How to Handle Neighbors Dogs

I don’t think anything about that post is “bashing police” and definitely not calling them all “corrupt”. He’s right. I never heard of the police doing anything directly about a dog until it has actually bitten someone. The judge is the one that orders the surrender of a dog because of multiple dog at large citations.
We had two problem neighbors recently. One was crazy and a drug user. The other was a drug user and a thief. I called the police plenty. There wasn’t much they can or will do. We even had an arson and they did nothing. I had my opinions before this but they were substantiated from these experiences.

That’s why it’s sometimes best to not even speak to the neighbour even once. Then one day, you can hire Vinnie to bring the dog far away into the forest, and your neighbour will never know you ever had a problem with the dog.

If a dog is on a viscous quest to eat children, a lead is not going to stop him. He will chew through or break it.

Why escalate the situation and make it all about the other person? Just put up the fence. Yes, the dogs are their problem, but it’s my property and my job to protect it. Make them deal with the dogs and just put the fence up.
Respectfully, in this situation, it is about the other person (her neighbors). If a person has large dogs, particularly pit bulls, it is that person’s responsibility to keep them contained and out of other people’s property.

What if she doesn’t have money to put up a fence? Or even if she does, why should she have to be the one expending time and money on a problem caused solely by her neighbors?

No. Why would I, unless it was 2AM or something? I’m not entitled to live in an environment where I don’t have to hear any of the other people who exist in my community. People who are bothered by the fact that other people enjoy different things like music, fire pits, and marshmellows need to save their pennies and get themselves acreage.

Like I said, being social means including people. It doesn’t have to start with pollution. You could try shooting a basketball and getting others to join in. We’re not cavemen anymore. I will remain on my high horse.

Anyway, I suspect in a Canadian city I live differently from Americans whose culture is rather different.

P.S. After hearing all the justifications for being a polluting, inconsiderate neighbour, I will take more care in the future to buy a house only where there are no fire pits.

This website is talking about tethering dogs constantly, even when the owners aren’t at home. My neighbors do not leave their dogs in the yard when they aren’t home. They let them out for short periods of time while they are home. Even the article you posted states that they aren’t talking about tethering the dogs for a short time while the owner is present.

I already said, they don’t “need” to. However, when I lived in a condo, I always let my neighbors know that I was expecting guests. If I had a neighbor that had asthma and it made her feel special to be told when there was going to be a fire pit, I would have no problem making that sacrifice of a post-it note. Most people who have the capability of an indoor fire also have a structural device called a chimney, which pipes smoke up though a hole in their roof, above the window level of nearby houses. If a neighbor complained about my indoor fireplace, I’d just have to resolve that they are a kook and nothing I do will make them happy.

Here’s a quote for you Pup:
“The Washington State Department of Ecology reports that about 10 percent of the wintertime air pollution statewide can be attributed to fine particles from wood smoke coming out of wood burning stoves.”

Lara’d pee herself in our neighborhood! We live across the way from the field where the middle-school marching band practices! And yes, we can still hear the birds.

And I’m seriously sensitive to pine smoke even though I actually love the smell of it, so I feel pretty sure I’d notice it.
Just think of it as being at Mass during the Holy Thursday Mass when incense is used in large amounts as you hum the Sanctus. LOL!

Maybe the dogs aren’t on a vicious quest. Maybe it’s a crime of opportunity. I’ve seen many dogs successfully tethered in my life.

IF you’re going to start off a separate thread, shouldn’t you put this in a separate thread?
