How to Handle Neighbors Dogs

Yeah, but as I said, once your air becomes the predominant air, it does become my business. City councillors have had discussions about this and so far, your side is winning. But I suspect ours will win in the end.
“My air” and “predominant air”? Do city councils seriously have that much time on their hands? What a waste of taxpayer cash.

I doubt that very seriously. And I really doubt that will happen in the US. Good luck with that wherever it is you’re at.

People really need to stop policing the world. This is how societies become insular and why people don’t want to associate with anyone these days. It’s insane.

I hate to draw that conclusion. They’ve only been in the home a couple months. Maybe they haven’t gotten around to backyard fencing issues? My husband says he hasn’t seen the dogs outside without their owner since this happened, and I don’t think I have either.
The way you described the dogs acting and there being three of them is what I base my conclusion on. People with out of control dogs (and these are out of control) don’t care. Having one out of control dog ought to tell the owner he shouldn’t get another dog. Since they went on and got two more we can safely conclude they don’t care.

Make no mistake these dogs are out of control and the people, even if they wanted to (and they don’t), don’t have the skills or patience to reform the dog. Trying to contain the dogs doesn’t make them under control. I’ve experienced that firsthand. I often walk by an aggressive dog. He is ‘contained’ by an invisible fence. One day the fence didn’t stop him and he charged me. He’ll do it again if given the opportunity. The owner was apologetic but I gave her a piece of my mind. The dog is still there, so its not like the owner cares enough to solve the problem.
I think we are going to install the rollers, which are pretty inexpensive and plan to call the police if the dog gets out again. That’s more or less what the police recommended.
The police always recommend to call them. It justifies their existence. But calling them doesn’t mean anything happens after you do to help you. And even under the best circumstances the police are minutes away. I imagine with a dog call they could be hours away.

Are they also going to ban fireplaces? You don’t need those in 2018 either.

See how ridiculous that is?

Can we stop bashing cops and assuming every one of them is corrupt?

I can enjoy the smell of the odd cigar, and it is actually rather pleasant. But use the example of a cigarette. I’ve had neighbours who got up every day and smoked a cigarette on their back yard patio. I had to wake up everyday to that smell. For some reason, it literally wakes me up. Horrible, because I don’t like A/C and enjoy sleeping with the window open a crack.

You’re asking me to believe that a log on a stone kept burning for 18 hours, unattended? Again, I claim BS. And what you’re saying now is, you don’t have a kid with asthma or a grandpa with whatever-you-call-it, and you have no reason to complain about fire pits other than you just don’t like them. You’re literally inventing illnesses you don’t have in order to justify the insane idea that ownership of a fire pit is a direct indicator of a person’s level of responsibility and consideration for their neighbors.

Burning leaves is a little bit different because it creates a lot more smoke than a fire pit. Usually, municipalities that allow it only allow it on certain days or weekends, so residents can prepare.

Unless you’re paying their mortgage, that’s not your issue. Close your window. It’s called being a neighbor.

We should ban indoor fireplaces too. Just normal gas or electric or solar powered furnaces. If you want to see flames, wait til Christmas and they put one on television for about two weeks.

My cigars are all flavored and aromatic 😋 I also have a Pipe too 🧐
Come to my house and sit in my backyard and smoke that pipe as much as you want. I love pipe smoke and I love the smell of a Black and Mild. 🙂

You, me, and the dog and the husband will shoot the breeze with drinks around the fire pit.

You might just ask them to let you know if they’re going to use it so you can close your window. That’s pretty reasonable. I don’t think that most people would have a problem doing this for the person who lived in the next townhouse over. That’s a pretty far cry from expecting everyone one else in the world to not have a firepit because someone in the neighborhood might be sensitive to smoke but still want to keep their window open.

I don’t think all cops are corrupt. But what I said isn’t bashing. It is stating truth. Police are enforcers of the state’s laws. They aren’t there to protect and serve. Writing that on the side of a cruiser doesn’t make it true. It makes it PR.

Sorry, but I don’t expect someone to come over and ask for permission to smoke a cigarette in their own backyard, townhouse or not. And I surely don’t want them to wake me up to do it.

If I know they go out at X time, and it bugs me, I can get up and shut my window. It’s my problem, not theirs.

Assuming the motive of another person is pretty terrible. That’s like saying all doctors are there for the money and all military members are there because they like killing people.

We know they’re there to serve the state. But they don’t deliberately delay based on the nature of the call. That’s cop bashing.

You are incorrect. All of those things are necessary. It’s called socialization.

If the dog jumps at a fence while wearing a lead/chain/tether/rope the dog can hang itself, a long and very painful way to die of strangulation.

So I have to wake up and close my window when you decide it’s time to pollute the air. Like I said, people with fires going on in their backyard can be quite inconsiderate. They should just explore the great indoors.
