I love me some accordion but it probably wouldn’t end up in my country western. Banjo maybe.

My husband and I have been fans of this wonderful Western band since they first started over 30 years ago. They are amazing! So entertaining, and sooooooo talented!
Our two daughters absolutely loved them while they were growing up! For a few years, Riders in the Sky had a Saturday morning TV show, and the girls got so hyper watching it that we finally had to take it away from them! It’s one of their favorite family stories, and on our list of “House Rules,” we have a rule that “…if the movie makes you too hyper, it gets taken away!”
Seriously, though, if you listen to this great band, you’ll hear how the accordion is very much used in Western music. Any portable instrument can be used in a country western song.
Their Grammy was for the music in Toy Story II, which they wrote and performed. They said they felt totally out-of-place at the Grammy awards ceremony!
Have you ever seen that Far Side comic where the cowboys are sitting around a campfire, and one of them says, “Take that thing out and play us a song!” -directing his request to a cowboy who has a grand piano in his back pocket?! So funny!
