I should mention that just because God answered several of my prayers doesn’t mean I should expect him to answer yes to all of them or even in a timely manner. The ones he’s answered has proven to *me *that he exists and hears me. But I can’t expect him to bend and cater to my every will no matter how hard I pray. Sometimes what’s best for me is not getting what I ask for. That said, I have no reasons to doubt him given my previous examples.
Psyche

If you had prayed to a jug of milk you would have gotten the same results.

Murder is not defined solely in law books.
‘Murder’, the way it is used today, is in reference to a legal matter. I am not suggesting anything about the ethics of abortion here, just pointing out that like the statement ‘DRUGS ARE BAD’, everyone knows that it is inaccurate. You could choose better ways to say the same thing (‘Killing’ comes to mind…or even ‘fetuscide’).

Wow! I hadn’t even noticed, but I am over a thousand posts here. This thread is also going to be over a thousand soon, so the mods will close it.
I don’t know if I should make another. I have had a rough time keeping up with this, and posters like CalmDownWisWins, well, lets just say that I don’t feel that she is here to discuss, but to shout at me. I don’t want to put anyone on ‘ignore’ (you never know where you will learn something), but she has me tempted.
I will likely start again, as I see that Socrates4Jesus, phooney and Pax are still here (a pleasure to chat with them). I also have met a few new posters who are enjoyable. (psyche, lkddav and NaturalEnquirer)
I will wait for this thread to be closed, then I will start another. I tried to pre-empt the mods by making a new one before the old one closed, but it just made more confusion.
I will leave moderating to the moderators. When this thread closes I will make another (with a predictable name). I will not attend it as closely, though, since I have been invited to check out other threads here, but have had no time, since this thread takes so much. (I feel obligated to answer, since I started it).

Hello A

I’ll have to agree with you on CalmDown, I don’t associate with people like that in person but like you I haven’t put her on the ignore list either. People have real bad days sometime, maybe this was hers. 🙂
I am usually a lurker not a poster but this thread seemed like a good one to post on. I am enjoying it ! I hope you do start another one. I have enjoyed all three.
I’m finding it hard to keep up with two or three people. You have did an amazing job keeping up with all of these people through three threads. 🙂
It was nice meeting you!!!

Why are you an atheist?
May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live. An old Irish toast.

Of course this is not going to happen because your prayer is not going to come true. You can qoute scripture till the cows come home and it still isn’t evidence

Hi 659

What rambling. I think my original assumption of you was correct. You asked what i would take as evidence. I gave you my answer. Your god is quite capable of performing this.

Can you and your god show me the evidence or not. A simple yes or no will do.

This is about three times now you have avoided this question.
The question I ask may or may not have to do with God. I just asked a simple basic question and that is, what is evidence to you?

It is a question that you refuse to answer and I am not answering a question with a question.

In a court of Law, in a history book, etc… what is evidence and what is the principles of evidence and on how do you achieve it?

This is necessary for myself and the rest of the board to understand if we are dealing with an intellegent form of life or someone just sprouting jibberish.

You are the one asking for evidence and before anyone answers any more of your silly questions that you refute no matter what evidence is given we need to know what your definition of evidence is?

How would you if sitting on a jury use evidence and what evidence to convict or set free a man or woman?

My definition so far of Atheism after speaking with you on the board is to admit nothing and deny everything.

It just came up, I am content to let it lie. I think it enslaves women and is immoral. You think that it is a life of it’s own and she should be morally bound to nurture it.
Let’s let it lie, unless you can acknowledge the rights of a woman to do whatever she wants with her own body, you will think it is immoral.
You keep saying her body. But the fact is, as a Women, a Women has a responsibility when it come to sex. Its nolonger her body anymore once a new life begins to grow inside her. Once you have a living being growing in side you, you become responsible for that life. Its very simple. There is no slavery involved. To take that life away knowingly, is the same as taking away your right to exist. If her mother had that attitude, she would simply be dead, let alone worring about human rights. The truth of the matter is; she has a different value system. She does not value the life that is in her, above her own.

We cannot give people the right to destroy human life because such an act is Immoral.

Lets say he has his member in her mouth, and she changes her mind. If she says stop, and he refuses, I think she has every right to bite off the offending obstruction and flush it.
Killing may occur, but it was a defensive kill.
A women is not forced to have sex; a women knows fully well that when you have sex, you could get pregnant. If you don’t want a child, then do not have sex. To compare your analogy with a human unborn life, is horrible.

The fetus is ‘part’ of the woman in the sense that if she does not choose to support it, it dies.
The fetus is dependent on a womens Moral and Responsible Choices to exist. If a women chooses to destroy human life, this is murder.

Hi 659

So you smell the same scents as i do, and everyone else? You just throw in a dose of jesus?
Yes but I see Christ in them and know that they are there for my sake to help me become a better Christian.

You think they are there as hindrance.

For you would see that a woman has the right to kill a seperate human life within her due to conveince, The baby having medical or mental challenges in the womb as having no worth, The baby that feels pain and comfort the same as you and I being burnt by a saline solution, being pulled apart limb from limb by a vaccum, the baby in the birth canal having a scapel placed just under the skull and sucking out all brain matter as being ok for the sake of conveince.

You see if we are not here to help others and others help us then what is life about?

