…If you can’t find one, perhaps withdrawing your money until you can is the way the market works.
This cannot be right - we are not paying solely for liturgy, are we? We give to the Church in part so that the Church can do works in the community, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor. Remember those?

I wholeheartedly thank you, Maurin, for your original post, which moved me I think more than any other I have read here. I am 43 years old and just back to the Church - when I read “I would love to attend a Traditional Latin Mass.”, something in me just melted.

Because, I think I do, too. More than I even know…

Peace all.

Look, we as individuals do not need a middleman to contribute to “works in the community, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor.”
Nothing says you can’t do it yourself or thru a worthy alternative.
The Precept says contribute to the support of the CHURCH…not to the destruction of the church, and not so the church can spent it on non-church activities, and certainly not to repress Pope-endorsed Masses (TLM).
Your conscience & its catholic formation are your guide in this.

Well, the excuse for not giving an Indult for the TLM in most places is that “no one wants it” or basically, the market won’t support it.

.
and an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Imagine if that is how Christ responded during Holy Week. We could not call ourselves the Father’s adopted children. It’s just a thought.

I am sure that you have every reason in the world to feel the way that you do. But I would ask you to think about the end results of this advice you have given ( and you have, in effect, given advice in your post). I am wondering if the end result would be healing or further division. And who would be hurt most by many people withholding their financial support of the Parish. And would the withholding actually accomplish what you desire most?

Jesus paid the half-shekel Temple tax, both for Himself and for Peter. Jesus stayed silent in front of Herod, in front of Caesar. He took up His Cross. Thankfully Simon the Cyrene helped carry it. And Veronica wiped His Holy Face.

Your conscience and its Catholic formation is your guide in all this.

Respectfully,

maurin

This is exactly correct - and is why my parish asks we give 5% to the Church and 5% directly to those in need or worthy charities. But there ARE certain community charities whose needs are being met by the parish, and these would suffer immensely should the Church find itself short of cash. That, and that only, was my point.

I wish I knew more about TLMs, but at this point I know so very little. TNT, care to teach me? Or direct me to a good TLM in the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington vicinity?.

Yes, indeedy.
