@Jovian90: I know how you feel. I’m 58. And I’ve been through times when I’ve felt worthless, trapped, or hopeless. When I couldn’t pray for myself, I asked the Blessed Mother to pray for me. She always leads me back to Jesus, who accepts me no matter how hopeless I feel.

20 years old? You are pure potential.
You can be whatever you want. God made us all different. Compete with your best self.

Study goal setting strategies. Youtube has many in the TED talks and other types of presentations.
If you want to reach the big goal then break it up into smaller goals.
Decide precisely what you want and go for it.

I think He is above me so I cant be his friend, but I did ask him for math help.
Do you like math? If so, then it’s great to want to be friends with someone who shares your interest.

But if you don’t like math–who cares if you’re good at it or not? Just pass the course.

I would concentrate on activities and subjects that you actually like, and in the process of doing or studying these things, you will meet others who share your interest.

Really, trophies are just metal ,plastic and cloth and whatever 🙂 I have some and they live in the bottom of my wardrobe taking up room.
I think I felt as you did back when I was twenty, and went overseas …it was the best experience .Have you considered volunteering in another country ? The cost of living is very cheap in a third world country ,and the giving of yourself to help others stays with you for life, becomes part of who you are .God bless.

I am 20 years old and I feel like a failure, I haven’t won a single trophy, accomplished any remarkable feat
I’m 16 and I haven’t won any trophies either. Neither have I accomplished any feat worth noting. But none of that matters. God’s still writing your story, and it’s far from over.
I feel like I have let everyone in my family down including my deceased mother
Your mother is likely smiling down on you from Heaven for keeping the faith. That’s a start there. If you have wronged your family in any way, there’s nothing to stop you from reconciling yourself with them. Your family loves you. I don’t think anything you could do could make them love you any less.
I don’t want to tell anybody that I am Catholic or Christian because I will just make the faith look bad by my incompetence.
I sometimes think I am incompetent myself. None of us deserve this beautiful Church of ours that Christ established. God ultimately wants you in Heaven with Him. Keep that in mind. And don’t fret! God loves you the way you are. You are far from incompetent in God’s eyes.
I just want God to send me back in time to the year 1998 so I can do fix all my mistakes and live a good life.
We all have our regrets. But no one can live a perfect life. If a good life is one without mistakes, well, we all know of only two people who never made any of those.
I suppose that I should move on but it’s hard because any time I look back on my life I am reminded of all my failures.
The devil will try to dissuade you with your failures. None of that matters now. What you can do is live your life to the fullest in your faith from this point onward.
I would like to add that I had this one guy in my math class who was a super cool guy and really smart this made me envy him because I am really bad at math, I am sharing this information because I feel like people are always better than me at everything I attempt, weather it’s math, sports, or charity.
God has given you a talent in some aspect of your life. All you have to do is find it. I for one did not discover the skill I had in music until I was 14, and I couldn’t help but think for those 14 years that talent had gone to waste, but for me, it’s all the more reason to use this talent to glorify God.

Another thing, there’s always going to be somebody who’s better than you at something. It’s hard to be the best at everything. I often see expert pianists and wish I could play like that. Maybe God only gave you the mediocre skill you have because that’s the only amount of skill you need in His eyes. Also, charity is not something that needs skill.
But what if I am not good enough for his friendship?
No one’s good enough for friendship. But that’s okay. You see people still capable of friendship even so. Friends can look beyond the flaws you may have.

Someone told me that people had levels of “coolness” and that the level of “coolness” was based on how popular you are or how talented you are, thus this person said that you could only be friends with people at your level of “coolness”.
I used to believe that as well, but really, the whole “coolness” thing is overrated. Does God care about how “cool” you are? Does He see that as a necessity for making friends? Why not get to know the people in your parish community?
Religion is one of my interests I have been reading the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
That’s great! Maybe apologetics is your strong suit. Maybe you could volunteer for your church’s youth ministry group, if they have one, and if you have the time. Perhaps God’s calling you to lead people closer to Christ. Or maybe God’s calling you to the priesthood.
I use to be into dinosaurs, though I think I am to old for that.
Look at all the paleontologists in the world.
Thanks for this kind post, another problem I have is that my interests keep changing
That’s not a bad thing. Mine usually shift back and forth until I find one or more particular interests that I’m really into. At some point one or more interests will just “click.”
I don’t know honestly but I was thinking about something in political science.
Also not a bad idea.

And by the way…
I have asperger’s disorder.
So do I!

We all have our crosses but they do not define us. We are measured by how we pick up our crosses and help others along the way with mercy and love. There is plenty of things I wish I could go back and change.

But the past no longer exists and the future is not yet made, our God is a God of the present who uses our past experiences and struggles to shape our future

I’m 32 years old and I used to trap myself in regret and dreams of redoing things.

But I can’ redo things. This is my life. And that’s okay. I don’t need to be a superstar or super successful. My life’s meaning isn’t defined by that.

Focus on what you have and what you can do.

Failures can be useful if you learn from them.

Use them to forge yourself a better future. It’s never too late. Use your mistakes to help you not defeat you.

Nothing should go to waste and this includes failure.

By the way, I have Asperger’s too.

I have Asperger’s and I was in the military.

I know several people who have Asperger’s and are in the military.

It shouldn’t be an impediment.

Dyslexics Untie! 🙃

(Sorry if that is offensive. The devil made me do it.)

The reason why I question coolness is because coolness is defined differently in every generation. In reality what sets everyone apart as unique individuals ,probably, has something to do with beauty of body ,mind, and spirit encompassing gifts and talents in acts of grace. It, also, may have something to do with what a generation values the most. For this generation it is cool to own the latest IPhone.
Someone may be a miserable sinner but, they have some kind of charisma, masculine or feminine that makes them appear to be unique and mysterious. Maybe someone else can comment on that?

In the world of relationships, “Like attracts like.” In other words, if you find someone with your interests and talents you get along with them. But, people change as they mature and this could cause individuals to drift apart.

You may be fascinated with someone based on the great acts they can perform and you may be inspired to imitate and become like them. Eventually you will, probably, find your own path.

If you read biographies of people you aspire to, you will find that they had to struggle. From the biographies I have read, I find that most people who were successful did what ever was in their hearts. They became famous, but, never really set that as a goal. It’s just that most people excel at what they love the most.
