The Truth IS the most sincere form of love.Out of LOVE we are attempting to prevent a perhaps fatal error on her part.I have engaged you before in various threads and believe me you have NO exclusive claim to Love or Christian Charity.I can use emoticons too but in this instance it seems too peurile and tit-for-tat.

Praying for her as I have indicated I will do during my evening rosary IS an act of LOVE.

HISALONE this thread is NOT about you-quit hijacking it.
If you had truth you would have seen the need of this precious soul. If you had truth you would see your own folly.

I have always loved my religion. I was a devout prayer of St Philomena, St Theresa of the child Jesus, and St. Paul. I was forced into a m,arriage by my controlling father because he was afraid i would commit pre-marital sex…I was getting more serious with my boyfriend. I was only 18 and didnt know my bf that well. he was in the navy and I had only seen him 6 times before we married!! my X husband used my religion and bible to beat me. he would abuse me then say he could becaus eit was God’s will that I submit mysekf to him etc. then he raped me and i got preg w my 2nd son. I divorced him and filed for an annulment. i am still waiting foir my annulment and wanted to desperatly marry the man that picked me up off the floor and saved me but after 2 years am still waiting. so we married on the 15 of this month because i just couldnt take it anymore. i love him like i have never loved another. but now my priest said hes happy we are married ( for stubility of my other 2 sons ) but that he we cant have sex or we cant receiev the eucharist anymore…my husband and i are avid church goers and rosary prayers…talk about a slap to the face. I guess i am just lost and confused and very angry all at the same time.
Sorry to learn of the abuse you endured, Nicole.
*This is certainly not something God wants for any women, nor for children to see in their home. You did well to leave this man. *Perhaps, he will seek out help for his tormented heart.
Please continue to work on your annulment, Nicole. The Church does move slowly, but she has your best interest at heart. The process takes a while, but there are many who seek divorce with little cause, and the Church must uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ. *
To do this, she has to see clearly what has taken place, arrive at the conclusion that a true Catholic marriage could not have taken place in your particular case, because there were serious problems at the time your marriage was entered into.
Your former husband, if he was Catholic, and met another women, who is Catholic, and wants a Catholic marriage, could also apply for an annulment. The Church through this process, would have much on record regarding the abuse of his first wife (you), and things would certainly be looked upon in a different light. Everyone seeking an annulment is not honest, Nicole, so the Church must be very wise, as well as up hold the teachings of Jesus Church in all these situations. Everything that she does is for a very good reason even when we do not understand.
Wait a little longer, Nicole, be patient, and God will bless you and
all will be well.

Perhaps you will gain
clarity of direction
by listening to these former baptist pastors, who have now become Catholic, **before **making a final decision to leave the Church or your spiritual roots, Nicole. *God Bless You and Your Family.

Good afternoon Nicole.

I’d like to respond to your post, which to me is a cry for help from fellow Catholics.

I can understand what you are going through, and I am not just saying that. A little story for you. When I was 15 years old, I converted to the Catholic Church. I was actively involved in the Church in such ministires as Catechism Teacher, Lector, Altar Server, Knight of Columbus; and the list goes on. I’d always help out at church dinners and social gatherings in whatever manner I could. It wasn’t until I left my home for my studies in college, that I truly began to doubt. You know why? The reason was because I had no Catholic influence on my life. It required of me to take a bus in busy Springfield, MA on a Sunday morning, when I wanted to sleep in, to go to Mass. What was easier? Of course staying in bed and not going to Mass was. Then, I seriously examined myself, and wanted to go back to church. Some friends of mine were Mormon, so they invited me to their church. It all felt good, so I converted. After being there for over 2 years, I started to yearn fore something else, for a doctrine that was fuller, filled with the truth, and not masked in lies.

Then this is where I can relate to you. I decided that I wanted to be a Cartholic again. I felt that the truth was in the Catholic Church, and wanted to be accepted again as a follower of Christ in the Church. Well, I set up a meeting with my Priest, and during the course of that meeting, I was truly angry. I was told it would be at least a year before I would be “received back in full communion” with the Catholic Church, under the circumstances that I not attend Mormon services, didn’t entertain their doctine, refrained from accepting the Eucharist, received the sacrament of Pennance regularly and other conditions.

This may well be the hardest experience in my life, most especially my faith life. However, it was the most rewarding. I was able to foster a relationship with God that I never had before, and felt better than ever. When I was finally received back into the Church, and was able to receive the Eucharist, I knew it was well worth the wait, and that I was where I belonged. It made me appreciate God’s Church more fully, and appreciate His sacrifice and his Body and Blood in the Eucharist in a way that truly made sense.

