Isn’t receiving sacraments a good enough reason? There is no alternative.
If you had to stay in China not for 4 weeks but for 40 years, are you still saying you will abstain from going to Mass for 40 years?

What valid sacraments did Stalin provide as an alternative to persecution?

That’s a very looooooooooooooong stretch indeed.
It’s actually not, and can’t imagine why you’d think it is.

Having talked to both Chinese and former North Koreans (and former Soviets who grew up behind the Iron Curtain), I assure you - the parallel is valid. Communism is indeed Communism. Don’t let the Chinese façade of veiled “capitalism” fool you.

The China you see is not the China most Chinese live. And the PRK that the press sees (NBC, I’m a lookin’ at you) is assuredly not what the actual citizens experience.

I have a feeling you only talk to pro west anti china chinese. I talk to both.

So ok let’s test this.
Please name one kindergarten in China where this is still happening as mentioned by the poster above.

“They are taught to turn in their parents for the slightest infraction against the state before the first grade.”

I’m always fascinated by people who claim china is still communism.
No one can deny that china has lifted millions of people out of poverty with its economic growth, the most the world has ever seen in the shortest period of time. I think it’s wise for the west to admit that this is due to capitalism (and that’s what the majority say). To say otherwise is embarrassing. Because that would mean communism was responsible for this. (Unless you are someone who refuses to believe the economic miracle and you believe the earth is flat)
So don’t let the facade of communism fool you of the capitalism - albeit china style.

I am actually surprised that CAF is available in China. I thought that government only allowed the state-controlled Patriotic Church to speak about Catholicism.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
Thus, my suspicion…

The original point was that sort of thing DOES go on. And yes, in China, and in other Communist nations to this very day. Doesn’t matter whom I talk to.

The horse is dead.

I think the chinese government loves you. You make a great chinese spy.

Oh please. Just avoid the realm of the ridiculous here - although I’d say it’s a bit late to ask for that.

China need Americans like you to continue think this way. Please continue.
I love it!
I love Trump! The world loves Trump especially Putin and Xi. Hope he wins a second term.
Bring on the trade war! I love it!
Disband NATO!
I hope you will vote for Trump next time.

What in the name of all things holy does that have to do with anything?

I’m a military officer and 100% apolitical. I just came off a one year tour in South Korea where I met all sorts of different people from PRK and China in the course of official duties. Your post is amusing to me - mostly because it makes no sense whatsoever. LOL.

Clearly you have zero point to make, because you’ve degenerated into the ridiculous. Good day to you.

夏虫不可语冰…
Per Google Translate, that makes no sense whatsoever. You’ve nothing left to discuss with me, so the thread is about to be silenced. Enjoy.

夏虫不可语冰
It is a metaphor.
The frog that lives in a well cannot talk about the sea because the well constrains it.
The worm in summer cannot talk about the winter because of lack of exposure to it.

It is “ignorance” similar to the famous Marie Antoinette quote, “Let them eat cake…”

When I visited mainland China I was told to go to a Vatican controlled Catholic Church I would be required to show my passport, as those are for foreigners. As I understand it there are separate from Rome Chinese government approved Catholic Churches for citizens. I would find a government approved Catholic Church for citizens of China so that you are not going to get into trouble. Hopefully at some point in the future the Vatican and China will be on better terms. God Bless.
