I also forgot to mention that yes you can get married without a priest, it used to be as simple as the man and woman having dinner with the womans father then the 2 having sex that night. Now days you can go to a judge (because your supposed to be legal)
Do you go to a judge to be baptised and laid to rest too?

I go to a mentor to get baptised, and I dont get laid to rest I just die. Do you know where the sacraments came from or what they really stand for, they come from mithraism.

blah blah blah…give it a rest with this joke please…why don’t you people who believe this poison, connect the rest of the dots in this warped picture you all draw, complete the picture, and deny the whole of christainity?

Be warned. When sitting in the front pew, you really should know when to stand and kneel, because everyone sitting behind you will follow your lead.
It can be quite embarrassing. Like when you keep singing that last verse of the song, which no one else in the church is, and you get halfway through it before you figure out that you are the only one singing.
😛
:rotfl:

I believe this to be the root of your post.

Its a sin and needs to be confessed. Confession is very humbling and an excellent deterent.

Here’s a link to the traditional Jewish teaching carried on by the Catholic Church to this day:

ccli.org/nfp/morality/bible.php
Thank you mark. This is what I wanted to point out.

Also take in to consideration the elaborate lengths everyone has taken to explain or explain away the Sacraments.
Catechism 101.
What are the Sacred Mysteries?

Baptism
Confirmation/Christmation
Holy Communion / Eucharist
Reconciliation/confession
Extreme Unction/Annointing of the Sick
Holy Matrimony/Marriage
Holy Orders - Bishop/Priest/Deacon

They are called mysteries for a reason… They are mysteries. What we know has been passed down from the very beginning of the Church. Much like the Jewish faith we hold onto much of the same beliefs still… masterbation is also a sin in the Jewish tradition.

Confession is biblical. The protestant reformation over the years has watered this right out the door. It’s humiliating, but it is sanctifying grace that makes one holy. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Jesus elevated the joining of a man and a woman to a level of sacredness. I could carry on and on and write a book. however there are many good sources to consider reading here and on newadvent. EWTN is also very good. REad until you heart bursts. I think that you are almost Home. You could easily become an Eastern Catholic. it is much more difficult to find a parish, but it is a beautiful tradition as well. Some would compare it to the Orhtodox who are not in communion with Rome. That’s a different story though. Take the basics first. Confession is in all of the above I’ve mentioned. Most eastern Catholic priests are in fact married. So in all about 20% of Catholic priests are married. But you would never find any of the above bishops married. That is tradition that goes back a long way. It takes time to think about these things. If you’re not ready by Easter, take another year if you need. Ask you RCIA teacher the hard questions. If he doesn’t know the answers he’ll find them.

Jesus gave the sacrament of reconciliation to Peter and the apostles;

2 CORINTIHIANS 5: 17 So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 **And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation, **

JOHN 20: 21 (Jesus) said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, **“Receive the holy Spirit. 23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” **

JAMES 5: 14 Is anyone among you sick? 6 He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up.** If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. 7 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.**

MATTHEW 9: 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --he then said to the paralytic, “Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.” 7 He rose and went home. 8 **When the crowds saw this they were struck with awe and glorified God who had given such authority to human beings. **

There are degrees of sin, not deadly (venial) and deadly (Mortal). The venial sins can be confessed or prayed directly to God and be forgiven. A deadly sin requires a trial according to the law. So the yoke of Jesus is easy, We go to one of Jesus ambassadors (Priests) and confess our deadly sin, and the priest gives witness, just like in the old covenant, that the blood of Jesus has reconciled this confessed sinner back to God, when God will never remember the sin ever again. Catholics have the promise from Jesus that our confessed deadly sins are forgiven, leaving no doubt for the believer. James states a Mortal or deadly sin
can not be prayed for as some protestants and noncatholics believe, these deadly sins requires Jesus presence to be forgiven, and this can only be done through the sacrament of reconciliation by confession from a consecrated Priest holding to Holy orders.

1 John 5: 16 If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly. 18 We know that no one begotten by God sins; but the one begotten by God he protects, and the evil one cannot touch him.

**Remember; Baptism is for the unbeliever when all actual and original sins are washed away in the blood of the lamb. The ministry or reconciliation or sacrament of Confession is for the “believer” only, if this believer should fall into a deadly sin. Jesus has established his ministry of reconcilation with his Church, for it is God’s will that none should perish but all be saved.

