I wonder how you would describe that fragrance Sarcelle?

Hopefully some cuttings I’ve taken will grow ,I don’t know the names of the roses but they are an older variety…one smells like rose talc powder, the other more fruity 🙂

For the John Paul II rose?

The fragrance is reminiscent of oranges.

It has a spicy citrusy fragrance like orange blossoms.

Just to let you guys know, if you’re going to be posting pictures of roses, I’m going to be stealing them. I’m starving over here.

There’s something to be said about the spiritual element of painting rose’s. This one went so much better knowing it’s namesake. I know how much His Holiness appreciated artists. St. JPII, pray for us!

Here is a picture of a rose named after Mother Teresa.

A beautiful display of yellow roses received from my husband for our Anniversary…

👍
You’ve captured its essence.

Your painting made my day a little bit brighter.

I’ve had little reason to smile nowadays having lost my job to the Coronavirus but your painting has given me some consolation.

God bless.

The Red Rose of Lancaster is the county flower of Lancashire.

I agree. Going through a miserable time as well, but these beautiful paintings and all the flower pictures bring consolation and cheer to my day.

Sorry about your hard time, Sarcelle; I’ll pray for you.

Thank you. I need all the prayers I can get. The situation right now is too volatile and only God can get us through this safely.

Praying for you too.

Thank you. I’m sorry about your job. I quit my job on May 1st, Feast of St. Joseph the Worker ironically. I don’t consider myself unemployed, but self-employed and I’m not sheltering in place, I’m an artist in residence. That’s why I can do all these flower paintings. I’m glad they’re helping you, your photos are helping me a lot.

I’m teaching an online workshop next month on this technique. Since you’ve been so generous with your photos, I’d like to enroll you in the class for free. Then you can follow along in real time.

Here’s how the last one turned out. I’m praying for everone.

Your paintings are beautiful, Tad. That’s a real gift that you have. I am envious.

It’s very distinct with the little flower opening in the middle :thinking:I have no idea what it is,but it’s really lovely.

I started working on another type of flower. Daisies were my mother’s favorite. The reference photo for these were taken from a bunch in front of her house when I was there for her funeral last summer. I never understood why she liked daisies so much, perhaps for their simple elegance, but as work on this painting and flowers seem to appear out of the mist, I feel like I’m getting to know my mom a little bit better.

I think daisies like sunflowers have such open sunny faces, befitting summer flowers.

Another flower of summer with a surprising Arctic name. I present to you the polar bear zinnia.
