I want to express, as someone who was raised Roman Catholic and is planning on becoming a Maronite priest, I see no reason in practicing these traditions and point of views, as long as one is very well versed in his/her own traditions. There are 5 Liturgical Rites, each one with similar and very different practices to each other and with similar and different points of view on theology and spirituality - all these compliment the others traditions. That being said, I am for de-latinization of the Qurbono/Qurbana/Divine Liturgy/Holy Mystery and for liturgical matters. But I see no issue(s) with an Eastern Catholic using these practices, the same way I see no issue(s) in Western Catholics using Eastern practices- as like I said as long as they are well versed in their own tradition, for instance my mother would like to get a prayer rope, there are Western Catholics that do the prayer of St. Ephrem during Great Lent and some Western Catholics have Eastern icons, personally I see no issue in this. True, but through adult catechesis, it is at least possible to give them an appreciation for the Eastern perspective. Why bother? So that the younger generations can be encouraged at all levels to learn the genuine traditional views, without being “corrected” by parents and grandparents. The cycle has to be broken at some point.
