I have been diagnosed

I just prayed for you. I hope that you can overcome your addiction as soon as possible. Make sure that you go to Confession frequently and receive the Eucharist as often as possible so long as you are not in a state of mortal sin. These two things will give you grace to help you avoid this sin. I would also recommend praying the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 o’clock which is the Hour of Great Mercy in which Jesus revealed to Saint Faustina that He would give to people anything they asked in virtue of His sorrowful passion.
I can’t at 3pm due to work. But I have to find it within me to start reciting the Rosary BEFORE BED as that has helped. I hate masturbation. The release feels good after a long abstinence but I know God is not pleased because I immediately feel guilty and thank God for that. Somehow, someway, I will overcome this. Blessings to you all.

My Catholic shrink is going to continue to assist me after I told him NO to the secular therapist and then when I asked about rejoining SAA, he emphatically said NO, to which I did not mind one bit.

Going at this now, since we have the diagnosis, from a purely spiritual standpoint. Looking at joining a St Joseph’s chaste group as well as well as hooking up with several upstate SC singles groups, Catholics, and get involved there as well. It’s gonna be a long hard road out of hell, but it will be worth it SOMEDAY! Blessings 2 you all!🙂

I have been diagnosed as having a sexual addiction as a compulsive behavior with lack of impulse control.
No offence mate but I think we have all had that.

Sexual addiction as a compulsive behavior with lack of impulse control.

Had it all my life mate but would never be diagnosed as such.

The only way out is prayer, I have found the Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart is the best prayer to say daily without it being as long as the Rosary which would be number one.

Put a picture of Jesus on your desktop so He is the first thing you see when you switch your computer on, this may help you to not go straight to pornographic sites.

Put a Crucifix in your bathroom to stop you doing stuff in the shower.

Don’t lay in bed in the morning (big problem for me in the past with this sin), set your alarm and get up.

Pray!

Don’t look at porn
Don’t crank in the shower
Getting out of bed is no problem

It’s more complicated than that. It’s my life and I should know.👍

Why is it more complicated? Do you just start masturbating when you get the urge, like even.if youre in public?

Youre talking to someone who used to masturbate 8 times a day, sometimes for up to 8 hours of just masturbating. Ive never been diagnosed but its been over a month since Ive done it. It takes tremendous will power and mental strength. Tire yourself out completely everyday with exercise. Seems to be working for me.

I was addicted for 33 years.

Don’t place too much emphasis on some official diagnosis. That’s just a label. Of course you are officially “Diagnosed” - a doctor needs an official diagnosis in order to bill insurance.

Frequent the sacraments. Daily if you can. Confess often, weekly or twice a week. Surround yourself with things of God. Saturate your life with things of God. All the other suggestions are good, but the only real cure is God. You are just counting your days to your next failure without God.

I have been free for going on five years.