Yes, there is no doubt I still lack in my faith. I have my doubts about where to belong sometimes. But remember, thats why the Catholic Church emphasizes Faith and reason. In this way, we have faith in God and His Church, but can also sort it out through reason, which when done, faith and reason compliment each other to make us understand exactly what Christ teaches and why the Church is in full union with Him.

Take some time. Read the Bible, search the Catechism of the Catholic Church, read good Catholic literature such as Eucharistic Miracles by Joan Carroll Cruz, pray, attend Mass and the Sacrament of Pennace when neccessary, and foster that relationship with God as He desires to show you His love and mercy, which the Church provides.

May God Bless You and watch over you is my solemn prayer.

I think you are trolling, but then I dont trust protestants on a catholic forum and their intentions. Truth is love as stated and truth hopefully leads this postr not to waste any of the precious time God grants us not worshipping Jesus in the catholic church

HISALONE,this thread is NOT repeat NOT about you.It is quite apparant that you have little use for me and I for you.So let’s simply leave it at that and pray for each other ok?
I don’t appreciate having my intentions smeared by you,or being judged by you;that’s Christ’s job remember? Please do not address me again.

The reasons posted here for not leaving the catholic church are perfectly rational. But it has been my experience people most people do not leave the church because they have intellectual issues . I do not think reading apologetics will do you much good until you work through the issues with your first marriage. There may be feelings connected there that have to be confronted. It does not sound that your decision to go Baptist was a result of a long process of discernment. When you pray do you express your feelings honestly to God, including negative feelings --anger, rejection, guilt.? Also not being able to receive the Eucharist is painful. Is there anyone in your diocese who has a special charisma for divorced people? Don’t get discouraged over the annulment process. Once it is complete, if you still want to join a protestant church at least you will not be carrying around unresolved past baggage. I mean it will be more of a a decision of coming home to where you belong instead of running away from a hurtful situation. Not to be preachy but your problems will not all disappear when you join another church. We must all ask ourselves how do we deal with failure and rejection. Going it alone doesn’t work too good. See if you can find a spiritual director or catholic group to support you through this. Pray to St. Ignatius Loyola and the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of discernment. If you feel “tormented” because you cannot receive the Holy Eucharist , isn’t this a sign from God? Being a Christian means going through some trials but trusting that God will see us through. You need a friend at this point of your life.Ask God to send you one.

Why do you have a need to get the last word in?
What control issues you have.

Good advice.👍

yes I a catholic. I was actually a very devout Catholic at one time. My “husband” beat me though and my 2nd son was conceived in marrital rape. now i am divorced and can’t remarry or except thr eucharist because I married the man that saved me from my X husbands abuse. so i am just confused. actually lost i think is a better term. i don’t even know which way is up or down anymore. :imsorry: :imsorry:
I’m sorry to hear you’ve went through this hard situation.

Please don’t blame the Catholic faith for your ex-husband’s extremely bad behavior. He did not accurately represent the faith (assuming he was even a Catholic?) - I would never behave that way toward my wife, and it is because of my faith.

You wanted to leave the Church for the baptist church because of the horrific example of your ex-husband. That is not fair to the faith you love.

Did you try filing for an annulment? The fact you didn’t know your ex very well could be a reason for getting the annulment.

QUOTE=PasionCatechist;4731012]I have to admit that I am uncomfortable with the many sacastic remarks and very condescending tones of dialogue within this forum in response to this thread question.
Personally I probably would continue to be apart of a baptisit chruch with some of the many sacastic remarks from some of the catholics in this forum. (This is only my persoanl view)
May God Bless You as well. I am glad my post was helpful to you. I will pray for you with all love and devotion. :gopray2: My prayer is that God will guide and comfort you on your spiritual journey. Its wonderful to be able to spend time to study the faith, pray and meditate.Hopefully, throuh our initmate walk with the Lord we can gain a deeper and benefical understanding of our chirstian faith within the catholic church.

I am so glad that you may try to attend Catholic mass again.🙂 🙂 I would encourage you to do so. God’s love is so great for us. He will be with you with all love and support as you continue to wait to recive the sacerment of the Eucharist…Until then you can still at least spiritually recieve the Eurchrist.
God knows and sees all things and is aware of your sitiuation. We can take comfort in knowing that in time and with much patience you will get through this time in your life with God’s help and loving support. It may be benefical to use this time to study and meditate on the beautiful teachings of the Christian faith and those of the Catholic Church.
::signofcross: 🙂

I’m sorry, but you didn’t quote anything in your post that I replied to. In your reply to me, what is your point? It doesn’t make any sense as a reply to what I said. Which reminds me. Did you really think that your feable attempt to put words in reply that I would not notice that you didn’t answer any of my questions? Nice! Again, answer me these questions:

1)How do you know that Luther was saved?
2)How can you explain or justify the 33K+ denominations within protestantism?
3)Do you know what Luther’s views were on morality? Are you familiar with some of his outrageous quotes?
4)Do you realize that the bible is a Catholic book, given to the world by the Catholic Church? Luther admitted to as much. Will you?
The fact reamains that both Luther and Wesley, after many years of ministry, discovered what you probably need to discover. But I won’t cast the pearls at your feet again. You’ll have to go back and read those precious verses in the previous post. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

However, there are many interesting questions posted in repsonse to this thread that you should reflect upon as you struggle to remain in the Catholic Church.

