The Chinese just type how a word SOUNDS using the English alphabet, and it autocorrects to the most likely character. Then they can press a button to cycle through I believe

Your method sounds very Protestant.

So what Pope Benedict wrote was not good enough for you? You think he is wrong too?

Please quote an official canonist on this matter.

In any case we cannot expect every Catholic to be well versed in canonical legalities. The pope is meant to be shepherd to us all. If we don’t listen to him over matters like this I don’t know who else to listen to.

Ok let’s change a different track since we are going nowhere.
Under what circumstances can you receive communion from a patriotic chinese bishop under this canon law? Or are you saying it never applies?
If you say it never applies here then in what other situations does it apply?

So your interpretation of “physically or morally impossible to approach a Catholic minister” means ONLY danger of death?

Anyway I agree it’s no use arguing. The language is plain for everyone to see.

It’s definitely ok to receive communion from a patriotic chinese catholic bishop when it’s physically impossible to approach a Catholic Bishop in communion with the Pope as per the canon law. Can’t see what’s so difficult about this.

The canon law, Pope Benedict and this website agrees with me on this point.

It is a metaphor.
The frog that lives in a well cannot talk about the sea because the well constrains it.
The worm in summer cannot talk about the winter because of lack of exposure to it.

It is “ignorance” similar to the famous Marie Antoinette quote, “Let them eat cake…”
What Google gave me wasn’t even coherent English. I know what metaphors are, but the translation totally garbled it. I’m not daft - but having used Google Translate extensively during my year in Korea I know that it’s not always accurate. You should see what it told me was on a bottle of what turned out to be olive oil.

I have the screenshot. It said the bottle said “(poo) together”. No, I’m not making that up.

I poo you not.

The Russian Orthodox Church was tolerated to the extent they could openly have Divine Liturgy.

The patriotic church in mainland China is a fake Catholic Church.
If Catholics were to obey the Russian government in this, they also should have joined the Orthodox Church in Russia when the Russian government officially dissolved the Ukranian Catholic Church and told the Eastern Rite Catholics there to all join the Orthodox Church. They should have joined the Church of England when the Catholic Church was outlawed in England for several hundred years, and everyone was ordered by law to attend the Church of England… They should have joined the Lutheran Church in Germany, Scandinavia and Holland when the Catholic Church was outlawed in those lands, so they were left with no priests, no mass.
For me, I will die a Catholic no matter what and not obey men but God if it came to such a case.

That’s correct. Hence it would be so good when the Vatican finally does a deal with China!
Pray that will happen soon.

You have to go underground. Don’t go to the mainstream national church.

Characters represent syllables (and morphemes). The majority of Chinese words consist of more than one character.

(I once made a very valiant effort to learn Mandarin.)
