Your answer is nothing more than a cop-out. Can’t you give a real response

Perhaps to you it is a cop-out but who are you to judge. It is a personal relationship between me and God. Looks like some people are having a hard time understanding or accepting this.

God bless

you have a happy new year as well

**With all due respect, are you ashamed of your faith? You seem so unwilling to share it. Don’t you know you’re supposed to be a light in a world filled with darkness? **

**1 Peter 3:15 states, “…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” You claim to be a follower of Christ so ****what are you afraid of? **

Mike, you just used a favorite verse. How can I only have hope if I know for sure I’ve been saved? I hope the Rams win the Super Bowl; I hope it snows so I can have a day off school (yes, teachers pray for snow days too!!) and I also hope I’m in the state of grace when I die. Not much I can do for the Rams or the silly weather but I’ll work out my salvation with fear and trembling.

MIKE, HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2. What is a state of grace?

Let’s see, Websters defines “hope” as "To long for with expectation of obtainment!"

Now answer this, If you were to die and were standing before God and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My heaven” what would you say?

I’ll work out my salvation with fear and trembling.

**Notice, it says “work out” not work for! You cannot work for your salvation because you cannot pay the price! The payment required is death! **
Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

**Happy New Year! 👋 **

In Christ Alone,

Mike

I am Protestant. How many of you already “know” that I will not be going to heaven, even though you are not omni-present and you cannot see my heart?
I hope none, but there are bound to be some… I want an honest answer, even though I know I am not going to hell. “How do I know I am not?” do you ask? Well, I do not see the need to explain to you… If you would like me to, please feel free to ask me.
I am not afraid. You are my brothers and sisters in Christ, and you do not want to hurt me, you want the best for me. I have every confidence in you.

God’s Peace~ Lisa

Catholics hope you go to heaven. But how could anybody know with certainty, one way or the other? Catholics believe that eternity begins at birth. Our eternity is either going to be spent with God or, separated from God. (Hell perhaps.)

God bless us,
Eric.

Maybe my faith alone. Maybe my good works. But I don’t know. Nevertheless, I want to be united with God, and I hope that I will be.

Here is another classic example of complaining about Catholics making up things that are not explicit, whole and frequent in Scripture, yet running around with ideas that are none of the above. So, please give us biblical evidence that explicitly, wholly and frequently tells us that God sits us down, asks us the above question, and forces us to come up with the right answer to justify entrance into heaven.

****Shalom,
Catherine

Catherine I wasn’t trying to flatter myself, I was only making an observation! Please don’t be so thin skinned! 🙂

Your response to my question was pretty vague so let me pose another: If you were to die tonight and God asked you why He should let you into His heaven, what would you say?

**In Christ Alone, **

**Mike :blessyou: **

I would say; “God, I don’t deserve to be in heaven, but your will be done”

Bless you too!

If you were to die and were standing before God and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My heaven” WHAT WOULD YOU SAY? You know, something like “I am a really good person.”

Mike, this is a short statement of what I believe:

ACT OF FAITH

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man, died for our sins, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches
, because you have revealed them, Who can neither deceive or be deceived.

**I agree, except for the part I emphasized. The Catholic Church has added man made traditions to the word of God thus nullifying it. **

Happy New Year!

In Christ Alone,

Mike

There you go again Mike! The same old things, just like a cracked record! Do you realize that without the Church you despise so much you would not have the Bible? The Church came before the Bible, Mike, not the other way around! We keep going round and round!

Okay, if sola scriptura were the truth, wouldn’t everyone who studies the Bible interpret it the same way? Wouldn’t they arrive at the same truth? There can only be one true interpretation. The Bible itself warns against private interpretation of Scripture “which can bring destruction to those who interpret if falsely”. Not an exact quotation but you get my drift. See (2 Pet. 1:20-21, 3:15-16).

And yet we see every day more & more new churches sprouting out like toadstools claiming that their interpretation is the only true one. Absolute rot!
The Holy Spirit cannot be the author of this chaos therefore the “sola scriptura” theory is false!

I think Protestants are as fanatical about the Bible as the Muslims about the Qur’an. In one book about Islam I’ve been reading the author speaking for Christianity said that to us Christians the Word had become flesh but to the Muslims it had become a book! Sometimes I wonder if it doesn’t become a book to Protestants as well!

:whacky:

As for the other question, since you are not the one who will judge me, I do not have to give you an answer!😦

You are correct, Catholics hope to go to heaven in the sense that they are unsure but those who place their trust in Christ Alone know they are going!

