On your first post you stated this:

Get the first marriage annulled, live like brother and sister until then, then get your marriage blessed, and stay Catholic! Not necessarily the easiest route and maybe not the answer you want to hear, but probably the best way to go.

How could you go from being a traditional Catholic who allegedly is tormented not receiving the Eucharist to a religion that generally bashes Catholics?
I have not heard any of those ppl at that sermonm bash catholics…alot of them, were former catholics. and i liked the religion because they also will allow me and my current husband to recieve communion…i told them that it is not the reakl thing becasue they are not a priest and they told me the bible says it is a symbol not the real thing

the pater told me i could receive holy communion once a month…??
What Pastor? The Baptist? Or priest?

You do not receive the Eucharist is the Baptist church. They do not have it. They do not believe in it. They have grape juice. It is not Jesus. Baptists think bread and juice are just a symbol. Catholics have the real Jesus in the Eucharist.

Get the annulment and then receive Jesus in the Catholic church.

I went to a Baptist church on Sunday and had a great time with my husband and kids.

Well, going to church and having a good time with welcoming people is ok as long as YOU feel good.

After all, making YOU feel good is what church is supposed to be about, right?

If you think this, you obviously didn’t learn much in your spiritual formation.
Would you rather be a non-Catholic Christian of emotion or a Catholic Christian of conviction?

yes I a catholic. I was actually a very devout Catholic at one time. My “husband” beat me though and my 2nd son was conceived in marrital rape. now i am divorced and can’t remarry or except thr eucharist because I married the man that saved me from my X husbands abuse. so i am just confused. actually lost i think is a better term. i don’t even know which way is up or down anymore. :imsorry: :imsorry:
Im sorry to hear the pain that you have gone through. Trust in God He will not leave you nor forsake you. He was with you in all your pain and it was not His will that you experience all the abuse. He will lead you out of the place your at and into fullness of life if you follow Him.
God bless and treat yourself well.

Her emotions need to be healed. She has had them trampled upon and doesnt need others doing it again.

I have always loved my religion. I was a devout prayer of St Philomena, St Theresa of the child Jesus, and St. Paul. I was forced into a m,arriage by my controlling father because he was afraid i would commit pre-marital sex…I was getting more serious with my boyfriend. I was only 18 and didnt know my bf that well. he was in the navy and I had only seen him 6 times before we married!! my X husband used my religion and bible to beat me. he would abuse me then say he could becaus eit was God’s will that I submit mysekf to him etc. then he raped me and i got preg w my 2nd son. I divorced him and filed for an annulment. i am still waiting foir my annulment and wanted to desperatly marry the man that picked me up off the floor and saved me but after 2 years am still waiting. so we married on the 15 of this month because i just couldnt take it anymore. i love him like i have never loved another. but now my priest said hes happy we are married ( for stubility of my other 2 sons ) but that he we cant have sex or we cant receiev the eucharist anymore…my husband and i are avid church goers and rosary prayers…talk about a slap to the face. I guess i am just lost and confused and very angry all at the same time.
I will pray for you. I am sorry that you had such a tramatic experience.

I went to a Baptist church on Sunday and had a great time with my husband and kids. They wewre all so welcoming and I had the best time ever! I loved bible study. the singing. and just everything. We are thinking of going there from now on. Is that a sin?? As long as we stilllove God and make Jesus a central figure in our life…I can’t imagine going to churhc on sundays, bible studys once a week, and living to serve others and still going to Hell…any resposes??
thx!
The Baptists are great people. I’m not a Baptist but I was raised in the Baptist Church and think it is a very good place for people to be.

You will certainly have a great foundation in a Baptist Church.

I say go for it. Their Sunday School programs are great for the kids as well. It gives them a life long reference of scripture.

The goal is to go whereever you and your family can best worship God in spirit and in truth. If you are able to find a Christian community where you can do that, thank God for His grace!

