i always wanted to know what keeps an atheist from being an agnostic at least. i can’t understand how you could totally deny the existence of God.
It doesn’t matter whether I call myself an atheist or an agnostic. I am simply speaking of my life as I experience it.i always wanted to know what keeps an atheist from being an agnostic at least. i can’t understand how you could totally deny the existence of God.
I think he was just talking about the ones on YouTube…not in general…just look at “TheAmazingAtheist”'s videos.Atheists are not mean-spirited or arrogant any more than any others are. Stop calling names, it should be beneath you.
The words you have spoken are words of intolerance. Maybe you should consider how your faith can protect you from this fallacy.
That guy is angry. Never listen to angry people.I think he was just talking about the ones on YouTube…not in general…just look at “TheAmazingAtheist”'s videos.
Perhaps there is on a philosophical level, but not for living your life from day to day. I think the biggest difference between those two groups and Christians is that they do not believe they were born evil.i think there is a big difference between being an atheist or an agnostic.
Atheists believe that there is no god and agnostics believe that it is impossible to know if there is a God. Thats pretty much the difference.i think there is a big difference between being an atheist or an agnostic.
Dear Monica:Hello SFTor,
I am technically still, well in limbo. An atheist until well, lets just say very very recently. But, In fairness he did not say all atheists, he narrowed it down a bit.
I have not had anyone really offend me when I first started posting here. And even when I had a pretty controversial thread open.
Anyway- I do believe that you are just as welcome here as anyone is from what I can see.
I am no longer an atheist in my heart, but I can’t call myself a christian either. So, I would like to extend a hand out and welcome you with peace.
Monica
yes, curtis. i agree. it looks like there are a lot of people here who feel like you do tonight. maybe it is the season!Atheists believe that there is no god and agnostics believe that it is impossible to know if there is a God. Thats pretty much the difference.
There is also a blurry line, and there are people like I was- more apathetic than anything. My parents were called “millitant athiests” by christians.Atheists believe that there is no god and agnostics believe that it is impossible to know if there is a God. Thats pretty much the difference.
Not to mention that they are just ordinary people, making their way through this world.yes, curtis. i agree. it looks like there are a lot of people here who feel like you do tonight. maybe it is the season!
You mean to be able to commit any act, no matter how immoral, and think that you wont be held accountable to God for your sins. Yes that is who we “really are”…its due to original sin. But God made a way for us to fix all that. It seems the devil is working ot tonight…Deborah,
don’t you sometimes wish you could be unencumbered by the strictures of religion, and know yourself for who you really are?
Curtis,You mean to be able to commit any act, no matter how immoral, and think that you wont be held accountable to God for your sins. Yes that is who we “really are”…its due to original sin. But God made a way for us to fix all that. It seems the devil is working ot tonight…
That’s not exactly fair now is it?You mean to be able to commit any act, no matter how immoral, and think that you wont be held accountable to God for your sins. Yes that is who we “really are”…its due to original sin. But God made a way for us to fix all that. It seems the devil is working ot tonight…
Its called your conscience…Thats another wonderful gift God gave us so we are without excuse when it comes to us committing sin…we know whats right and wrong but we still do it regardless. I never said Christians have a monopoly on decency. Thats all about freewill. We either choose the sinful act or the moral act. I wish we would all choose door number two but, mostly, whats behind door number one looks all too appealing.Curtis,
I don’t think thiat is how we are at all. I have no faith in any god, yet I feel a strong compulsion to behave like a decent human being towards all living things. Yes, even without the prospect of being punished by a supernatural being.
Christians do not have a monopoly on decency. Keep it in mind.
Best,
Tor
actually, i lived that way for 25 years until life hit me in the face!!!Deborah,
don’t you sometimes wish you could be unencumbered by the strictures of religion, and know yourself for who you really are?
It seems to me that you don’ t have any problem with your faith. It’s your tolerance and generosity that needs work. You mean to be able to commit any act, no matter how immoral, and think that you wont be held accountable to God for your sins. Yes that is who we “really are”…its due to original sin. But God made a way for us to fix all that. It seems the devil is working ot tonight…
