Yes it is risky (we tempt God) to gether in the Church right now for communinion, because some Christians, let’s say even those sick already whose immune system can overcome the virus, but they can infect the weak who might pass to eternity because if this virus (corona)

Even if some one is sick by coronavirus (willingly, unwillingly)
He tempts God if he transfer unwillingly this infection to others.
The same with those pentecostal pastors who take poisonous snakes, believing that nothing will happen to them because God is Almighty.

In one and another example the people tempt God.

Just read report about Iceland, having highest rate of infection. Small population, they are testing everyone! Interesting finding: half of those that tested positive, are showing no symptoms.

So half of us could potentially, now or in near future, be walking around healthy but spreading infection. Think: Typhoid Mary!

I was just watching a report from a journo in New York City who said it’s been declared a disaster zone with one person dying every hour.
It just struck me: to quote one source,
  • Mayor Bill de Blasio also called for getting everything from masks to gowns, as well as doctors and other medical workers to New York City, and asked President Donald Trump to have the U.S. military take over the logistics of making and distributing medical supplies. “I can’t be blunt enough. If the president doesn’t act, people will die who could have lived otherwise,” de Blasio told NBC’s “Meet The Press.”
And yet, and yet, all the hospitals have been ordered to stop all non-essential medical procedures, yet de Blasio refuses to close the abortion clinics. Weird …

Thats the thing with covid. Many people are carriers and asymptomatic , and they could be infecting others with compromised immune systems. They could carry on witheir lives as usual, but those immunocompromised can die. Thats thr scary part. A lot of people are still being flippant about this saying its just like the flu when it is not.

Agreed, except that the health care system in NYC is already overloaded
There will definitely be an uptick in admissions. Remember, too, that much of that overloading is due to panicked people flooding the ER but testing negative, at least as I’ve heard anecdotally from one nurse.
Anyway, why COVID19 is such an issue is that it is highly contagious.
COVID 19, according to the best data I can find, actually has an r0 factor of 2.8. So it would not be classified as “highly contagious.” You can see here how it compares to other diseases.

Please don’t shoot the messenger. I’m still taking precautions but believe that solid data is important.

Point taken. As far as official classification goes it does not fall into the highly contagious category. The issue is that it is contagious while in the incubation period and so it can spread through a network of people unawares.

You’re just in a bubble that it hasn’t hit yet. Give it time, so far the US hasn’t flattened the curve at all, in fact it’s curving the wrong direction last I saw. Remain vigilant and if possible at home.

I love his knowledge and common snese, but he tends toward the dour end of things and I would guess that he is not a man of faith.

Hope to be proven wrong on that.

Hard to say with the English. They are very dry, I love their humor. He is a scientist though. Hard to say. Ive said a few prayers for him. At least we can count on him to take precautions.

Can viruses mutate, develop different strains? Do we know if they modify their particular pattern?

There were just as many telling him to not cause a panic. Look at the rest of the world, we are doing well compared to many nations.

I agree that this will not be a 15 day issue. They just want to slow down the numbers so as not to overwhelm hospitals. I think they might let people go out for awhile, then pull them back in again and do that over and over again. They know they need people to get it and build up immunities to it so most of the “herd” is protected.

Yes, viruses mutate. Pretty sure this is what HIV has done and why they can’t have a vaccine for it.

no, The virus is acting quite differently in different countries. It appears to be being spread quite evenly between age groups and genders in USA, Aus for example.

It has not mutated yet, it has no need to because our immune systems cannot fight it off.

AS my dad told me, any fool can condemn, criticize, or complain.

What would you have done? Recommend “stay at home” sooner? Remove the regulations to let companies create test kits sooner?

Well, a president can persuade. Trump had an opportunity to inform the country of the seriousness of the problem and to foster volunteer compliance with emergency suggestions. Instead, he once again pooh poohed science and downplayed the danger. As a result, people in the US died who could have survived.

Trump could have easily acted differently but he acted according to his habits.
