I don't think I can do this

TSB4, I am unfortunately just now reading this thread. I am so sorry that you feel overwhelmed. I can understand.

Your family is in my prayers this morning, especially this morning. You, your husband, and children even the one in your womb were created by God. You are all in my prayers. I especially pray for protection of this unborn child.

You mention that your husband doesn’t want you to have the abortion. Many women have the men in their life tell them to abort, tell him that no way are they having this child. Honey, at least your husband says don’t do it. Maybe take this moment to hug each other and say we can do this. You’ve created another child, God has given you another gift.

Don’t think about food assistance, etc. I do not know a soul that would think your family doesn’t deserve it or should get it. Do not worry.

Put this all in God’s hands. Please turn to him. Take a deep breath, imagine the smile so your other children’s faces when they see new baby brother or sister for the first time.

Prayers for you.

This is something YOU posted about your marriage and family back in November!

"1. We had dated for so long. He was ambitious, kind hearted and an all around great catch. Someone who I could see spending the rest of my life with.
2. I love how he always does whatever he needs to provide for us. (Legal that is)
3. In a heartbeat. I love my family!
4. Be patient, kind, quick to listen and very slow to anger.
5. The joys are all the I love you’s, kisses hugs and watching the kids grow. Knowing I’m leaving behind great productive citizens to carry on our name. The pains? Knowing this sweet bliss won’t last forever. Also, being so OCD about keeping the house clean and never being able to keep it that way. (But that’s okay right?)

Good luck on your project! Hope I helped!"

Please Sweet Jesus, make her come here right now and read her own words. Words that occurred when she wasn’t overwhelmed with life. Words from her heart. Right now, dear Jesus, she feels despair, like no one cares or loves her. Please Lord, give her hope. mother Mary pray for hope for her and her family. May she feel your mantle of love. Lord, please lift her spirit, show her Your love. Amen

TSB4, I’ve been thinking about you since your posts in January and praying for you. I just now am seeing your most recent updates.

It’s understandable that you’re overwhelmed. But please know that the overwhelmed-ness and problems won’t last forever. There are a lot of resources out there for help, which have been suggested in this thread – just pick up the phone and call some of them. Heck, you could even lock yourself in the bathroom for two minutes of quiet time to call if you need to. But please call, and get some help dealing with everything that’s on your plate right now.

Big hugs and prayers for you!

Have you ever read the book about the life of Steve Jobs? He literally changed the world with his sleek designs of the Mac computers, the iPad, and the iPhone. Did you know that Steve was adopted? Yes, his birth mother was unmarried and inconveniently pregnant. She could have easily decided to have an abortion.

I believe that the world would have been a lot different if Steve Jobs’ mother had decided to have an abortion. Can you imagine a world with no iPads or IPhones?

Remember, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!

There were only 2 centers near me, one I called and I go to my first parenting class next Tuesday night at 6 pm. It’s a 6 week program. Other than that, they don’t really offer much more. I haven’t found any mom groups, but, I’m excited to see how this class goes.

That’s great 🙂 one step at a time…how are you feeling about everything today?

There’s an even better one about Beethoven where it asks a question (without naming him)

Question 1: If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis; would you recommend that she have an abortion?

Once people answer, they then reveal the baby was Beethoven.

I feel okay today. Tired, but that’s to be expected. I just got off the phone with the rectory near me that I would belong to. She took all my information regarding having myself and my children baptized and to have my marriage blessed. We wants to me to register with the rectory and pick up a census form. So, hopefully, I can make it to church this Sunday? I feel really intimidated and nervous. I know Catholic Church has allot of rules and I don’t want to mess up. I don’t know any of the traditions. I also don’t know what it means if I sign up and become a member of the rectory.

TSB4,
This is wonderful news! I want you to know that I went through conversion four years ago. I was really nervous! But the deacon and priest were really eager and happy to help, and we brought our whole family into the Church that year. Registering with the parish just means that you are a new member of the parish, and they will get contact information and information about the members of your family, so that you can be included in everything. They can’t include you if they don’t know you are attending, right? I was SO nervous when we went to our first Mass, too. I felt sure it would be so obvious that I didn’t know what we were doing. Thankfully, everyone was so focused on praying and singing, they didn’t seem aware of the fact that a new family was watching and mimicking their postures. And an usher put a book in our hands as we entered, which turned out to contain the parts of the Mass, so we could follow along. It was called a missal, and though we had never used one before, it was pretty easy to follow along. We discovered that we didn’t need to bring bibles to Mass, because the bible readings are done differently in Mass than at protestant services, and the readings are in the missal, too. So don’t worry about fitting in. Rules and traditions are things that you learn over time. I am still learning more about the riches and depth and beauty of the faith, and it is obvious to me that I will never plumb the depths in my lifetime.
As far as rules for living, moral guidelines, the Church is not as strict or imposing as She might initially appear. This is why Pope Francis wants us Catholics to not appear obsessive. It is our privilege to live out the Gospel, and Jesus empowers us to do better just a little bit day by day. It is not about a huge checklist of dos and don’ts. Please do not worry in that regard. The basic ten commandments is good enough to be going on with for now.
When I first began RCIA, I was not able to keep it all straight in my head, but over time, immersion in Catholic culture helped it all fall into place.
You will find lots of support for prospective converts here at CAF!
Oh, one more thing. The rectory is the home of the priest, often attached or near to the parish office. So, being asked to stop by the rectory to register as a member, means come by where the priest and his staff work, and let people meet you and get you started with registering as a new member of the parish. Does that make sense?