Peace be with you**

Im not part of the Catholic religion, just like the Jews werent in the old testament and they got married the way I described
Jesus elevated marriage to a binding covenant relationship of a higher order than the Levitical standard by taking it back to “in the beginning.” At Cana, He blessed it with His first public miracle. So for Catholics “marriage” is not just goin’ down to the courthouse. When you think of it, the Church has priority over the concept of marriage. The civil concept is an administrative recognition that marriage is good for the state. But the state does not define it nor create it – even though at the moment they are trying very hard to define it against any reasonable Christian definition.

The Lord doesnt want you to be catholic, protestant, etc. (the religions) he wants you to be his, he made us free men why be slaves to mans religion.

Only Jesus can forgive sins, ill always remember those times I used go to a priest and he told me my sins were forgiven for all the things I had just done and I went right back to work on messing up my life, I had the wrong guy.
the fact that you continued in sin does not mean you weren’t forgiven…but given your attitude here i can gues that you did your penance with a "what good is this going to do"attitude…right? did you go to confess or to recieve the sacrement of reconcillation…?
so all one has to do is say i beleive throw the bible in the corner and live as if everything one does is just fine…cool,NOT

What garbage ! Apparently your knowledge of Mithraism is as deep as your knowledge of Catholicism-!Shallow to put it charitably.😛

FTW, You know what you are. You are the person they were referring to when they came up with the saying " A little learning is a dangerous thing".

You have been spreading your “knowledge” in different threads and most of the time you have been proven wrong.

Can you please tell us why you think the sacraments came from mithraism?

Or is that just something you heard and decided to parrot?:

This question is for all Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant Christians on this board. I’d love to have your oppinion on this.

I don’t know if I can be Catholic, because I cannot accept everything that the Church teaches. For one, I can’t accept the teaching that if I commit a grave sin, that Jesus Christ’s forgiveness isn’t enough, and I have to go through a priest, or I’ll go to Hell. I also can’t accept the Catholic teachings about holy days of obligation, because it seems to contradict scripture. I also have great trouble accepting that things like masterbation are sinful, let alone mortal sins.

Now that I’ve said all of this, I’ll say what I do agree with in the Catholic Church. I definitely agree that abortion is murder, because there’s plenty of evidence to support that for me. I sit on the fence when it comes to birth control though. I agree with most of the Catholic teachings about Mary. I believe that she’s the mother of the Church and Mother of God, that there’s nothing wrong with asking her to pray for me, and I believe that the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption are very possibly true, because of Marian apparitions that support them. Whether I’m Catholic or not, I still desire to pray the Rosary, and possibly have other Marian devotions. I don’t have a problem with the sacrament of Confession, because of John 20:21-23, but I also think that Jesus Christ’s forgiveness is just as good or better than absolution from a priest. I also believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

So, if I’m not Catholic, then what am I? Should I try an Orthodox church?
You are not Catholic. You are a member of the growing denomination called “Sola Ego” just like FollowTheWay which he really should change to FollowMYWay because that is what it amounts to.

You rely too much on the unholy trinity of I,Me,Myself in deciding spiritual matters and doctrine.

Do you know what the problem with that is? You are saying that your own piddly brain (I do not mean that in a derogatory way) is more capable of grasping Biblical Truths than thousands of others before you. And that is pride. The same sin that caused Adam and Eve to defy God because they have decided that they, not God, will be the arbiter of morality, of Good and Evil.

So all I can suggest is pray for humility. This is a request that I know Christ will be most willing to give.

Do you know what obedience means? It is to listen. So next time you are reading Catholic teaching, pray for the grace to truly listen.

What have I told you before about sitting on that fence Benedictus2 :tsktsk:

😃

Sitting in the fence, how?
Youre NOT sitting on the fence. You are very CLEARLY NOT siting on the fence. I was trying to be funny and ironic. I failed. miserably. 😃

I enjoyed your reply. Perhaps thats all I should have said 😃

Confession? That was Jesus’ idea!

God Bless you!🙂

If you are a “Christ follower” then follow Christ - do what he tells you. He told the Apostles “whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven” - what do you think he meant by that?

🙂
