Wow, I thought I was the only person with Asperger’s, we should form a club.

Well. Maybe it’s the mood I’m in. Or maybe it’s the way I see life. I’ve been down on myself more times than I’ve been up on myself. I get a sense of where you’re coming from. I take meds, I look for support, and sometimes you need some tough love.

You have made a good point porthos11, if I am going to change my life I am going to have to stop whining about the past and focus on the present. Porthos11 can I tell you about the things I did in the last year that helped me become a better person.
  • I got good grades at community college and made the Dean’s List.
  • I was the vice president of student senate( I helped set up a food shelf on my community college campus).
  • I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
  • I got a scholarship to finish to last semester of community college.
I feel like these accomplishments do not mean anything compared to what other people my age have done.

For me it is, I tried joining the army but got disqualified because of aspergers.

Man, I’m 20 years old too and haven’t done much. And actually although I am really boastful of my catholic faith, I fail and fall all the time in the public scene amongst friends and neighbor. I feel like a failure too, a failed Catholic that is. I even joined a religious Order for a few months and wound up discerning out. Because of this, I have to constantly remind myself that I’m NOT a failure, and that life has barely started for us! I am with you! But we must look ahead and strive for holiness TODAY. Tomorrow is done.

That’s not bad list of accomplishments. More than I did in college. You made it sound like you were a mediocre student that spends all his time on Reddit in your original post.

I didn’t think these accomplishments were that impressive, oh and by the way I was a really bad student in high school, but I got my act together in community college.

It’s good that you didn’t peak in high school.

Some people never get it together.

Really, I thought that if you were a good student in high school you would automatically succeed in college.

Depends. I was Valedictorian of my high school but struggled a lot in college because class sizes were too big and it was a research institution, the the professors couldn’t care less about teaching. My high school was a small Catholic school where 99% of the teachers were good and constantly honing their craft. I have since declined a large public university pharmacy college in favor of a private smaller one.

Even the smartest people can struggle in school because the stupid instructors either don’t know how to teach or how to evaluate whether you understand the concepts (e.g. poorly worded questions on exams, etc.).

I actually could not do anything outside of studying while in college because my health was failing from all the studying I was doing and anything additional would be very harmful. Also, this was a very elite school. Not Ivy League, but within the top twenty in the nature for sure. I couldn’t get very far in school non-academically because I was of the wrong culture. So, I was very socially isolated.

Don’t worry.

Now’s the time to find out. You can do this in your daily life through reading, watching videos, volunteer activities, job shadowing. It’s not surprising to have several interests and interests may come and go.

Have you ever considered an aptitude test? There are job centers that can give it to you.

We all feel we want to go back but all we can do is go forward God will provide he always does

Being a good Catholic does not mean you will necessarily be successful in the way the world tells us we should.

Remember that all the success in the world is little more than pure vanity, and a very successful person would also be most likely full of pride which is sinful.

You are 20 years old , you have a lot to live for. Having no friends although sadly a common issue in our modern world can be addressed, I would encourage you to seek out Church groups or volunteer activities to help you connect with others who share your same interests.

God always provides ways for us to become holy, but it is up to us to take advantage of them.

God does not care about our earthly successes / trophies, but rather on how much we have loved Him and our fellow humans.

There are 3 sure ways to destroy your life:

1ºSubstance abuse.
2ºCriminal activity.
3ºGetting involved with the wrong woman.

As long as you keep away from those and hold a job your life will turn for the better.