It is my belief that there are many wonders of christianity that can be fully experienced within the catholic church as well.

If possible I would recommend that you research in depth and meditate fully on all the beautiful sacerments in order to gain a deeper understanding of catholic church teachings concerning the blessed sacerments. Unfortunatly, many of the beautiful sacerments are not fully excpeted, discussed, or practiced in the baptist church.

Also having bible study is not forbidden within the catholic church. One can freely read the holy scriptures for study and meditation.

As your family grows or ages you can use the vocation of your marriage and the gift of motherhood to teach and train your childern in the way that they should go. The catholic church has much history of teachings about marriage and parenthood as well as passages from holy scriptures to aide you as a wife and parent.

It is wonderful that you took your whole family to a baptist church and enjoyed yourself. However,I think persoanlly you can gain a deeper understanding of your christian faith within the catholic church.I would recommend spending time reflecting on the positive aspects of church tradition. You may discover through faithful study the catholic church provides a true valuble source of christain teaching and instruction.

Visiting a protestant church is not sinful or wrong in my opinion. It is true there can be some faithful loving body of believers in many protestant churchs. However the differences are clear. One church was founded by man and often maintained or sheperated by one man alone(a pastor). The other the catholic church is the universal church started by christ himself Matthew 16:18. The catholic church Historicaly has stood the test of time and heretics.

There is only One Church. Sadly this “One Church” as been divided by man. However we should seek to be unified as One as Christians.

Hence, as christians we are apart of the body of chirst. The Church is not a buliding or denomination of opinion but rather christ’s body living and active on the earth and in heaven. We are called not to be baptist or this or that but we are called to be christians. Followers of Christ Jesus.

I would encourage you to research the the history of the catholic church and its current teachings. Doing so may deeply enrich your faith walk. Even if you exam the book of Acts in scripture you will see a reflection of traditions mentioned in scripture within the catholic church. Spending some time alone in prayer and meditation may also help. God Bless you on your journey.
The only thing that anyone can unify around is the Word of God and the Christ of the Word. There will always be disagreements about interpretation of some aspects of Scripture. But when it comes to the heart of the gospel, there is GREAT UNITY among millions of evangelicals all over the world!

Hisalone is a fallen away Catholic. Be clear and honest about who you are Hisalone. You have a bone to pick because you loath the Catholic Church now. That is typical of your kind. I know. I used to be angry too. I’m back home now praying for peace in all of you.

well, honestly none…i am a divorced and re-married women (before my annulment is through ) and so do not recieve the eucharist.
Nicole, you may have sinned when you divorced, or someone may have sinnded against you. But those are not unpardonable sins! Jesus spoke against legalistic hypocrisy more than against any of the so-called ‘Mortal sins’, and He forgives. If your heart is right toward Him, then you are welcome to partake of communion according to the Bible. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Nicole,
My wife and I were chaste during our preparation for our convalidation. If you have sex with your new husband you just have to wait to receive the Eucharist. Judging by your story, it is obviously that neither you or your husband were open to marriage. This seems like a slam dunk annulment. Be patient and kind to yourself. I know what it is like to be married to a rape victim. It matters not whether it was a spouse, the effects are the same.

I’m praying for you. I know what it is like in a Baptist church since I basically had dual membership growing up. It’s a very shallow life. I love them but they don’t have the depth of spirituality that the Catholic Church provides.

I just want to reach out and hug you. I’m so sorry for your pain.

Peace and Love in Christ.
I responded to an earlier post of yours a moment ago without reading this one. Sorry!

I was brought up Southern Baptist. My problem with the Baptists is there Dogma once saved always said.
If you ask a baptist preacher , how many of you church members are saved, they will answer about half.
The word SAVED for them means living in a state of Grace.

on the debate with salvation security. I asked a preacher if Lucifer can fall from grace, then why can’t we.

Prayer over John 6

This is a nonCatholic religion forum.
A hurting Christian is struggling and pours out her heart here and many can only turn it into a situation were they bash Baptists and claim the superiority of Catholism. To me it says a lot about those that do.
Your post claims that it is a waste of time to worship God in a church outside of Catholic. Im sure happy that God has a different opinion.
