Well, it was a bit provocative, don’t you think?
So, you don’t think that’s a serious problem - - that the pope says things that are confusing to the faithful? i.e. harmful to the Church?Blockquote
Although, to be honest, the more I live under this Pope as a Catholic,
the more I’m confused by him. But that’s for another thread.

Well, this is close to what I was hoping in terms of bringing forth questions. As best as I can tell, this is what he said:Seriously though, why would the pope insult Catholic families with many children?
So, we are to first look at what he said in a favorable way. If you were to make the same statement, why would you have said it, given that you would have had good intent?Every good Christian ought to be more ready to give a favorable interpretation to another’s statement than to condemn it. But if he cannot do so, let him ask how the other understands it. And if the latter understands it badly, let the former correct him with love. If that does not suffice, let the Christian try all suitable ways to bring the other to a correct interpretation so that he may be saved.
What if people in Church leadership are harming the Church? Whether it’s confusing teaching or child abuse, or Magdalen laundries? Are we not allowed to speak up, or would people here consider that “bearing a grudge”?!I’m not sure I’d say he’s a living saint…I don’t know him personally or know too much of what he has done.
But people shouldn’t bear grudges and what not.
Good to forgive others.
Imagine if you were forgiven your large debt but then nearly kill this other person for their debt against you, to paraphrase our Lord.
We are aloud to “speak up”, for sure. I person can speak up with a forgiving heart. If they are not ready to forgive, that is something that will hopefully be brought forth. I hope you can respond to my first reply to you, for that is what I wanted for this thread. What if people in Church leadership are harming the Church? Whether it’s confusing teaching or child abuse, or Magdalen laundries? Are we not allowed to speak up, or would people here consider that “bearing a grudge”?!
There’s a lot of qualifiers there regarding making our opinions known “on matters which pertain to the good of the Church”. Even if we have issues, I think we need to be very discerning about how we voice those issues.Canon 212 §3. According to the knowledge, competence, and prestige which they possess, they have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church and to make their opinion known to the rest of the Christian faithful, without prejudice to the integrity of faith and morals, with reverence toward their pastors, and attentive to common advantage and the dignity of persons.
