I’m inexplicably mildly allergic to cinnamon, which is horrible because cinnamon is delicious.

I’m sorry to hear that, Adam. ☹️

I’ll leave the cinnamon out for you, when I do the baking for you. 😉

That’s really too bad. Ugh. Cinnamon is such a common spice too, especially at this time of the year.

The good thing is, there are some fairly good cinnamon substitutes.

Thanks, I hadn’t figured out that feature yet either. God Bless.

You are welcome! 😃

Prayers said for those not feeling well on this thread…

I hope that you feel better soon! ❤️

I’ve been making a shopping list for replenishing some of my baking spices so that I’ll have them ready in order to do some baking…

I need a fresh stock of spices, like cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg–spices like that.

It’s pumpkin season now and I like to be able to make pumpkin quick bread. 🙂
Those are yummy fall and winter spices!

Hello My Dear,

It’s nice to see you here! 🙂

Yes, they do remind me of this time of the year, and I do like baking at this time of the year, especially as it starts to cool off up here.

I figured that I would get the spices and stock up on some new ones so that I could make things like pumpkin bread and banana bread if we want them, or muffins of the same.

The spices that I have are starting to lose their scent so I know that they are not as fresh anymore.

Those quick breads are the kinds of things that we like for a snack or that my husband can put in his lunch to take to work. 🙂

I love pumpkin muffins and quick breads and pies this time of year. 😀

I live in a subtropical climate, the weather here is insane, to say the least. Right now we’re expecting a tropical storm, so we’ll see what happens after that. I do want to go up to the mountains in a few weeks to see the leaves change, they’re not too far away about 160 km.
Going to see the autumn leaves in a few weeks? 😱

Our mountains’ leaves reached their color peak (no pun intended) a week or two ago. Here in the city (lower elevations, though still a mile or more above sea level), the leaves are gorgeous right now.

But we’re expecting our first snow on Monday, so bye-bye pretty leaves, hello snowflakes. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

I have seen snow fairly early on, but never here in South Carolina.

I live, pretty much right where the Piedmont meets the Sandhills, I don’t live too far from Augusta, Georgia. I love it here, I live in the woods. Not to mention, during a good chunk of the year, since I live near Peach Orchards, I can get peaches without paying for them, the owners of the orchard said, that it’s okay if we pick them as long as we don’t sell them.

Nice to share the bounty…my neighbour brings fresh milk,I give back Asparagus

I like to pick dewberries and blackberries during their Seasons, which are generally around May and June, a few months after that I like to pick various varieties of muscadine grapes, which grow wildly here. Sometimes, I like to pick Chickasaw plums which also grow wildly here, be careful with those though, because if you don’t get them at the right time you will regret eating them. I generally share the berries and grapes with my family, because not Everyone likes Chickasaw plums. Sometimes I make pancakes with the berries.

Chickasaw, dewberries 🙂 I’ve got some googling to do.It sounds a great climate to grow things.I make Kentucky fried rabbit from the ones my good neighbour catches and pick mushrooms.

Have to be careful those mushrooms, unless you’re an expert at identifying them, I don’t think it’s wise to pick them. At least not for me, I’d rather not die from being poisoned. I have actually got bitten by a spider not too long ago, and it’s made my stomach a bit upset and my arm is hurting, but it’s probably not going to kill me. I would imagine that eating poisonous mushrooms would be worse.

Hope you got that seen to?You could land with an ulcer or something.

Tonight I am stranded and cannot get home. I had a “moving experience” several weeks ago and now there is stormy water between where I live and where I am now and yet another gale has prevented my getting home. Please pray I can cross tomorrow; my dog will be frantic if it goes another day. Cats are ok as they can get in and out through the window.
The good news is that after failing to find overnight accommodation with almost no money. a kind man contacted our priest and they have paid for the night here, where I had been turned away earlier… . Utter luxury and some time online; where I live now I am “off the grid” so no internet .

No idea when I will be back online… Life is rich but I am poor. Money wise I mean. Rich in all that really matters. Blessings and peace to all

Thanks. Our boatman is a man I trust with my life. Utterly and totally. He had been living and ferrying all his life and knows the currents etc. PLEASE GOD I can get home in the morning but it is not looking good.He will do it if it is safe but not if not like tonight, Last week the whole of Ireland was on Red Alert and massive damage done. Now it ia Orange alert, one stage down. Depends in the direction of the wind and I have seen the ocean flowing sideways in recent storms. Such power.