👍

QUOTE=PasionCatechist;4731012]I have to admit that I am uncomfortable with the many sacastic remarks and very condescending tones of dialogue within this forum in response to this thread question.
Personally I probably would continue to be apart of a baptisit chruch with some of the many sacastic remarks from some of the catholics in this forum. (This is only my persoanl view)

Thank u sooo much for ur thoughtful response. I was EXACTLY what I was thinking…I was aying tomyself mayne i don’t want to be like thses people they just seem almost “holier then thou” with their responses. and then I read urs. it moved me to tears. I will research more and meditete more. and I just want u to know your response has made me want to try a Catholic mass this weekend again. Thank you so much!
God Bless!
I’m sorry if I made anyone feel uncomfortable, and yes I was sarcastic. I just don’t appreciate it when someone neglects to answer any questions that were asked of them, and instead respond with false accusations of the One True Church of Christ. False accusations such as: Catholics have a hatred for Martin Luther. I don’t believe anyone on this thread has displayed hatred towards Luther. Also that Catholics wish Romans 3 and 4 weren’t in the bible because we have to dance around them to distract whomever away from the beautiful truth of salvation by grace. So again, please forgive me if I offended anyone. That was not my intention.

And yet I wish I would’ve been born a Catholic and properly raised in the Church. As it was, I was a Baptist most of my life and came away without a firm foundation in regards to devotion and truth.

I have read your personal information and of course can’t really know what you’ve experienced. It seems very terrible indeed. You have to think about the consequences of leaving behind a very rich faith with a pretty clear compass on life.

It’s easy for me to say, but I would take the road less travelled and be faithful to the Church. Years down the road I believe you’ll be happy with that decision.

God bless…

I know a ton of Good Baptist folks, I’ve been to a Baptist Service. I always have this thought in my mind though, Worship AS Entertainment, or Entertainment that Leads to Worship. I feel a lot of times when I’ve been to non-Catholic Christian services the focus is yes on God, but more on How I’m feeling, what I’m getting.

When I go to Mass on Sunday, I don’t care for one lick if I’m bored to death, though I never am because I understand the nature and gravity of the Mass, but I’m not there to entertain and feel good, I’m there to worship God. I take every other day of the week to go into bible study, and learn about the Lord. Sunday Mass is not about me, its all about Him.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that typical non-Catholic Christian Pastors are Pastors because they are great orators, and public speakers, like they’ve all graduated from ToastMasters, but very few Catholic Priests became priests because they are great public speakers, sure there are a lot, but most of them became priests not to Preach, but to Love and serve the Lord and serve his Flock. My .02 cents. If you feel like God is calling you to be a Baptist, and not just you’re own desires, you can never go wrong in Following the Lord, especially if you truly Follow God, He’ll lead you right back to the Catholic Church.

I suggest that you speak to a priest about an annulment. The process is very compassionate.I know.I am going through the process myself. Please don’t abondon the Faith given to you by Christ because of worldly trauma.Your present domestic situation can be regularized.I’ll pray for you.

Her emotions need to be healed. She has had them trampled upon and doesnt need others doing it again.
She needs to hear the Truth and not abandon her God given Faith for one invented by men.The Truth IS compassion. She has come here for a reason and we owe it to her to speak the Truth.

Whoa, slow down hoss. No, I do not and am not. I was addressing her post and the previous post of Passion on the sarcastic remarks of certain posters. I was stating the reason I was sarcastic in one of my posts to another poster, not to them. Caphiche. If you read a few posts up, you will see where I said I would be praying for her, etc.

My dear friend in Christ,

If your serious, you can’t possibly know what Jesus Himself teaches, and His Church preaches.

It’s NOT about you enjoying this or that. It’s about what Jesus Christ have taught about salvation.

Jesus only founded ONE Church, the RCC. Mt.16;18-20. And nowhere out side of Catholism can you receive the Actual / Real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, of the very God who created you.

