How to prepare for Halloween?

Former satanists have stated that Halloween, is one of the main days they celebrate. The important thing is to not dress up or glorify anything which seems demonic, gory or violent.

One way to do this is to dress up as “Saints”, and praying the Rosary with confidence and devotion, will be more than enough to keep demons away.

You could also try to have a priest bless a scapular medal, and always wear it.

God Bless

@(name removed by moderator), very good thoughts they are! Thanks for sharing. 🎃

Some parishes in the diocese have an “All saints party” for the children where they dress up as saints and tell the others about who they represent. A meal is served and games played. Mass is celebrated.

Schools in Sweden have a weeks holiday around October/November and there are parishes like this one organising activities for children. There are some pictures from the All saints party.

The big box with dress up clothes in my basement has a selection of pieces that can be mixed to native American saint Kateri, a Franciscan friar, angel, saint Lucy. (I am not sure Ronja the Robbers Daughter or Pippi Longstocking would be invited.). We’ll see if I volunteer in the sacristy and join the party. 😃

The local nursing home puts out an invitation for the assisted living wing asking kids come through there as it’s warm and the residents decorate and enjoy seeing the kids.

Some see it as safer or as a good option when neighbor’s aren’t passing out candy.
I live in a semi rural area and unless you are in a specific subdivision houses are far apart and no sidewalks. Even most subdivisions here don’t have sidewalks. Trunk or treat is a nice way for everyone to get involved in the fun where trick or treating isn’t practical, so it fills that void too!

We have a nearby neighborhood that has homes close together and has become Halloween central. Kids from all around come to trick or treat there. People go all out decorating their yards and homes to the Nth degree. It’s amazing. Families get together so maybe every third or fourth house is super decorated and handing out candy, while the others are dark.

It’s become so popular that the town helps subsidize the cost of candy for the neighborhood, the police close off the roads and join in the fun. A local church or two sells hotdogs. It’s the best of all worlds!

I love the creativity and fellowship people bring to holidays!
