An interesting video on what one city (Nanjing) did to stop the virus in China

Keep in mind that most of our information about how political and health authorities have responded, is filtered through the media
Trump’s words are conveyed with fidelity in video and in his own tweets.
True. The hard core supporters will tune directly to the actual sources and be skeptical of whatever the msm is putting out. But the great majority just Watches the regular news, which is Fox plus the other side .

Please stop politicization of this.
Read the rest of his post. He makes clear that the Dems don’t inspire any more confidence either. I’ve been following this thing for months. I’ve watched Trump’s conferences (not just the press coverages). I think Trump is taking serious action but it’s too late. He was 100% correct to ban the Chinese flights but it should have been ALL international flights.

And yes, I know he’d have been lambasted especially by the hypocritical Democrats. But that’s what the job entails, making the necessary decisions even when unpopular. Trump has been far more effective in his handling of this crisis than either Sanders or Biden would have been. But my severest criticism for Trump is that his decisions have largely been predicated on what boosts his image. It’s not about that and it shouldn’t be about politics at all.

Thus is about survival as a nation.

I’m no supporter of Joe Biden: in fact, I dread the possibility of his election. Neither do I support Trump; but I will give him credit for good decisions, not bad ones, just like I would do for anyone else, whichever political party they affiliate with. I’m not out to get Trump for this mess, but I feel I have a right to express my outrage, as well as praise, at policy makers and political leaders during times of crisis as well as during more normal circumstances.

This is just me, and it’s all I’m going to say on the subject but I think on what is still a Catholic board, we should be focusing on prayer and how we can uplift each other and our communities and leave the partisan political bickering at the door. There are plenty of places to do that on the internet.

If you hate Trump, we get it. You already hate Trump
If you hate Biden, Sanders, et al; we get it. You already hate them.

And saying “I don’t hate them, but…” won’t be helpful.

Again, this is just me. Determine where your time is best spent, and you (general you) do you.

Great video, thanks. If that is what it takes t clatter the curve, I am not sure that we will get fat.

Where on earth do you get the idea that ‘everyone else who has the Corona Virus gets better’?
I really hope you don’t have any elderly relatives with underlying medical conditions because if they catch it the odds are, very sadly, not good at all.

I understood him to mean he hopes Prince Albert, just like everyone else who has the corona virus, gets better. He wasn’t saying everyone who gets the corona virus gets better.

It does appear that I may have misunderstood - sorry Adam! The sentence could have used an additional ‘I hope’ to avoid the confusion.
Sadly here in the UK there are countless examples of people failing to understand the seriousness of this issue to the frustration of many of us…which no doubt clouded my interpretation of Adam’s comment. Apologies once again. Stay safe…and separate…everyone!

Yeah, I’m with you. Now is not the time to make this a partisan issue.

You’re not only flat-out misunderstanding me, you’re distorting what I said. Where did I say that everyone that gets it gets better? I flat-out said that one of the reasons I’m afraid to get it, is because I don’t want to die. There are people here who know me much better than you do, and even the ones I disagree with don’t try to say things like that.

I will repeat the apology I made two posts above here Adam in case the two crossed over online. I do apologise for my misunderstanding…I guess it’s always a risk online with only text to go on. Stay safe!

The main reason ? Fertility rates in Northern Italy have been so low that Italy has the 2nd oldest population on earth.

Fertility rates have been so low that for the past 10 years various towns have gone extinct due to lack of population.

Another thing they’re not say is, because of the aging population, the area hit hardest in Italy, has the highest immigrant population from Asia. Again, this is to help with the aging population. Younger Asians returned back to China and other parts of Asia for the Chinese New Year, then returned to Italy carrying the virus.

They didn’t flatten the curve, they stomped it out completely.
No, we could not implement all those measures legally in the USA.

I also question if all the infrared temperature checking is more theater than helpful. Maybe it catches some people who obviously know they are sick and won’t stay home. But the theater may be helpful by focusing people on the problem.

I don’t follow the news although I think it would be impossible to not know anything about coronavirus at this point. I knew Italy had been badly affected by coronavirus but I hadn’t seen any photos or videos.

My point was that this video was the first thing to really make me take this whole thing seriously.

With all due respect, this story has been in the international news since January. Not sure how you are just finding out about it now, since you obviously spend time on the Internet. I would say if this is news to you then yes, you’ve been in a bit of a bubble.
We are only getting that footage now in Australia too. But it does seem that it’s current. It shows the conditions in a hospital in Bergamo just this week.
