I’m working through that very course myself currently. It was hard to choose which one to do first, lemme tell ya. 😃 Can’t wait to read them all!!
👍 I couldn’t agree more! I’m currently working my way through their newest course.

Thank you for the Link. I just submitted my info to enroll this class “Christ’s Mother and Ours”
One of the first that I ever did, and one of my favorites.

BTW guys, if you have any questions on them, I still have all my course materials and can help you if you PM or e-mail me through CAF here.

God’s grace alone saves. God gives us grace through the sacraments.

We can choose to reject that grace, to throw it all away, by committing a mortal sin. But for as long as we live, God stands ready to restore us to grace through the sacraments.
He doesn’t give grace through sacraments, He gives grace through faith.

Eph 2:8 For **by grace **are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:8 For **by grace **are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Really? Well where does your cited verse say that grace does not come to us through the sacraments?

Seeing as the Sacraments were established by Christ to convey grace as demonstrated by the following scripture study.
“I Find No Sacraments In the Bible” he said.

pssst… Frodo

Still waiting…

So Frodo, let’s say You’ve said the sinner’s prayer, and you’ ve totally fallen away, and before you die you break one of the 10 commandments… i.e. commited adultery, or stolen. You have neither confessed nor repented of this sin, and you die in that state. Would your statement “There are going to be people in heaven who, although they made it into heaven, will not have any eternal rewards because they didn’t live as a Christian should.”
still hold true?

Yes you would absolutely still go to heaven because Christ died for past, present and future sins.

Eph 4:30 (NKJV) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

How do you grieve the Holy Spirit?

1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

If you can lose your salvation, do you KNOW that you have eternal life? Those who believe on Jesus Christ for salvation can rest assured that they have eternal life in HIM. Not in the church, good deeds or any other false God. Only Him. He alone is God and able to save you. Stop trying to take the credit for salvation away from what Jesus Christ did for you.

This is an absurd, clownish parody of what Catholics believe. Had you been listening all this time, you would know that Catholics do not take credit for our own salvation. We give full credit for our salvation to Jesus alone.

Now you’ve been told this plainly — yet again. Any further allegations by you that we trust anyone or anything other than Jesus for salvation will constitute you knowingly misrepresenting Catholic beliefs. Bearing false witness against your neighbors is a sin.

Didn’t you read the one I just posted. It says that grace comes through faith. Don’t you believe God?
Don’t YOU believe God? If so, then why do you deny His teachings?

See, we can play the “don’t you believe God?” game too. We all believe God. You won’t fool anybody here by pretending that disagreement with your man-made traditions equals disbelief in God. We know His word too well.

Yes, we believe God. That is why we are Catholic.

Read it, prayed it again (I think I’ve prayed that at least ten times), nothing nada zip… big shock, back to weak agnosticism for me…

The prayer IS biblical.

Lu 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

What do you think the prayer is about? It about what the bible says will get you saved.
Funny but the last time I checked my Bible when JESUS got asked how do I get to heaven he replied Follow the ten commandments, and give away your money and follow me. Also in the Book of James Paul says We are not saved by faith alone, but faith and works. Also give me a verse in the Bible that says accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you will be saved… If this is true, why did we wait 1500 years for it to get figured out???

You were sealed with the Holy Spirit at the moment of your baptism. You grieve the Holy Spirit by choosing to sin, instead of living in the light of Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:9 - 10
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Nothing we can do can lose the promise of eternal life. That promise is still there, if we turn from sin, repent and ask for forgiveness with all of our heart.

That is simply not a logical conclusion. Christ died for the sins of all, but not everyone is going to Heaven. Therefore, we cannot say that someone is going to Heaven simply because Christ died for their sins - past, present and future. You continually deny this - despite having it pointed out to you repeatedly.

