Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get started?
Step 1: Have your wife leave you
Step 2: Have her take your pickup
Step 3: Have her take your dog too
Step 4: Get Drunk
Step 5: add a line or two about a tractor

Too funny! Like a typical Gen Xer, I distrust earnestness, so the best I could probably do is a parody.

Fair enough!

I had a friend who used to refer to C&W music as Cater&Wauling 😉

Not my cup of musical tea…very closely followed by barbershop. For me…nowt compares with a Welsh Male Voice Choir…especially the Treorchy Male Voice.

Google their version of ‘Gwahoddiad’

Chorus:

Arglwydd, dyma fi
Ar dy alwad di,
Canna f’enaid yn y gwaed
A gaed ar Galfari.

Translation:

I am coming, Lord,
Coming now to thee.
Wash me, cleanse me in the Blood
That flowed on Calvary.

Probably just rhythm. And purely acoustic.

I have a Guild mahogany body steel string - also an Epiphoje twelve string that might fit in although I associate that with folk music. Ideally there’s be some slide guitar in it but I don’t know how to do that.

I bought it about four or five years ago. It was probably the most expensive guitar I have bought to date. But I rarely play it because I’ve been learning classical guitar for which I use my Alvarez.

So, out of curiosity, what is the general British opinion on American Country Music?

From what I understand, Country descended from the folk music of the Appalachians who originally were Scotch-Irish, but I’m not a music historian, so I can’t swear to it.

I think it also has some kinship with country blues and gospel and even minstrelry…

I’m kind of getting into jug bands too. Wish I could start a jug band called ‘Jugplay.’

Don’t forget the woman’s point of view.

Myself, I’d write about how I don’t need any man’s justification, I walk my own way, pay my own dues, can’t abide those singin’ the blues, walk strong walk proud, sing long sing loud, BUT if you like a gal who’s tough and think that you’ve got guts enough then walk along with me and let’s see what we’ll see.

Or some such.