This is apparent on your attitude towards abortion, embryotic cell research, euthanasia, etc.

You see I believe in a society of life and everyone having importance and has an inaliable right to life. Everyone has importance even a baby in the womb.

Since Roe vs Wade 50,000,000 human lives have been killed.

Now Embryotic cell research to make human life and harvest a baby, an innocent life, so another shall have a better life.

To clone Human Life --sounds like Hitler and designing the perfect blue eyed and blond hair German.

I lead a life that I can do nothing if it was not for God and that all the Glory of my successes and failures are His and not mine. I have surrendered my life to Jesus and since then have had a peace, self assuredness, and love for another person than I ever have known in my life

I smell that all Human life no matter how small, no matter at what stage in life, no matter where there are situated physically, mentaly, and financially have a right to that life.

What you smell is nothing, pride, self boasting, and a need to live a life as any other animal where what you accomplish is all that matters. selfishness

That is the difference in smell as you smell fear–the fear of death

I smell life-- life that is eternal.

If you recall, I stated that I am quite fully capable of learning and believing at the same time. Thus proving that believing does not inhibit learning.
Yes but Atheism does inhibit learning. Can you name a Atheistic society anytime in history which has accomplished anything positive for mankind?.

Can you name an Atheist that has given mankind anything that which is positive?

A society that promotes Atheism is a society that needs real quick to make themselves God or be doomed for complete failure.

An Atheisitic Society if there was ever one would be chaos.

Russia tried it and it did not work.

The perfect Atheist society today is North Korea maybe all athesists should move there and live among their type of learning curb

Does a tumor sucked it’s thumb?
No.

The tumor comparison is a false and disgusting misrepresentation of a human fetus. A sperm, untampered with, has no potentiality apart from an embryo. An embryo is where my life began. It is as much apart of my being as the brain that i use to think. Destroy that fetus, and you destroy me. Even if you reduce a human being to a mere organisms, it does not detract from the fact that one is taking away a human life, despite a fetus’s capacity to think. Human beings have no right to determine what is a human and what isn’t. Its a human life. If you don’t respect it, you don’t respect yourself.

Finally, a question.
I don’t like the terms ‘good’ or ‘bad’, I prefer to use ‘better’ or ‘worse’.
I consider a suggestion better if it lines up with my goals. What is the point?
I agree that “better” and “worse” are better descriptions than “good” or “bad”. However, I’d just like to know, what standard you go by to determine your “goals”, which you say determine whether something is “better” or “worse”? And do the goals of others not count, or do you make exceptions in some cases when they interfere with yours?

So your answer is to belittle them???
I’m not belittling them. I’m describing what I see OF them.

If that description (of mine) is considered “negative”, then we have something to talk about, don’t we?

They are perfectly free to counter any perceptions I may have of them, and they are also quite welcomed, by me, to call me any name they’d like! 🙂

Oh, by the way, I’m not belittling THEM, I’m “giving negative value” to their observed behavior, and telling them about that valuation.

I have no idea who these people are, and certainly can’t judge them as people, other than their self-admitted attraction to the evil of atheism, which is a valuation of that evil behavior, not a valuation of the person possessing it.

So then it WAS the same god who placed the cancer there in the first place.
Why do you think he changed his plan (to kill your friend with cancer)?
God allows cancer to happen for whatever reason He does that. That you consider cancer a “bad thing” is because of your limited view of history. Since you don’t have a view of history whereby all of history is to teach humanity the consequences of sin, by having them (mankind) “live it”, and the “big lesson” WILL work out for the best and for the most good in the end, you’re “It’s all about ME and my comfort NOW!” view of history sees any possible threat to your “comfort” as “evil” and, since belief in a “God”, or even (probably) a “god”, is simply materialistically RIDICULOUS and unthinkable, that “evil” must be assigned to “the accidents of the BIG MACHINE”, which eliminates the need to draw any “meaning” from the occurence of “evil” other than “I’m glad it didn’t happen to me!”, and “Those who believe in THAT nasty accident having a ‘meaning’ are certainly mad!”

That was a rather long sentence, wasn’t it!? 🙂

Murder is a legal term. Doctors who conduct these procedures are not murderers.
Change the law, or use different language. Calling them murderers is not only dishonest (making you sound quite unreasonable), it is also incorrect.
Since this definition of “murder” is not used in a “legal context”, but rather a “moral context”, the definition of the word, meaning,“Intentional killing of the innocent” is quite appropriate.

You “discomfort” with the use of the term is because you refuse to accept that the “moral context” is a valid one.

You DEMAND, as all slavemasters, that all people follow YOUR rules, instead of simply agreeing about the reasonableness of your “opponent’s” (aka uppity should-be slave’s) logic considering the axioms and context in which they stated their opinion.

So then it WAS the same god who placed the cancer there in the first place.
Why do you think he changed his plan (to kill your friend with cancer)?
He didn’t place it there, he allowed it. Big difference. There could be numerous reasons why he allowed it. I tend to think it was to help both my friend, and myself believe in him and his power. We both had pretty shaky faith then for different reasons, but now we’re both much stronger because of the event. Plus there could be reasons I may never see or know of… Here we’re going back to the whole thing on why God lets bad things happen to good (or bad) people. I think this has been explained throughly already.
