I believe you and feel that had you pointed out the danger in making “false” statements and assumptions you could still be supportive in a helpful fashion.
What makes you say this? But I don’t agree with he Baptist church.
I am not at all sure this is an appropriate activity for a Catholic. Our Church teaches that the Holy Spirit is at work in such ecclesial communities and that there are many graces in them that lead people to Christ.show that the Baptist church is false
It is your duty to honor your parents. One way to honor them is to accept their faith tradition, even if you do not share it. If she chooses not to know, it is your place to respect her choice. Obviously this is not a viable option for you (you clearly need to research and find out more about other faith traditions), but live and let live!I’m kind of angry at her because I’m trying to tell her about other churches with all of this info I’m researching but all she says is I don’t know. How am I supposed to talk to her if she doesn’t know.
I am not sure what this means, but definitely there are many Baptists who have a very “original” faith in Christ which should be respected.I just think that the Baptist church looks unoriginal.
Well, technically speaking, it is more a case of “never being saved in the first place”. Most Baptist espouse a Calvanistic theology (TULIP) that translates “once saved always saved” which means people that backslide or later deny Christ were never in the fold in the firsdt place.Like you can’t lose salvation, even though you can lose salvation.
Catholics follow the Apostolic teaching that our journey to salvation is not complete until the end of this life. Throughout our time here on earth, we are working out our salvation.I love history so I would study the past and it shows the Baptist church skipping 1500 years after Christ’s crucifixion to make a new church.
As you continue to study history, you will learn more about why they felt this was necessary. When they read the New Testament, they could not equate the Church of the Middle Ages with what they were reading.I love history so I would study the past and it shows the Baptist church skipping 1500 years after Christ’s crucifixon to make a new church.
You are giving a good example of this yourself. You are frustrated that your mother is not interested in discussing these things. People are people, and we tend to be intolerant with each other. Why can’t chritistians just have one church and agree on everything instead of having divisions.
Technically speaking, Jesus only founded One Church, so there really is only One, and all who are in Christ are in His One Body, the Church.Yes, it would be great if there is only one Church which everyone is part of.
Yes Steve Ray is great. You can download plenty of podcasts. Here’s a thought. Steve Ray converted to Catholicism from the Baptist tradition. He is one of the best apologists I know of.
You are right, it is incumbent upon all members to respect the faith of others. I agree, we would not want this said about the Catholic Church (though it is said all the time, often by Baptists!).I am not a Baptist but I find the statement “the Baptist Church is false” as inappropriate and offensive and should not be allowed on this forum.
Those warnings are for individuals. Take them to heart for yourself, but don’t invest yourself in criticizing the faith of others. Jesus has taught us that the wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest. He has called us to bear much fruit - not to be inspectors of other people’s fruit. Do what you know is right for you, and respect others will do the same.Yes, because the Bible keeps talking about false teachers and false religions. It says that they will lead many to astray.
Very nice. Those warnings are for individuals. Take them to heart for yourself, but don’t invest yourself in criticizing the faith of others. I think it’s the other way around. Fruit of faith is good works.Like how you need to do good works and have faith. It’s clearly in the New Testament but I forgot where it was.
