 and about to turn 26 at the time of the wedding. šŸ™‚

I’m pretty much not the norm. But I met my husband when we were Sophmores in highschool. I knew right away that I would marry him.

We dated all through high school… and seperate colleges. I was NOT going to get married right out of high school…

We graduated, announced our engagement, we were married a year after that… 14 years and still running…

BTW, I was also raised to care for my chasitity… I was not having sex as a teenager! The fact that he respected that was big…

I think it’s hard when God throws your soul mate infront of you at a young age…

Hmm, I dated two guys in 8th grade and one freshman year. Now I’m single as I have grown up quite a bit. Not into the whole ā€˜dating’ thing anymore. My last boyfriend I had, was a very serious relationship. But its one heck of a long story, so I won’t go there.

I had my first boyfriend when I was 14. We lasted 8 months, which is practically forever in high school time! It was actually he and his family that introduced me to the Church (his mom is a DRE) and I am still close with his family.

Had a few other relationships, and then met my hubby when I was 24, knew he was for me by our 5th date, engaged at 25 and married at 26!

I’m very grateful to the guys I dated, some more seriously than others. Most were perfect gentlemen (one in college wasn’t so gentlemanly, but he got pushed in a snowbank and learned real fast that I don’t take kindly to being treated, ummm, not like a lady). From each relationship, I learned something about myself and about what I was looking for in a husband. šŸ™‚

I’ve had ā€œboyfriendsā€ since 3rd grade, but I don’t count anything until high school, and even then, we didn’t see each other much except for at school. I had maybe 2 actual boyfriends before DH, and we dated for awhile, and when we realized it wasn’t going to go any further we decided to move on. No sense in wasting both of our time. I started dating my last serious boyfriend shortly before I turned 17. We had known each other since 7th/8th grade and actually hung out a lot with friends and just us beforehand, but he was a grade ahead of me and heading off to college and we decided to make it official and do the long distance thing for a year. That was in 2003. We stuck it out and have been married 2 years now. šŸ™‚

I had my first boyfriend when I was 15yrs.old. We didn’t really date but we stayed together for about 8 months. Then I got a job and started dating at 16 yrs old. We dated through high school and then got married in August. We were both 18 yrs. old. We have been married for 33 years.

Ive had other boyfriends too, but im talking my main ones, or ones that i would consider quite significant. Are we supposed to list them all? šŸ˜›

Depends on how you define things…

I had my first ā€œboyfriendā€ when I was 17 but it was pretty much in name only. We went to one movie together and I was dumped within a week. šŸ˜›

My first long-term ā€œdiscerning marriageā€ relationship started when I was 19 when I became more involved with another good friend from my high school years who was popping up into my life over and over. Five years later we got married.
