I am confused about this idea of sex reassignment surgery

You mean they’d ask questions that were controversial about your personal friend? Or your relationship with that friend?
Or is this one of those hypothetical exercises?
Im saying in general, they would ask me, what do you think of say: gay marriage, abortion, etc. They make ask me about transgenderism and what I think

I’d just say that transgender people deserve love and dignity and that they are children of God just like the rest of us.
And that their gender business is between them and God.

cisgendered folk
But isn’t that the opposite of transgenderism?
Yes. The control were random people from the general population, not trans* people who hadn’t transitioned.

By comparing to cisgendered people, it’s flawed I’m afraid. It ignores the discrimination and trauma trans* people face.
Explain to me what cisgendered means specifically. Are you saying these people didn’t change from man-woman, woman-man?

Cisgendered are those whose gender matches that which they were assigned at birth.

But if that is the case then why is it permitted? Surely the scientific community would condemn such actions just as much as the Catholic Community.
Because the ‘scientific community’ are almost all Humanist liberal ideologues indoctrinated in left-wing, state-sponsored cult institutions and they’re afraid to say anything because their tenure and reputation depend on the good will of PC authoritarian nutjobs.

No matter what I say you will say it’s based on feelings, not facts. We are currently studying the differences in the biology of trans* peoples brains and how that impacts dysphoria; that’s not about feelings. We study how dysphoria impacts people and different therapy methods; for some people transition aids. I’m not sure how that’s based on feelings so much as on psychiatric research.
Look, I agree that the dysphoria is real. What I disagree with is the source and treatment.
I’m intrigued; what do you think is the source? I think it’s likely a problem of the biological brain, perhaps hormones in some cases though not all.

As I believe it’s the biology of the brain a physical transition makes the most sense to me. We cannot alter the brain yet, and to do so I this regard feels invasive on a persons very being.
While I’m open to the possibility that there might be a genetic disposition towards this, and I’m open to science; my hypothesis is that this has a primarily environmental source.

I think there are certain things that family (and today friends) can do when we are young that can greatly screw up a child’s development.

A large number of transgender people have reported situations which not be considered healthy living conditions. For example: one transgender man I’ve heard talk mentioned that his grandmother would often tell him that she wished he was a girl. Others report their parents having better relationships or seem to favor the children of the opposite sex. Others report not having a healthy relationship with their fathers, etc.

I strongly believe the increase in divorce and Borge parents working have potentially played a role in the increase of this, homosexuality, and of mental disorders.

Finally, I also question if the birth control pill may be having a negative impact on our younger generations, perhaps being a reason for not just an increase in transgenderness, but also homosexuality, violence, food allergies, etc

Regardless, while some might have a biological source, I strongly feel that most cases have an environmental source.

God Bless

But these people did not do sex reassignment surgery?
The control was “Random population controls (10∶1) were matched by birth year and birth sex or reassigned (final) sex, respectively.”

So that seems like the control were cisgendered people, who do not face the same difficulties as trans* people who have pursued operations or not.

I really wish somebody would create a category for those of us who don’t give much thought to gender, don’t care that much which one we are, and look forward to becoming “like the angels” so we don’t have to bother about it anymore.

The control was “Random population controls (10∶1) were matched by birth year and birth sex or reassigned (final) sex, respectively.”
From the study:

A person was defined as exposed to sex reassignment surgery if two criteria were met: (i) at least one (name removed by moderator)atient diagnosis of gender identity disorder diagnosis without concomitant psychiatric diagnoses in the Hospital Discharge Register, and (ii) at least one discrepancy between gender variables in the Medical Birth Register (from 1973 and onwards) or the National Censuses from 1960, 1970, 1980, or 1990 and the latest gender designation in the Total Population Register. The first criterion was employed to capture the hospitalization for sex reassignment surgery that serves to secure the diagnosis and provide a time point for sex reassignment surgery; the plastic surgeons namely record the reason for sex reassignment surgery, i.e., transsexualism, but not any co-occurring psychiatric morbidity. The second criterion was used to ensure that the person went through all steps in sex-reassignment and also changed sex legally.

The date of sex reassignment (start of follow-up) was defined as the first occurrence of a gender identity disorder diagnosis, without any other concomitant psychiatric disorder, in the Hospital Discharge Register after the patient changed sex status (any discordance in sex designation across the Censuses, Medical Birth, and Total Population registers). If this information was missing, we used instead the closest date in the Hospital Discharge Register on which the patient was diagnosed with gender identity disorder without concomitant psychiatric disorder prior to change in sex status. The reason for prioritizing the use of a gender identity disorder diagnosis after changed sex status over before was to avoid overestimating person-years at risk of sex-reassigned person.

Using these criteria, a total of 804 patients with gender identity disorder were identified, whereof 324 displayed a shift in the gender variable during the period 1973–2003. The 480 persons that did not shift gender variable comprise persons who either did not apply, or were not approved, for sex reassignment surgery. Moreover, the ICD 9 code 302 is a non specific code for sexual disorders. Hence, this group might also comprise persons that were hospitalized for sexual disorders other than transsexualism. Therefore, they were omitted from further analyses. Of the remaining 324 persons, 288 were identified with the gender identity diagnosis after and 36 before change of sex status. Out of the 288 persons identified after changed sex status, 185 could also be identified before change in sex status. The median time lag between the hospitalization before and after sex change for these 185 persons was 0.96 years (mean 2.2 years, SD 3.3).

As homosexuality and trans* people have existed through history and across culture I doubt it’s environmental. I think we see it more now as our culture is becoming safer.

Remember; homosexuality is literally illegal in places. In the US and Aus the “gay/trans panic” defence exists to excuse the murder of these individuals. We currently see the coming out of older folks who never felt safe before now.

I really wish somebody would create a category for those of us who don’t give much thought to gender, don’t care that much which one we are, and look forward to becoming “like the angels” so we don’t have to bother about it anymore.
I recently some to a surgeon who deals with masectomies and trans* folk, he mentioned “gender apathetic”. I frankly think we worry well too much about what other people do with their bodies!

This doesn’t make any sense. Environmental causes doesn’t necessarily mean literally from the physical environment. It also means from parents / family / society / etc.

500 years ago it was equally as possible as today for parents/family to have preferred one sex over another, potentially screwing up a young child.

Of course in the past, there wasn’t the pill, but that doesn’t mean that the child rearing environment might not be the issue.

NOTE: my comments about the pill was that it might potentially be INCREASING the rate of mental issues, etc. Not necessarily being the sole cause.

In my humble opinion, i believe there is so much fear of their homosexual lifestyle that they try to cover it up by trying to be of another sex. Hence surgery. No one can change whatGod has made!

The problem there is that many of them are not homosexual. For example: Bruce/Caitlin Jenner still likes women.