1 John 5:13 states, " I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life."

**Here we go again, build up a straw man so you can knock it down! I asked a simple question and because you cannot answer it you try to put words in my mouth. I never stated that God asks this question, I simply developed the question to get a response and so far nobody has! **

Maybe you can understand another question:
How do you intend to get to heaven? Are you still trusting in that scapular to get you in?

**The Roman Catholic Church DID NOT give us the bible!!! **

Doesn’t the RCC teach that the bible is the word of God or has something changed recently? If you spent more time reading the bible and less listening to the traditions of men you might learn something!

2 Peter 1: 20 states, " Above all you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture CAME ABOUT by the prophets own interpretation…" Can you see the distinction?

**You’re still dodging the question! I guess you’ll probably have to ask your priest how to answer! **

How about this one: How do you intend to get to heaven?

Not true. If I reject the premise of the question, I AM answering the question. If I were to ask you if you stopped beating your children, you would take issue with the question, and you would be right to do so.

The fact that you pose the question differently shows that you tacitly agree.

The answer the the first rephrased question is I intend to get to Heaven solely by the unmerited grace of God, as is taught by Christ’s Church.
Are you still trusting in that scapular to get you in?
Again here is another question of which I reject the premise. The Church does not teach (and I don’t believe) that a scapular gets you in to Heaven.

The Catholic gospel says that “one gets to heaven by the Grace of God through the death of Jesus on the cross” (so far so good–it sounds right). But the way to receive this grace is NOT by faith and faith alone (a free gift as Ephesians 2:8-9 said), no, the way a person receives the grace to be saved (according to the Catholics) is by “doing certain things” (works), like:

1. Going to mass = grace
2. Saying Catholic prayers (Our Fathers, Hail Marys, rosaries, etc.) = grace
3. Receiving communion = grace
4. Being baptized (infant) = grace
5. Going to confession = grace
6. Helping others = grace
7. Making a novena = grace
8. Making the Stations of the Cross = grace
and on, and on it goes…each thing you do brings a bit of grace…

Then according to the Catholic Church, "If you die in a state of Grace, then you will go to heaven —eventually! You have to stop in Purgatory for an indefinite period of time (millions of years?). Purgatory is a place just like Hell (torment and agony), but the difference is you will get out some day–once “you have paid for your sins.” (yet Christ said on the Cross, just before He died, “It is Finished!” He meant that the price for sin has been paid!)

Yet, there is a problem, in that a Catholic can lose all of their accumulated grace by committing a MORTAL sin! A Mortal sin is a premeditated sin, basically one of the Ten Commandments, like killing someone, committing adultery, stealing, using the Lord’s name in vain, missing Mass on Sunday, etc. Any of these sins done with a willful heart caused all the accumulated grace to disappear. Thus if you then died without any grace, then you went non-stop to Hell.

However, if you could then rush to a Catholic priest and get your sins forgiven, then you collected a little more grace again, and were back on the road to heaven–at least until the next Mortal Sin dumped all your grace again.

Basically the Catholic Gospel is a “works” gospel, that is, “it is what Jesus did on the Cross PLUS my works gets me to heaven.” But the true Gospel of the Bible, is salvation by faith and faith alone in Jesus–no works allowed nor accepted–it is all based only on what Jesus did.
This is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!!

**:nope: **
Once again you dodge the question!!!

In Christ Alone,

Mike

exrc…

You show by your arguments that if you indeed were Roman Catholic at one time, then you must have been poorly catechised - because your view of what the Church teaches is basically a fiction of your own imagination, or one you culled from the writing of Jack Chick or any number of other anti-Catholic “apologists”.

If you are going to argue against the teachings of the Church then please take the time to learn what the teachings of the Church actually are. There are a good number of Catholics on these Forums that are well catechised and do know what the Church teaches, and to them your arguments are nothing but the ranting of a anti-Catholic fundamentalist railing against a church that doesn’t exist, except perhaps in your own imagination.

As to what I would say to Christ if I was to stand before him?

“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.”

exrc…

I also wanted to say that I would not want to make a criticism of you without taking the opportunity to point you in the right direction.

I would recommend you read 2 books to find out what the Church really teaches on these issues:

The Salvation Controversy by Jimmy Akin
and
The Catechism of the Catholic Church

If you want, I will even send them to you - just send me a private message with an address.

If you respond to me on these Forums and I don’t get back to you right away, please forgive me as I am on rather infrequently.
