Chavez acknowledged after he was diagnosed with cancer that he had been recklessly neglecting his health. He had taken to staying up late and drinking as many as 40 cups of coffee a day. He regularly summoned his Cabinet ministers to the presidential palace late at night.
40 cups of coffee a day? That must have wrecked his stomach. Well, I’m sorry to hear it, anyway.

I am watching this on CNN. I am not surprised, since he was so ill. Praying for his soul and his family. I hope there is a smooth transition of power.

Well, we never wish death on anyone until their time, so may God have mercy on him, and congratulations Venezuela. Whoever you have next should be a major step up.

Amen. I was no fan, but I pray for him and his family. He was very young.

I had ambivalent feelings towards Chavez. On one hand he was a Marxist, who could be rather negative towards the Church at times. On the other he took a firm stand against US imperialism.

Heh, and now they are claiming that the US somehow assassinated him by giving him cancer. :whacky:

I was unaware that Chavez stood tall against our imperial president, Obama. This is news to me. Anyway, Chavez was a murderous thug who will not be missed. Rob

I’ll pray for his family. Looks like all Ahmadinejad’s friends are slipping away one by one. Maybe there won’t be another world war soon after all. I was afraid that since him, Castro, and Ahmadinejad teamed up, it wasn’t looking so good for the Israeli supporters of the West.

IIRC Chavez kept abortion illegal in Venezuala.

For all his crimes, he won’t be facing that one.

As a fellow catholic we should be praying for his soul.

Not mocking.

God have mercy on us all.😦

Mom always said; “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

Me:

Thanks for reading my post.

God bless.

Fellow Catholic? Well sort of. He flouted having a mistress, stood firm with socialism and a host of atheistic leaders, and he worshiped some sort of pagan folk god of his people. He sure made our Pope downright uncomfortable, and he condemned his own bishops, priests and seminarians relentlessly.

Personally, I don’t consider him a “fellow Catholic” – just a terribly evil man for whom I will pray as commanded by my Lord, but I shall shed no tears.

Dear Venezuela,

I have a suggestion for your next leader. Or a place holder while you look for a new leader.

Luis Aparicio … beloved in your country and ours. If you install “Little Louie” as your President … I will back installing Ernie Banks as ours.

ERNIE BANKS

Aparicio is 78 years old and still lives in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

He was also a Red Sox (and Oriole) but never a RED.
