"I believe Jesus was never a god who became man "

So very true. If only more would believe that, the world would be less delusional and more rational.
Yeah, but what they do believe is that a black rock has consciousness and will speak for them on Judgement Day, that mohammed was the ‘perfect man’ and that is what they emulate so they carry on his jihad of killing or subjecting non-muslims to their god allah.

And on the other hand, the atheists worship their human gods such as Stalin, Marx, Che, etc. and have killed more people in the name of ‘no religion’ in the 20th century than any other group - even the muslims although the muslims certainly didn’t try!

I’m not quite sure i understand this site.
Is this suppose to be an objective forum where people discuss each other’s beliefs or is it a place for other Christians to support each other and flame people with different views?
Maybe I’m in the wrong place (or most defitnally I am in the wrong place) but if anyone could point me to a non-bias site to discuss religion i would be greatful.

You will never find an unbiased site. Everyone is biased in some respect all you can do is ignore the flagrantly obvious stuff and discuss with people you find who are interested in good discussion rather than rhetoric.

Hi

I agree with you.

If there were no different opinion; no discussion could ever generate; one should do it in a meanignful manner. You know to err is human; and we humans are sometimes more erring, have a little patience and engage in a discussion, the way you like it. May be one sets a model discussion that everyone follows later.

I love Jesus and Muhammad

Thanks

If this is the kind of discussion that goes on at catholic.com then I think I’ll have to go elsewhere. This conversation with this moron is not beneficial to any of us…except maybe to teach us charity and humility, etc. But I gotta say…I’m getting to the end of my rope being charitable to these muslims…while they blow us up. He is blasphemer and a heathen…and a heretic. I re-iterate…I miss the Inquisition…I would love to burn that guy at the stake.

What is this weird concept of Omnipotent God who is impotent in practical life; cannot marry a woman and cannot have children?

This makes Jesus only a defective god and a defective man; in no case a perfect God or a perfect man, in my opinion.

I love Jesus so I will defend him against these Pauline odd concepts.
The Old testament mssianic prophecies say that Messiah’s line will be destroyed from the earth.

And why do you hate St. Paul so much.

Also, how do you deal with John 8:58 where Jesus says
“Before Abraham was, I AM.”

You keep talking about "Pauline corruptions, but never give any evidence of this…

I love Jesus, so I will defend the precepts of St. Paul, His holy Apostle. Jesus is Lord. Krishna, Buddha, Muhammad are not. Simple as that.

Hi

Nevermind; you are human being entitled for your own different faith if you so like, out of your own free will, no compulsion. I respect you and your faith.

You’ve lost it. That type of sentiment is anti-christ. (another christ) Violence is one of the reasons for the flood described in Genesis. Violence didn’t stop the reformation. It certainly won’t stop the Muslims. All it can do is stop forward momentum but not through church sponcored terror. Or, we’ll be just like them. Thats not the gospel.

Hi

When I discussed about the gender of Jesus in post # 18 here, some eyebrows were raised on it. I now understand that question about this have been asked in these forums and been answered appropriately:

Is Jesus a male?

In RCIA, the minister stated that Jesus Christ was neither male nor female. Jesus’ human body was resurrected and ascended into heaven. This is our believe in the resurrection of our bodies. Surely the body will keep its’ gender?
Thanks, Gary

Was Jesus male before the Incarnation?

Before Jesus’s divine nature was fused with his human nature, was Jesus male?

Before the Incarnation the Son was pure spirit, just as are the Father and the Holy Spirit. As such, he did not have gender at that time. Only when the Son incarnated as the man Christ Jesus did he become male. The Father and the Holy Spirit remain pure spirit and so do not have gender.

Does God have gender?

Hello - I teach a 10th grade Religious Education and something came up about God and Gender that I wasn’t sure how to answer. Many of these questions they are getting from their high school History class.

The question was about God being male or female - how they had been told that it’s wrong to think of God as strictly male - and that the biblical language was biased due to the patriarchal system and the gender biased toward men.

How do I effectively answer that question and give them the full picture of God? How do I adequately address the masculine and even feminine aspect of God?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Does God have a gender?

Hi Guy,

In Himself, God is pure spirit and is neither male nor female. But Jesus, the second Person of the Trinity, besides having a divine nature, also has a human nature and is male. Further, He has taught us to call God, Father. Nowhere does He ever suggest otherwise. In all of the New Testament, he speaks of His Father and teaches His followers to call Him “Abba” which can be translated, “Daddy”. For us to do otherwise is the height of arrogance. The field of history deals with chronological facts. It does not have the competance to deal with matters of divine revelation and faith. Such is the proper subject matter of theology.

Why is God “He”, not “She”?

Why does the Church use male pronouns to refer to God?

Re: Why is God “He”, not “She”?

Throughout Scripture, God revealed himself in masculine terms. Jesus often spoke of his “Father” and even taught his disciples to pray, “Our Father…” (Mt. 6:9-13). Jesus himself was a man, not a woman, and he said of the Holy Spirit, “he will teach you all things” (Jn. 14:26, emphasis added).

Resurrection of the Body

When the creed speaks of “resurrection of the body” does that mean that long dead corpses will be resuscitated and reconstituted whole and living?

