What about the “Three Little Pigs”? Aren’t pigs the symbol of idolatry?

The pigs started off as Capitalists, each working independantly and in competition with one another, but when they found out that they couldn’t succeed without working together cooperatively (obviously, because they were lazy, stupid, and shiftless), they became godless Communists, and even lived together in the same house, as in a Commune!! :eek:

Is this the example we want to set for our children?

Plus, they were extremely rude to a perfectly innnocent stranger (they merely assumed that he meant them harm); forcing him to come in through the chimney, and then cooking him in their crock-pot, instead of opening the door like civilized people, to see what he really wanted. Should we be teaching our children such rude behaviour? :mad:

The movie also demeans short people, contain gross cruelty to animals in scenes were fake wings were glued on monkeys and the monkeys and thrown off the parapets of a castle and, promotes pollution when “Surrender Dorothy” is written in the sky in toxic smoke .

To top it all off after putting her companions through pure hell ,convincing than she needed their help to get home , it turns out she could’ve gotten home any time she wanted with help from no one.

Germany ,seing the great harm this movie could cause its children invaded Poland to keep the movie from opening there bringing about World War II.

Please join me in demanding this book be removed from every library in the country and every copy of the movie destroyed. This book and movie make Harry Potter look like Anna of Green Gables.

Correct you are!!!

The Book is even worser. It depicts:

-Good witches (!!!)

-The Tin Woodman is shown as coming into being by wielding a cursed ax and losing his body parts one by one because of it and having it replaced with tin (!!!)

-Having sleep-inducing poppies (It might influence children to experiment with narcotics)

-The Scarecrow is hung up on a pole (“Whoever is hung up on a tree is under God’s curse”)

-The Cowardly Lion is given by the Wizard a bottle labeled ‘Courage’ (which might be an alcoholic beverage!), wherein after ingesting makes him a bit of a bully, never refusing to fight (!). He then accompanies Dorothy on her journey to see Glinda, and allows his friends to stand on his back in order to visit the Dainty China Country, where he damages the only church mentioned in an Oz book until Handy Mandy in Oz (!!!)

-The movie is a classic example of deceivery: The movie depicts Dorothy as having the power to come back home all along using the ruby slippers yet the book has them journey to Glinda’s palace in the Quadling Country, after passing through many more difficulties in order for Dorothy to come back home, where it is revealed that Dorothy has the power to come back home using the power of her Silver Slippers.

Many generations of Americans are tricked into believing an easy way out of any trials and that Dorothy wears ruby slippers!! This is an outrage!! :eek:

The Pope said that a book that teaches children the secrets of witchcraft would be a very bad book. I agree with that, and if I thought that the Harry Potter series did such a thing, I would certainly avoid it at all costs.

Harry Potter is not such a series, though. Real witches do not turn people into pumpkins by talking backwards and waving a stick around. No child will ever effect any kind of real magic by using any of the techniques given in the Harry Potter series.

Hey Everyone!

I like a good laugh as much as anyone, I posted the one about Santa earlier in this thread, in one sense I was joking but in another sense I was half serious. I was laughing more at the fact that people DO think the Santa thing is ok to tell children! 🤷 I do think we need to be careful, especially if we are parents. We have a DUTY to protect them from ANYTHING that MIGHT be a hurdle to their faith!

Anyways, before I get written off as a nut, I would ask for your opinion on these childrens books, and the new film that’s coming out!

"The Golden Compass", “The Subtle Knife”, and “The Amber Spyglass” Which are part of a trilogy called** “His Dark Materials”**

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Especailly if you have read them/ seen the film. 👍

I wouldnt trust any opinion you got here. Having seen the gross distortions and mass hysteris about the Potter series you simply can not trust what you read here.

A lot of people, myself included, have defended Harry Potter on these threads. The writer of Harry Potter made no claims in the press that she was against organized religion. Pullman has. That is a big difference.😦

I am going to read this series as soon as I find them in the library. I thought that you had purchased the books already, Estebob. Have you started reading them?

Just look at the plot of this insdious book. It begins with a Mother abandoning her children. Thats right-she walks out and leaves two young children alone in the middle of the day! Now Seuss does not give us a reason for this abandonment but it is proabably one of two things-either she is going out to spend her husbands hard earned money on clothes and booze or she is going to meet a secret lover. i suspect it is the latter as the drawing in the book shows her showing a lot of leg as she walks out the door. The result is that an early age our children are exposed to a boook that has themes of adultery an abandoment.

But it gets worst. having been abandonded children know they should call 911. Not the message of this book however-they not only do not make he call but they LET A STRANGER IN!

The fact the stranger looks like a Cat and is colorfully dressed is an attempt to lead our children to believe its ok to go with funny looking strangers. And we soon see what a low life furrball Mr Cat is. Rather than call child protective services to have them placed in a Foster home he proceeds to lead them is several hours of debauchery which includes destroying property, torturing a fish and cavorting with two strange single men(whos relaionship issuspicous at best).

Still Seuss could have redeemed the book by having the children pay the consequences of their actions, But once again he subverts our children by having the cat magically summon a diabolical machine that puts the house back in order. As in Harry Potter we see the glorifitication of magic and the idea that the ends justifies the end.

Truly a desicable book and one that should definately be kept away from our children

You’re right on with that one! The worst part to me is that at the end when Mother comes back home and asks them what they did, they don’t tell her but the book says “What would YOU do if your mother asked YOU?” leaving it up to the kids to decide if the characters would be honest or not :eek:

My 2 year old can almost recite that book by heart 😃 Why do kids like Dr. Seuss so much anyway? Does anyone know??? Personally I think the drawings are ugly! :cool:

I havent started reading them yet. I am readng the “Relic” series of books now. i am sure i will be damned for that also.

Mine is too… He let me read stephen king as a child and forced me to watch those horrible Aliens movies…ARGH!

Well, not by God, just by some humans.🙂

I’ve been told that I shouldn’t watch horror movies. Until God tells me differently, I plan to continue watching scary movies.
