Is this a real apparition? It is possible. However, for myself, I suspend judgement until the local bishop has investigated and decided whether something supernatural has occurred or not. I wouldn’t like to chase after something that hadn’t occurred. My wife and myself are going to Guadalupe next month, which seems a preferable trip.

Yep. I’m rather suspicious of this type of thing.

„Inside the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament where the Holy Eucharist is exposed, church officials said shadows appeared along the bottom of the altar cloth.“

This is so sad, it makes me cry. All these people right there in front of the Lord Himself and the Miracle of miracles, ignoring Him and trying to make out shapes in the folds of the altar cloth.
Lord, what can I do to make it up to You?

Good point.

How do we know they are ignoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament? I would say that since most of those going seem to be Catholic that they are also praising Jesus as they gaze upon the picture of Mary. The image of Mary is in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, on the altar cloth, below Jesus in the Monstrance! Just as Mary was kneeling at the manger and standing at the foot of Jesus’ cross!

Think of how many more people are coming to the adoration chapel than normal!

Mary is doing what she always does – drawing people to Jesus!

What amazes me is that people will come to see apparitions by flocks, but they don’t flock to see the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Makes me very skeptical of their true nature of faith.

More reasons to pray.

Excellent point - another poster made a similar point earlier.

It seems to me that seeing the image of the Blessed Virgin shouldn’t be like looking at on of those illusion pictures - you know the one where you have to stare at the picture for about an hour so you can see an eagle, or a boat. The picture in the article looked to me to be a stain. People want so badly to see a miracle, or a sign, when they have one every single day on the alter.

I do not believe Mary appears on toast, tortillas, frying pans, on the side of buildings, or cloths on the altar (which is, coincidently, right behind the candles).

It seems that virtually whenever this happens, a Latino finds it. Nothing personal against Latinos, but I’d suspect that there is something in their culture, possibly from their pagan religious roots which some how got absorbed into their Catholicism.

I’m tired of this Jesus on a tortilla chip thing.

I do agree that these things often get out of hand, and that many of them are not necessarily miraculous, however…

Isn’t it great that we can see God in everything around us?

Isn’t it great that all these people are going to the adoration chapel with Jesus Truly Present who normally might not go?

We have several wooden doors in our home that have facial images on them, most of which look like Jesus in some form. Do I think it’s miraculous and I should invite people over to set up a shrine? No, but I think it’s neat because every time I see one of them, I think of Jesus and whisper a prayer of thanksgiving that He truly is everywhere!

I think of the praise song “Everywhere I go I see You!”

If you have the opportunity, visit Maranatha Holy Love Shrine outside of Elyria, Ohio. Apparitions, miracles, and messages from heaven have been occurring there over the last 20 years. My family and I have been there 4 times over the last 2 years

Go to www.holylove.org and make up your own mind.😉

According to Spirit Daily, this alleged apparition is not Catholic, and is currently being investigated by the Bishop of Cleveland.

I saw some of the “miraculous” photo’s. I get more than a little leary when I see these kinds of photo’s as evidince of the devine. Also - here is a little message from the site. A so called "Letter to our opponents:

So now we have Mary appearing on altars, frying pans, tortilla’s, the side of building and pictures with squigly lines. Why can’t we just rejoice in the REAL miracle we receive every Sunday - and if your lucky daily.

I hate to be the skeptic here, but this is a result of nothing supernatural, it’s due to the way the light is being refracted by the glass holding the candle. I’ll bet if you blew out the candle, “Mary” would go away.

Not miraculous.

This website has more pictures of the “images”.

The flame of the candle has nothing to do with the apparition though. There are two lightsources that are shining down at an angle (see pictures below). So, if you had an object (like a candle lamp) in between the lightsources and the tablecloth, there would be two shadows. That would explain the two images of Mary and Joseph. The baby Jesus is caused by overlapping shadows.

One of the sweet elderly ladies at my parish in South Florida is an apparition chaser.

Bless her heart, but she brings in photographs of cloud formations and says things like,
“okay, now if you hold the picture in your left hand, and turn your head far to the right, cross your eyes, look down your nose, stand on your head and wiggle your fanny, you can clearly see Padre Pio !!!”

and she is dead serious. Sad.