Re: Resurrection of the Body

At death, our souls leave our bodies and these mortal bodies return to dust. At the end of time, our bodies will be resurrected, changed into glorious, spiritual bodies, and reunited with our souls. The Catechism explains, “God, in his almighty power, will definitively grant incorruptible life to our bodies by reuniting them with our souls, through the power of Jesus’ Resurrection” (CCC 997).

For more on this see the Catechism section I Believe in the Resurrection of the Body.

Hi

So the question has been brewing in the minds of the people as to why the Catholic-god-Jesus had the male genital parts for no use, in my opinion.

If it were there, why? Whose fault it was as I asked earlier. Fault of the Catholic-god-the-Father or that of the Catholic-god-the-holy-ghost or the Catholic-god-the-Son.

It should be answered, please, with a reference from Bible, in my opinion.

Maybe it was a one sacrifice?
Hebrews 10 and Psalm 40

John 8
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to think that he would see my Day; he saw it and was glad.
57 The Jews then said, ‘You are not fifty yet, and you have seen Abraham!’
**58 Jesus replied: In all truth I tell you, before Abraham ever was, I am. **

John 10
29 The Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no one can steal anything from the Father’s hand.
**30 The Father and I are one. **

John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
14 The Word became flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that he has from the Father as only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 20
25 So the other disciples said to him, ‘We have seen the Lord,’ but he answered, ‘Unless I can see the holes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe.’
26 Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said.
27 Then he spoke to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put it into my side. Do not be unbelieving any more but believe.’
**28 Thomas replied, ‘My Lord and my God!’
29 Jesus said to him: You believe because you can see me. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. **
Somehow, the “non” Christian groups (and I include extremist “Christians” because they accept Paul’s authority over Christ’s) cannot relate to the fact that John was Jesus’ contemporary. The Beloved disciple, entrusted to care for the Mother of God for the rest of her life.
I love Jesus a perfect man though.

So, which is it? Is Jesus perfect or not? Krishna is as artificial as the demon you call “Allah.”

We have been warned about all those coming after Jesus, disguising themselves as angels of light.

2 Corinthians 11:3-15

3
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve 4 by his cunning, your thoughts may be corrupted from a sincere (and pure) commitment to Christ.
4
For if someone comes and preaches another Jesus than the one we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it well enough.
Code:
6 For I think that I am not in any way inferior to these "superapostles."
6
Even if I am untrained in speaking, I am not so in knowledge; in every way we have made this plain to you in all things. 7
7
8 Did I make a mistake when I humbled myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you without charge?
8
I plundered other churches by accepting from them in order to minister to you.
9
And when I was with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.
10
By the truth of Christ in me, this boast of mine shall not be silenced in the regions of Achaia.
11
9 And why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!
12
And what I do I will continue to do, in order to end this pretext of those who seek a pretext for being regarded as we are in the mission of which they boast.
13
10 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, who masquerade as apostles of Christ.
14
And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.
15
So it is not strange that his ministers also masquerade as ministers of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Hi

I take refuge in God about my beloved Jesus mentioned in Quran who was never a god, only a servant of God Allah YHWH.

About the Catholic-god that is supposed to become flesh, I think just a little whole in the body to urinate was enough without a function for regeneration; but that never happened, he had the usual male sexual genetical organs, for nothing. I think it is more of a mistake on the part Catholic-god to start with. Jesus could not create his own body himself, in my opinion.

Paarsurrey, again I beg you to seek to understand Catholic theology in order to talk about it. Please. You do yourself and others a disservice when you refuse to educate yourself.

Understanding Catholic theology doesn’t mean just acknowledging it exists–just as my understanding of Muslim theology cannot mean that I simply acknowledge it exists. How can I actually agree or disagree with something that I actively refuse to understand? If I were seeking to understand Islam, for instance, why would I consult non-Islamic texts or anti-Islamic tracts? Would it not behoove me to consult Muslim writers and primary sources?

Paarsurrey, here’s the deal–Jesus was fully God and fully Man. What does that mean? It means that as fully Man, he could not have been a sexless androgyne. No human being, even if they are born inter-sexed or hermaphrodites, are born sexless–our primary and secondary sexual characteristics take theirdevelopmental cues from genetics. Sexuality is part of what it means to be a human being. If Jesus lacked genitalia, then how could we say that he was fully human in the way that we are all fully human?

That he chose celibacy is a different issue altogether–that has to do with spiritual discipline. As I understand it, Islam places very little value on celibacy as a form of asceticism. That’s fine. But in Christianity, the discipline of celibacy is an outward expression of Virgin Nature, or in other words, purity of soul. Hence the belief, as well, that Our Lady remained a virgin.

You must also see Christ’s celibacy within the context of John’s Apocalypse–Christ’s bride is the Church. That is, the renewed Creation in which we are all called to participate is the Bride of Christ. John’s Apocalypse culminates in the great wedding feast of Christ and the Church. The Church is his wife. His celibacy on earth must therefore be seen as referring to his betrothal to the Church–a betrothal consummated in Eternity.

Again, paarsurrey, I strongly urge you to leave off with empty speculations on Catholic theology and discipline and instead study to understand actual Catholic theology and discipline. Then we may be able to have a fruitful conversation. If you need advice on source materials to consult, anyone here I am sure would be happy to help.

Thank you.

Interesting to note that Shavaite, Vaishnavite Hindus and Pure Land Buddhists believe in a Personal God that saves sinners and can descend to the world and take the form of a human.
