People say it—they say it without thought. But I think they’re full of crap.

Somebody cite to me binding teaching from the Church that universalism is heresy. Specifically, I’m speaking about the belief that Jesus will one day in the end save all of mankind.

Prove it. Don’t just say it.

Thanks in advanced.

Read the Gospel and Church teaching/Catechism.

You are the one who is claiming this so the burden of proof is on you to “prove it”.

I don’t have to prove it’s not heresy. I’m merely asking because I can’t find proof that it is. Hoping someone here could help me.

“Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord Lord’ shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the Will of my Father who is in Heaven.” Mt 7:21

Apokatastasis takes verses like that into account.

I’m asking for Church magisterial teaching btw. Not your interpretation of a scripture.

I am the way, the truth, and the light. None shall come to the father except through me - Jesus

Yeah I’m asking at the wrong place.

Nobody here understands what apokastasis is.

In any case, the doctrine was formally condemned in the first of the famous anathemas pronounced at the Council of Constantinople in 543: Ei tis ten teratode apokatastasis presbeuei anathema esto [See, also, Justinian, Liber adversus Originem, anathemas 7 and 9.] The doctrine was thenceforth looked on as heterodox by the Church.”

oops! it looks like I repeated someone else

Universalism aka apocatastasis

cutting to the chase, apocatastasis has been a heresy since

“the doctrine was formally condemned in the first of the famous anathemas pronounced at the Council of Constantinople in 543: Ei tis ten teratode apokatastasis presbeuei anathema esto [See, also, Justinian, Liber adversus Originem, anathemas 7 and 9.] The doctrine was thenceforth looked on as heterodox by the Church”.

Although the soul doesn’t exist, God knows us 🙂

I who chose you Sacred Scripture
My parents had four children including myself but were open for as many as God would allow. My Mom and Dad discussed various names for a fifth child but it was nothing serious. My Dad said one night he had a dream where he was surrounded by mist and from it came a cute seven year old girl. She asked,”Do you know who I am?” My Dad instantly knew and replied, “Yes, you’re Amanda”. She continued, “There are two places for me”. My Dad saw a scene where a happy little African girl was drawing in the …

I understand what it is. And the universalist position on it is wrong.

Universalism is just a reiteration of the gnostic heresies. It’s nothing new.

How? I’m quite sure most Gnostics weren’t universalists.

I don’t think the catechism is infallible if that’s what you’re trying to tell me.

Is there a particular reason why this is bothering you? You’ve been given great sources and appear to be ignoring them 🤨
