I was wrong about Harry Potter

I have been a staunch defender of the Harry Potter books but after a visit to the store this morning I have changed my mind. The store was full of scary cosutmes, witches hats, orange skulls and all sorts of devilish acessories-ALL SIZED FOR OUR CHILDREN!!!

I assume that these garmentt were made for the children to wear to a black mass and there is no doubt this me phenonama is the direct result of the influence of Harry Potter Books. i was thnking what next kids wearing these evil gamrents and going door to door demanding goods!?

Having been deceived by Harry Potter , which sucked the souls out of our children as surely as if theyhad received the dementors kiss , I began to review other seeminlgy harmeless childrens books that have corrupted our children.

EXHIBIT I

The Cat in the Hat, by Dr Seus

Just look at the plot of this insdious book. It begins with a Mother abandoning her children. Thats right-she walks out and leaves two young children alone in the middle of the day! Now Seuss does not give us a reason for this abandonment but it is proabably one of two things-either she is going out to spend her husbands hard earned money on clothes and booze or she is going to meet a secret lover. i suspect it is the latter as the drawing in the book shows her showing a lot of leg as she walks out the door. The result is that an early age our children are exposed to a boook that has themes of adultery an abandoment.

But it gets worst. having been abandonded children know they should call 911. Not the message of this book however-they not only do not make he call but they LET A STRANGER IN!

The fact the stranger looks like a Cat and is colorfully dressed is an attempt to lead our children to believe its ok to go with funny looking strangers. And we soon see what a low life furrball Mr Cat is. Rather than call child protective services to have them placed in a Foster home he proceeds to lead them is several hours of debauchery which includes destroying property, torturing a fish and cavorting with two strange single men(whos relaionship issuspicous at best).

Still Seuss could have redeemed the book by having the children pay the consequences of their actions, But once again he subverts our children by having the cat magically summon a diabolical machine that puts the house back in order. As in Harry Potter we see the glorifitication of magic and the idea that the ends justifies the end.

Truly a desicable book and one that should definately be kept away from our children

You understood me correctly. All you have to do is make them doubt I exist. If you can’t quite get them to believe that, the next best thing is make them believe that my servants are really good guys. Get them to believe that what is evil is not to bad by calling it fiction. Oh and be sure to have them make fun of anyone who points out it is evil. Before you know it we will have them and their children in our clutches laughing all the way to us.

It probably would have been better if he had put the “winkie” in the post or title… It is SO difficult to show true satire in print.

I think the HP series was wonderful. A true “good vs. evil” series with very human characteristics involved (even those of troubled teenagers). Do you have a “Lord Voldemort” in your life? How about a Dursley? We could only hope to have friends as true as Ron or Hermione.

I heard recently( on the news,) the author of Harry Potter stating that one of the characters (in next series) will “come out of the closet”. Some were questioning that this would be a subtle message to children that “gay is acceptable.”
Any thoughts???

It came out after the Kroean war and one wonders if it was realy a ploy to turn our children against orientals(yellow dog, remember?)

Yes it should definately go on our list, which thus far has 9 entries-7 Harry Potter books, The Cat in the hat and Old Yeller.

This is not a Harry Potter thread. However I do recall that Thing one and Thing Two in the Cat n the hat went into and then came out of the childrens closet. More evidence of the evil nature of this book
 
Phew, you had me going for a second. I actually thought for a minute there that you were serious ( I know, I dumb).
 
How about coming out of the closet in Narnia?😉 Btw, I do think Harry Potter is not good…:eek:

Narnia with its hints of bestiality, magic and children hacking others to death with swords is also a book to keep away from your children-but we will leave that for another day

Can we add Cinderella to your list? First there’s the talking animals and the ONLY use of magic is by the “good” Godmother! Not to mention the untold podiatric damage done to young girls trying to copy Cinderella by putting on glass shoes!

And the stereotyping of Stepmothers as being wicked., animal abuse(Mice pulling carriages) and the glorification of using magic We should definately add it to our list.

Peter Pan and Wendy must also go into the trash heap, while we’re at it. I mean, did you ever see such inconsiderate, disobedient children? :eek:

And what about children who might think that fairies really exist, because they read about Tinkerbell? Or children who might want to detach from their shadows, or try to fly out their bedroom windows and go to Neverland? :eek:

On a more serious note, I have no issues one way or the other with the Harry Potter series. It is well within the English tradition of magical stories - they are not, nor ever were, intended to be mistaken for Christian morality tales - those who want their children to be exposed only to Christian morality tales need not buy the Harry Potter books, nor any of the King Arthur stories, nor Peter Pan and Wendy, nor Bedknobs and Broomsticks, nor anything written by Dr. Seuss, etc., etc., etc.

As for those who think that instances of kids talking backwards to make things happen in the Harry Potter books has anything in common with Wicca either haven’t actually read the books, or don’t really know anything about Wicca. (Wiccans do not talk backwards in order to do their spells.)

PS: Oh, yes - and all of those talking animals in books by Beatrix Potter, and Thornton Burgess - these, too, must be piled on our burn heap, lest children become confused about the role of the natural world. :eek:

I beleive this happened in the Harry Poter movie TCOS. If you listen closely to Basaliks hiss it is saying erodelbmud si yag.