Sure, why not? What you dont “know” (you can have confident faith) is whether you will lose that eternal life by choosing self over God at a later point in time. Again - this has been pointed out to you, but you ignore it. As I have told you repeatedly, your logical fallacies and misreading of Scripture come from your erroneous faith in OSAS. Notice that it is at the root of the question above.

“Rest assured”? Im not sure what that means, but I do know that a faith without works is dead and doesnt save you. At least that is what Scripture tells us (cf James 2) “If a man says he has faith but has not works, will that faith save him?” Faith, if it does not have works, is dead" This has also been pointed out repeatedly - but you ignore it without addressing it. I post it for those who might be confused by your spin on Scripture.
The rest of your rantings dont warrant a response.

Evangelicals such as the OP often state that one only need to pray a particular prayer, i.e. DO something, to be assured of salvation, yet they accuse Catholics of relying on what one DOES for salvation, i.e. works righteousness.

They don’t seem to realize that it is faith expressed in good works, not faith or good works.

According to St. Paul, what really matters is faith working through love (Gal 5:6), i.e. faith expressed in obedience (Romans 1:5, Romans 16:26).

Yes, OSAS to the core. It is taught in there that future sins are forgiven; but that wouldn’t make sense, frodo, since how can Jesus forgive something not yet committed? Or, put another way, why would you ask forgiveness for sins you knowingly will commit? So, if you know you will sin, and do nothing to prevent sin, are you forgiven? Or does that make sin and salvation senseless? See, it does not add up at all. You know you will sin, and then ask for forgiveness now for sins you know you’ll commit? Where is repentance there? How can Jesus then forgive a person who does not repent of his sins?
Stop trying to take the credit for salvation away from what Jesus Christ did for you.
Ah, but Jesus also commanded us to do good; where is it said that we should take credit for these things then? Paul said it simply: God has prepared those good works for us to live in them. So the credit still goes back to God; we are commanded to live in them, because if we do not live in them, then our faith is dead. See how James is tied up to Paul’s thought.

Didn’t you read the one I just posted. It says that grace comes through faith. Don’t you believe God?
Of course I read what you posted…

And of course I believe God…I just don’t agree with your very fallible interpretation of the Word of God.

I’ve already showed you several times where you contradict the Bible in what you preach, so I guess I can turn your own question back on you to say. “Don’t you believe God?”

So far, I can’t tell and yours seems like “another gospel”…🤷

What we are saying is that God’s grace saves, those who place their FAITH in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The good works are the natural result of true faith, but they don’t save as the bible clearly states.

Good works do not save:

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Now look at the very next verse. It explains that we are supposed to do good works because we are saved, not so that we can be saved. We are saved “For good works” it means that we do good works not so that we can be saved, but because we already are saved.

Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We are not saved by works of righeousness.

Tit 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

When we accept Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit cleanses us and renews our spirit. That cleansing is a type of baptism. It is NOT water baptism. It is spiritual.

Ro 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

You apparently still misunderstand the Catholic position, because you keep telling us things we already know and believe. Sorta. 😉 The Church does not teach that we are saved by our own “works of righteousness” and yet you seem to keep erroneously insisting that the Church does teach this. Please show me where in the Catechism of the Catholic Church that it tells us we are saved by our own works. I pointed out to you on the first thread you did with the same copy/paste job in the OP that Catholics believe we are saved by GRACE. God’s grace gives us faith, and we demonstrate that faith with works, which are not OUR works of righteousness, but God working in and through us. We’re not hoping to make it to Heaven by pulling our own bootstraps and to keep insisting that we believe that is bearing false witness.
Tit 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Water baptism IS a spiritual baptism! The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at His baptism (Matthew 3:16) We are born again in baptism (born of water and of the Spirit) according to Jesus Christ in John 3:5. When we are baptized, our sins are washed away, according to Acts 22:16. Don’t you believe God?
Ro 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Nope, not deeds of the law, but works of mercy and grace which God has ordained for us. Review Matthew 25 and then tell me if Jesus says anything about “just place your trust in me for your salvation” in that chapter.