And your willing to risk your soul, the souls of your husband and kids, and give up receiving Jesus Himself in Catholic Holy Communion, because of singing and community:shrug:  😊

Talk to your pastor before you make such a Grevious decession. If you don’t know what we believe and why, make the effort to find out why the Catholic Church is the largest of all Christian denominations. It’s not accendental, it is because God is more present, more active and provides more grace, especially Sacramental Grace to us.

She needs love which is the first commandment.
If you had truth you would know that.
The Truth IS the most sincere form of love.Out of LOVE we are attempting to prevent a perhaps fatal error on her part.I have engaged you before in various threads and believe me you have NO exclusive claim to Love or Christian Charity.I can use emoticons too but in this instance it seems too peurile and tit-for-tat.

Praying for her as I have indicated I will do during my evening rosary IS an act of LOVE.

HISALONE this thread is NOT about you-quit hijacking it.

one of the problems each of us has is our personal experience combined with our education on the subject-for this thread the baptist or catholic churchs.

The OP had a terrible personal experience that combined with the dogma of the church cause her to have to wait, remain faithfull remain chaiste remain true when all are caused by things not under her control.

Next, the dogma she is offerred, you can drink our grape juice and eat our crackers, they are after all symbolic allows her to take part in the service and be a part of a community.

She is also being provided the psychological benefit of being recruited and welcomed into the group-another convert from catholiscism-it makes her special and allows them to provide attention and they believe they are successful and doing Gods work.

All of this in the face of the church telling her that through no fault of her own she must delay maritial relations, not take part in the eucharists, not be a full member of the body of christs so to speak.

After having undergone torture at the hands of her exhusband I am predicting that this woman will join the Baptist church for the above reasons.

However, before everyone goes off the handle, I also predict that after several years she will start to find that the church service leaves her with a feeling of emptiness and she will seek out the church go through with the annulment and rejoin the catholic church.

Until each of us is provided the gift of faith we search, our experience leads us various places and sometimes the places are part of our necessary journey because we have not had the education or understanding necessary to provide for accepting where we are at a particlar time.

For me my experience in the Baptist church was one where the preached the literal interpretation of the bible, I had problems with that, the baptist church spent more time on hell and sin, what you could not or should not do and little time on loving others and doing for the least of mine. Oh they glossed over the teachings of love in the new testament but emphasized the teachings on hell. They explain it as their duty to tell everyone what is going to happen if they do not follow the teachings of christ and the baptist church way of obtaining slvation. I have heard the teachings on hell explained in light of our love for horror movies that scare us, the more we are scared the better. the teachings of hell were the horror movies of the last 1000 years and became a n integral part of protestant services largely because of Martin Luthers on doubt about his salvation.

I found faith in the catholic church not when I was searching for it but when God provided it to me. I was attending with my small children and catholic wife but had no preassure put on me at all, yet faith appeared and believe in the teachings of the church grew with the ability to find intellectual answers in the church to questions I had. For example the church has the greatest factual explanation for the truth of the resurrection one can find.

I find the baptist lean on charismatic pastors to fill their churches while the catholic church relies on dogma and the church, they can be more flexable about dogma because they dont have the responsiblility to christ and to preserving the faith and the church we do, a lot of people are attractd to flexability.

I have about ten more pages but this is too cumbersome and will probably not be read so I will close but any one with a question of a former baptist can pm me…

Dear Nicole,

I am so sorry to hear of the trauma you experienced in your first marriage. If you were forced into your first marriage, then getting an annullment should not be difficult. In the meantime, don’t leave the Church. You can’t get the Eucharist in the Baptist Church.

As others have said, you can receive the Eucharist now if you agree to go to confession then live as brother and sister until the annullment is complete and your marriage is convalidated. If you don’t wish to do that, then you could still go to Mass and not receive Communion. You could make a spiritual Communion instead.
