Francesca, my prayers are with you. Our Lady, please intercede for our dear sister.

Amen.

Francesca,
I don’t post here often either but I am praying for you. May God grant you everything that He sees that you need.

Francesca, prayers are what we do on this forum, God expects us to pray and ask for prayers when needed.

St Jude, please help Francesca, Blessed Mother console our sister in Jesus’ name I pray :crossrc:

Peace & all good

I’ll light a candle at Saturday evening mass and pray for yourself plus others on my list.

It can be a test of faith with family and I struggle myself, at times, with my sisters and brothers even at my age!

Always got along with nephews and nieces and that’s something worth keeping.

As for envy, sometimes I wonder if envying happiness is a real sin. I mean to say envying happiness without bearing any actual ill will to anyone currently happy.

Anyhow, philosophical musings aside, I pray that you feel a bit happier soon and enjoy another spring/summer in this short time we have.

Good luck and God bless.

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers and kind words. 🙂

I did actually start a new job on April 5, and it has definitely helped a *lot *. The learning curve is steep – I’m still a pension analyst, but this job is strong on the “analyst” part; also their plans are completely different from the kinds I’ve worked on, and their system and preferred ways of doing things are also totally new to me.

So I’ve had moments of panic and a few of discouragement, but I’m getting there. My coworkers are very nice and the culture is much, much more laid-back than my previous job. (It’s funny; I thought I’d have to buy new, nicer clothes since I was going to work in the City. Turns out the problem is I only own one pair of jeans. :D)

Things have also improved with my family. I think that not being at the very end of my emotional rope helps me to deal. Well, that makes sense!

I have started a 54-day novena (hi Clammyside!) with the intention that I pass my six-month probation and that the ongoing labor negotiations don’t end up with me laid off. It is bringing me a feeling of peace. And I am feeling my faith returning.

I have also started working on some cognitive therapy and had my antidepressants increased, so this is helpful.

Thanks again… I know I shouldn’t feel bad about asking for prayers; I just felt selfish since I hadn’t been posting in this forum much!

It’s true. I have a much easier time dealing with difficult folks to whom I’m not related. I suppose one thing is my family knows all my history and knows which buttons to push – even if they sometimes don’t do it on purpose!

Thank you. It’s supposed to be actually springlike this weekend, for which I’m grateful. I got utterly soaked on my walk from the subway to work one day this week!

Francesca, (One of my all time favorite names btw!) I will pray for the tough times you are
going through. And do ask for prayer whenever you need it!
One way I get through some of my tough times is to pick something to do for someone else. For example, pick up a card for a friend that says how much you appreciate their
friendship or, tell one of your children how happy you are that God gifted you with them,
how much you love them, a co-worker whose smile brightens your day. Do a chore for
a neighbor who isn’t expecting it. Visit a shut-in.
Focusing on someone else seems to help you appreciate that your problems are not
unsolvable.
Of course, the prayer is a given. I used to put on my favorite religious music and that
helped a lot , too.

It’s one of my confirmation names, so I chose it myself! 😉 Thanks!

All very good points. It really does help to get outside of one’s own mental/emotional bubble! It’s a positive thing for everyone concerned.

Even though things are much better, I still have the underlying depression/anxiety and of course change can be stressful even when it’s good change. On the subway home recently I listened to a musical setting of the Divine Mercy chaplet I have on my iPod – it lasts just about exactly the length of my ride – and that was a wonderful thing.

Heavenly Father,
you have given us the model of life
in the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Help us, O Loving Father,
to make our family another Nazareth
where love, peace and joy reign.
May it be deeply contemplative,
intensely eucharistic,
revived with joy.

Help us to stay together in joy
and sorrow in family prayer.
Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our families,
especially in their distressing disguise.
May the eucharistic heart of Jesus
make our hearts humble like his
and help us to carry out our family duties
in a holy way.
May we love one another
as God loves each one of us,
more and more each day,
and forgive each other’s faults
as you forgive our sins.
Help us, O Loving Father,
to take whatever you give
and give whatever you take with a big smile.

Immaculate Heart of Mary,
cause of our joy, pray for us.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

Holy Guardian Angels,
be always with us,
guide and protect us.
Amen

Thank you for the continued prayers. Turns out, from what I have experienced and what my coworkers have told me, that I’ve kind of drawn the short straw in terms of supervisors. Most folks find him a poor communicator and difficult to deal with, and I am trying my best to learn from him…it’s tough. I get discouraged when I get work back with corrections made because I hadn’t been told how to do it correctly to begin with. Alas.

If I were past my probation I’d just shrug, fix it and move on, but I worry that he will have me let go. Til October, I’m probationary and at-will. And the more nervous he makes me the more silly mistakes I’m liable to make!

I am almost done with my 54-day novena, I am mostly calm about the situation, and I’m doing my best. Thanks again for the prayers. I need and appreciate them!
