I’m a really nice man, I was married for 21 years before she went off to find herself…
I met my new life partner on the internet, met a few before helen and we got along fine, till we met… then when I saw helen, face to face I said yep… this is the one… now nearly 12 years together… still going strong… good people can be hard to find… but we are out there… good luck…
God bless.

My wife followed that advice. She couldn’t stand dating, and finally decided she’d rather stay in a warm bed by herself on a Friday night watching TV rather than dealing with an attempt at a date. She got tired of hearing stories like “I was really only married three times because the one in Vegas didn’t count.”

So, after she decided to give up, yours truly stepped in and swooped her away. 🙂

You were the TV repairman?

I prefer not to marry unless my heart is in it as divorce is not in my book God willing.
Any other Saints to pray to?
A very sound principle, that I wish held good all over the world. 👍

You could certainly try:

St. Raphael (as many have suggested)
St. Louis (a good ruler, father and husband)
St. Joachim 🙂

Good fortune to you. I shall keep you in my prayers.

I am currently praying the St Martha 9 Tuesdays Novena for my future husband. I also pray for him daily, his Faith, prayer life, health, job, character, his heart, etc.

Her Feast day is coming up so if you want to pray the novena leading up to that day you can begin on May 28th and pray on the 9 Tuesdays before July 29th.

Well, praying to saints can help, but earthly friends can be helpful too. I first started dating my future wife when her younger sister called me up out of the blue one evening and said, “Hey, are you going to take my sister to her office Christmas party?” I barely knew either of them and didn’t work in the same office. But who could say no to such an invitation? She did a good thing for both of us.

Thank you for all your replies.
It does mean very much to me because my future husband will become the only real family I have so to speak. 🙂 Gods Will.

I am alone though not lonely. I am attractive and a nice person and with a good reputation. Unfortunately I have not met the right man with whom to form a family and I am wondering if I ever will.
I have prayed to St. Anne but nothing yet.

Good luck with that.

I can relate 🙂

I pray that he knows God and is a practicing Catholic . . I pray that he will be open to a wife and children (I already have one) . . .I pray that God will bless him and protect him . . . that his heart will heal from past losses . . . . that his heart hasn’t grown cold from past hurts, selfishness or indifference . . . and that he will find me soon!

A wise old priest once advised that if I give my heart to God, the man who is right for me will only find me by finding God first.
That is true Suslar, I’ve heard that similar saying: A woman’s heart should be so lost in God that a man must seek Him to find her.

I pray my future husband will be protected by God too and that he remains chaste, strong and patient while he waits for God to bring us together. As far as which saints, I’ve been praying to St. Joseph but I’d like to also know who else!

God will provide for us we just have to work on trusting Him! 🙂

God bless you! Patience is definitely a virtue. I waited until I absolutely found Mr. Right. That happened to take 45 yrs, but he was worth the wait! And, the Lord truly brought him to me. Continue to pray but don’t dwell on it. You can be missing out on life in the meantime. Just have faith and be patient. Give it up to the Lord, for he alone knows when it’s right.

Pray the rosary and ask Mary to assist you. The rosary I am talking about is the sorrowful rosary another name for it is servite rosary. It is one that looks at the sorrows of Mary.

Have anybody suggested to you St. Anthony of Padua? He would be one to pray too. I also agree with the person who said that some early friends are good to help too. Also as an earthly advice, I note you mentioned something along the lines that you were not sure if it is going to happen. That sounds as if you have doubts. Remember faith is being completely sure that Jesus will bring the best for you. The minute you start doubting Jesus’ action well that doesn’t help. You need to have faith, your prayers are being listened and God will bring you a husband. Also you need to have your eyes open and alert if the right person comes along. Make sure your mind is focused on good things and you are doing right discernings so you can identify the right person when it comes. And again don’t doubt, doubt is the worst have faith, make sure you are happy with your own self and make sure you are looking for the right person at the right places.

I wish to find a nice wife as well, and one that is equally yolked. The state of our society these days is in very sad shape, and one is hard pressed to find someone available that’s not tainted by the world, that would be good wife material, next to impossible to find on my own. This is an area that’s completely ignored by the church, and it used to fall on the families themselves to become involved in. With today’s mindset of credentials being totally material, and only material, with little regard to the persons character, it’s no wonder it’s a difficult thing to find an appropriate match.

I look to the parishes I attend, and the only ones that show real devotion are married, elderly, and I never see anybody single, praying at Mary’s shrine/statue, or at adoration, or in bible study.

I have talked to others within the church, and sending someone to some .com is a poor answer, for none of them are worth their weight in dirt. They exploit the singles scene, and all of them, no matter how well packaged, how well stated, draw only those of the world seeking to find someone “conservative”, and not too devout. The web is a terrible place to find a match for so many reasons, and trust me, I’ve already studied and checked out those avenues.

I’ll give you a piece of advice here, that the ones that are husband material, are the ones that always begin as friends and in my case, having faced too many harsh situations with the women of the world, I remain very reserved, wanting to see them reveal themselves and their nature before remotely thinking of pursuing. Devotion to our blessed Mother is key in my world, you have to get through her, to get to me, and that’s really the bottom line.

It’s better to be single, and have the Lord in your heart, then to be married without him. Don’t compromise, and know that the one that created the universe has the capacity to put the right person in your life, it’s up to you to recognize who it is, and when, and don’t be too reserved to not break the ice in dialog.

I, in a way, agree with you Godsmissionary. I do think that the best guys that are husband material are friends first. However, I do think that you can find a spouse on the catholic dating sites. There are many success stories.

My thing is I don’t like it when guys are in a hurry to go into a romance type of thing. It really bugs me. I think, “What is your hurry?” It’s not that I don’t want a life-partner. If I could have found “the one” when I was 17, I would have married then. I just think it’s best to enjoy a friendship, a true friendship first and let things evolve over time, not weeks or days, but more like months, maybe even a year or so before going into a romance. I want that friendship first and foremost.