Don’t be nervous…just sit at the back and sit, stand kneel when everyone else does. Don’t worry about the responses. I don’t know if it’s the same for every parish, but mine has a mass book which contains the order…it’s a lot of flicking between pages and will take a while to get used to, but don’t worry about it. Don’t go up for the Eucharist, although some priests allow non catholics to be blessed (place your arms across your chest, right hand to left shoulder etc and bow your head)

Just enjoy Gods presence and ask him for help! 👍

Don’t worry, no one will expect you to know all the traditions. I highly doubt anyone will be watching you. Catholic parishes are usually extremely non-threatening places to visit; everyone kind of has their routine, and they stick with it without any real drama or innovation. For better or for worse, visitors tend to pass pretty much unnoticed at many Catholic parishes.

Also, don’t worry about the ramifications of filling out their forms; it won’t commit you to anything. You can’t accidentally become a member of the Catholic Church; it’s a long and deliberate process.

I hope things look up for you really soon. I’ve asked friends to pray for you, as well; we are storming heaven on your behalf and on behalf of your family.

TSB4,

This is wonderful! Remember, even if you may not have much support around you, we are all here for you!

If you have any questions about the Catholic Church, hey this a good place to start! Of course, I am sure your new parish will be there to help also! Maybe there is a mothers group you could get into, if they have one?

You are in our prayers.

❤️❤️❤️
Yayyy! Glad to hear this TSB! Been praying for you and so many other moms that feel this way. I have, too. 🙂

It’s funny, just going to mass and having older people love on my large family is so supportive. You will have the respect you need, here. It’s like the catacombs 😉

When my hub would be gone on night shifts, I’d go to bed and just sit there and be quiet, I would force myself to be quiet, and just acknowledge God right next to me. Acknowledge how big and strong He is, acknowledge how much He loves me, how He is always right there, waiting for me. I needed this so much. The longer, the better, was heaven on earth to do this. You just have to be quiet. That’s all, don’t have to say anything. Because that’s what He wants most of all. He wants us to let Him love us.

In my prayers still…

Are you going to the abortion clinic as well tomorrow?

I know that you read my question before logging off and didn’t answer. That’s ok, I’m still praying and I really hope that you don’t go. As someone who appears to have been using NFP, and understanding that life is sacred enough to not use oral contraceptives, I’m just not grasping why abortion would even enter your mind, unless you are in such despair. And that’s what I am praying for, your despair to go away!

This is all very good.

There’s a momentum to whatever we do. The more positive things we do, the more positive things we will do. Likewise, the more negative things we do, the more negative things we will do. To mix metaphors, once you get a pipeline of positive things in your life (a morning outing with the kids, a mother’s group that meets regularly, a nice fat book you are enjoying, etc.) you’ll be able to stop pedaling so hard and coast a little bit.

One thing I recommend is to start thinking in the following terms, if I only do one thing right now, what should I do? Sometimes the answer is something as simple as–have a good lunch. When one has limited energy, it’s very important to prioritize. With my last pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes and I found that after I ate I had approximately 30-60 mnutes to get anything done before I ran out of steam. And then I’d have another hour or so of down time before I could eat again and have some energy. But I tried hard to get the most out of that 30-60 minutes.

I expect that in the coming weeks, you will be feeling better and better. Not amazing, but better than you have been. Take advantage of it.

See if it’s possible to put the kids into CCD now, or if you’ll have to wait until registration in the fall. I think a Wednesday night with your big kids in class would do you good. In fact, that might make a good date night for you and your husband. If you have a couple spare dollars, you could get a coffee with your husband at some place with an indoor play area and kick back while the little kids go crazy in the play area.

No I’m not going tomorrow. I am just now seeing your question I was busy.

:flowers:
I am so proud of you!
Still praying for you, still hoping for a wonderful outcome!
Please do begin going to Mass, even if you have to just go by yourself on Sunday.
Just go.
Show up at God’s house, and He will most certainly make a home in yours.

I’m a DRE, and I never turn a family away…I don’t care if they show up in April with only a few classes left. try it! Xantiappe has a great idea! 😉
