Stop asking a bunch of strangers and just go for it.

I still listen to their music. I bought their Tv Christmas special from years ago, and I enjoyed watching it as much as years ago. My only regret is not discovering their music until the late 80s.

I grew up listening to them on country radio (back when it was only on AM radio stations) because my dad loved that music. I’m so glad I did!

LOVE the Mighty Oaks! I missed them the last time they were in concert here, but I hope to catch them next time!

And Jimmy!
he really wasn’t an adequate replacement. It produced an entirely different harmony.

Good, but not really comparable.
Yeah, they still have it!
We saw them a few years ago, in a fairly small room.

Watching Richard Sterban was intriguing–as a low note approached, he held his palm out flat at various heights as if measuring ahead of time. (for those not familiar, he makes Johny Cash sound like a soprano . . . hitting notes that would make a cement mixer jealous . . .)

Jimmy deserves props for “More Than a Name on The Wall”. I still cry my eyes out when I hear that song.

By the way, who else remembers the song “Don’t Wait on Me”, which had to be re-done in 1988… and do you know the reason why it had to be re-done??

Richard Sterban… wow! He’ll always be known for his iconic solo in “Elvira” (oom pah pah mou mou) but I loved it when he sang solo on “Dream On”, and that is the perfect description… “makes Johnny Cash sound like a soprano”.

Definitely.

Also, perhaps more of a tear jerker, the much earlier “Silver medals and sweet memories”
To Eileen, I love you
London, nineteen forty-three.
And she never heard from him again
And he never heard of me
And the war still ain’t over for Mama
Every night in her dreams she still sees
The young face of someone who brought her
Silver medals and sweet memories.
(Before jimmy’s time with them)
his iconic solo in “Elvira” (oom pah pah mou mou)
that’s one of the ones where it was obvious!

 🤣

err, I think that if there are any songs mentioned here that I don’t have on vinyl and CD, my father has the vinyl . . .

That reminds me of people who will say (or more likely write), ‘so-and-so was in fine voice that night.’
