Maybe there’s something wrong with me. I’m not seeing the humor in this situation at all. What I see is another priest who decided to place his disordered desires above his priestly vocation, and thus managed to put another black mark on the public face of the Church. I pray to God that he hasn’t exposed himself to other children so the diocese can avoid major lawsuits, the resulting publicity, and the potential financial damage (as well as the use of the hard-earned money donated by the faithful).
I’m sorry, but IMO laughing at this situation sends the very public message that we don’t take these things seriously as a Church. Our Church may have the fullness of truth, but we sure don’t need any more lousy PR.
